Chapter 366: Well, did you at least get the results you were hoping to get?
They got to school, and thanks to the brainwashing skills of one of her classmates, the students didn’t have their curious eyes on her.

It was as if what had happened the previous day had never happened.

Alice happily ate her jerky as she made her way to her class, went to the back seat, and sat down.

“Ah, I’m in such a good mood.” She exclaimed.

“Why? Did something good happen?” Damian, who was already seated, asked with a smile, but when Alice looked at him, she almost fell backward in her chair.

“Yeah, but… Why do you have such dark eye bags?” She asked and he smiled.

Under the eyes of this confusingly handsome face were dark eye bags.

“Did you not get any sleep?” She asked him, adjusting her seat but he laughed nervously while scratching the back of his head.

“Well, I did stay up late. I was just going to stay up a few hours but I… I ended up overdoing it and stayed up to 5.”

“Whoa, really?” She looked at him surprised. “What were you doing that was more important than getting a good night’s sleep? Were you perhaps saving the world or something?” She asked but he shook his head.

He had sweat dripping down the corner of his face as he was embarrassed to say he had been training all night.

He had listened to Leo’s advice and actually tried using up his mana countless times. Since he was currently B-class, he had way more mana than he previously did, so it took a while to come up with an idea to use up his mana in one go while concentrating so he wouldn’t lose sight of his initial goal.

Since mana depletion was similar to exhaustion, he had been exhausted a couple of times, making him far weaker and tired than how he was supposed to look from just one sleepless night, but he saw the effects of his toll and was happy.

(After all, Awakeneds couldn’t get this level of exhaustion from just one sleepless night. It was thanks to his continuous mana depletion)

Though it didn’t look good on the outside, when he looked at his stats on his system window, he couldn’t help but smile.

His mana level had increased by 10 in one night, which was a very amazing feat for someone who had never bothered to train their mana or body before.

“Well, did you at least get the results you were hoping to get?” Alice asked him as she chewed on a little piece of the jerky. “It should be at least worth it that you stayed up so late, right?” She shrugged. “I mean, I’d be pretty pissed if I sacrificed my sleep only to get a pathetic result. And if it’s pathetic, I don’t think if ever attempt it again.”

Damian was touched by how she cared for him and smiled softly.

“Yeah, I got it. I got an amazing result.” He answered, and then she flung her arm over him.

“Then, that’s good.” She tittered and he blushed.

“Hey, Clarissa, what’s wrong with your face? Why do I sense so much makeup underneath your eyes?” Steph asked Clarissa while sniffing the air around her face and this picked up Alice’s interest.

She looked towards the front of the class where Clarissa’s seat was.

Another person who stayed up late, huh?

‘She must’ve been listening to Leo while she was still in the class.’ Alice thought and then smiled. ‘She probably worked hard.’

“It’s nothing big. I just didn’t want to…” She glanced over her shoulder at Alice’s seat, and her eyes met Alice, who was still staring at her.

She flinched and looked forward right away. She exhaled, trying to calm herself, and said,

“It’s nothing. I just slept late and have eye bags, that’s all.”

“Well, you shouldn’t push yourself too hard with training,” Maki said, stretching her arms. “No one’s asking you to be the best of the best so let’s have fun during the sports event and not the other way around, okay?” She clapped hands with Steph and they both laughed.

Alice watched this and sighed.

They were so full of life. Clarissa had such good friends.

“Yeah,” Clarissa said, her ears slightly flushed. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

‘Awn, look at her. She’s so cute.’ Alice thought. ‘I wonder if Nicholas did the same. He was the one they gave the instruction manual to.’ she looked towards her side.

Nicholas’s seat was in the same row as hers. So, if she just looked towards her side, then she would find him next to the wall in his gloomy corner.

But surprisingly, he wasn’t there.

‘Huh? Did he not come to school?’ she wondered and took out one more jerky from the sachet.

She stuck it in her mouth and started chewing with the other end sticking out of her mouth.

“Alice, you’ve been eating jerky for a while. Did you not eat breakfast?” Damian asked, out of concern and she brought her gaze to him.

“What are you talking about? This is my breakfast.” She said, lightly swaying the sachet that had just two jerky left. “It’s pretty rich and delicious. But don’t ask me to taste it ’cause I don’t think I can do that.” Her eyes turned serious.

“Haha, it’s alright. I wasn’t going to ask.” He said. Alice was always serious with her food. There was no way he would ask for the one thing she loved so much. “By the way, didn’t Leo come to school today?”

“Oh, that? He’s–”

“Alright, settle down.” Miss Stella’s voice as she walked into the class with the attendance book interrupted Alice from saying any more.

The entire class sat properly and faced front to listen to the roll call.

“I only see two empty seats, and I happen to know who the two are, but I’m still going to follow the procedure and call your names. So, like always,” she clicked the butt of her pen. “… Answer when you hear your name.”
