Chapter 367: There are certain exceptions
After the roll call, Alice was able to confirm that Nicholas really didn’t come to school.
While the rest of the class was heading out to the field, she went after Miss Stella and asked,
“Do you know why Nicholas didn’t come to school today?”
Miss Stella looked around as if searching for something and then turned to Alice.
“Is Nicholas your friend?” She asked and Alice nodded. “Hm, why haven’t I seen you two together then? I often see him alone, and it worries me.”
“Well, we only became friends last week. He drew me in with his talent.” She said over a smile that convinced Miss Stella right away.
Nicholas was indeed talented, she knew that too. And his abilities were also quite unique and seemingly powerful. If nurtured well, he could be a one-man army.
But the problem was that there was no one to foster his talent appropriately. The agency is still looking for one for him in hopes that when he was done with school, he would get assigned to someone who could train him well and help him utilize his abilities appropriately.
If such a person had caught Alice’s eye then he was really lucky.
“His mother called in that he wasn’t coming to School because he was sleeping.” Miss Stella said.
“Ah, he is sleeping?” Alice asked and then tapped her ear gently. “Please, say that again. I think I heard it wrong.”
“No, Alice. You didn’t hear it wrong.” She said. “I was also confused but she explained that he went out in the middle of the night saying he was going to ‘train’ only to come back this morning looking exhausted. He collapsed on his bed and can’t come to school.”
‘Oh, it was the same for him as well.’ she thought and pinched her chin in wonder. ‘I don’t think this training method should be done during the weekday. If they continue like this, won’t it affect their training regimen?’
And then, a thought struck her mind. She looked up at Miss Stella sharply and asked,
“Does this mean I can be excused from school if I sleep and can’t be woken up?” She asked causing Miss Stella to cross her arms and raise an eyebrow of suspicion at her. “Ah, I don’t mean just falling asleep. Like,” she darted her eyes away and pouted her lips. “… If I fight monsters all night and only get to sleep in the morning, I can skip school right?”
Miss Stella sighed and unfolded her arms.
“There are certain exceptions.” She said. “It’s not like students are allowed to go on raids, so that excuse cannot be taken lightly, but since you’re different, I guess it can work for you.”
Alice’s eyes lit up in excitement.
‘Sweet,’
“But I don’t think you’ll have a problem with monsters to the extent you’ll spend the entire night dealing with them.” Miss Stella said, her eyes curbing upside down and her lips curling up widely. She had the face of the devil at this point. “You’re Alice, after all. A snap of your fingers is enough to take care of all the monsters, hehehehehe.”
Alice clicked her tongue, placed one hand on her waist, one hand on her neck, and then cracked her neck in exhaustion.
Hearing that seemed to suck out her lifespan.
‘Dammit! I thought I had finally found a reason to skip school but she’s hot on my tail.’ She thought and glanced at Miss Stella whose face still looked like the devil. It sent shivers down her spine. ‘She scares me.’
“Alright now,” Miss Stella’s expression returned to the sweet, innocent, and kind woman she was as she cleared her throat. “You should hurry up and get to the field. I’ll be down shortly.”
“Yeah, I’m off.” Alice said and turned in the other direction.
Damian was leaning on the wall and waiting for her at the corner and as he saw her approaching, he got up properly.
“Alice,”
“We’re going down now.” She said and he nodded as he followed her from behind. “But…” She paused and looked back at him. “Are you sure you’re okay? You look like you’re going to pass out any moment. I don’t want you passing out.”
Damian understood her concern but his blood was boiling. He had so much vigor that he wanted to pour out before it died down.
He smiled brightly and said,

“I’m a healer, so I’m certain I know my body better than anyone. If I’m not in good condition,” he folded his hands behind his back. “I’ll stop.”
Alice stared at him for a while and then sighed.
“Alright, if you say so.” She stretched her hand towards her ring and a small veil. “But just in case, take this. It’ll help you recover from the fatigue.” She stretched it to him but he was reluctant to accept it.
“Alice, you don’t need to use such precious potions on me. I…”
“If you don’t take it, I won’t be assured.” She said, her eyes sternly gazing at him.
He looked into her stern eyes and something told him if he did not take it, he would risk getting her angry. Plus, he didn’t want to worry her so…
He reached his hand out and took the veil/bottle.
“Alright.” He said. “Alice, I’m glad you care so much about me. I don’t want you to worry anymore so I’ll work hard.”
“That’s good too but you should also take care of yourself too, dummy.” She lightly punched his shoulder but that nearly fractured his bones.
“Ah, I think I broke a bone.” He said and she panicked.
“Oh no. Sorry, I didn’t control my strength properly. Quick, drink the potion.” She said and he had no choice but to take it now, lest he risk others seeing him use his healing abilities.
In another corner, Clarissa was standing there with her back pressed to the wall and her gaze softly on the floor.
She had listened from one point so she didn’t hear about Damian’s ability. But the words Alice said touched her so warmly as though she had been the one she was talking to.
‘How nice it would be to be friends with her.’ she thought. ‘She’s such a nice and caring person. Why did I hate her to begin with?’
