Chapter 370: Sure, depending on how well you do
The assassin was wearing a mask, and Alice was honestly not interested in finding out who it was or finding out their gender, for that matter.
It wasn’t like she was going to go easy on them just because they were female or male.
Since their energy waves were not familiar at all, she guessed they were someone she had never come in contact with before.
The assassin coughed heavily as they struggled on the floor. Their eyes widened while they wondered in disbelief.
They were sure they contained their murderous intent well. If it had slipped at all, it might’ve been only for a split second.
So, how did she catch on to it so fast and also know where it was coming from? The distance between them was large.
‘It… It’s impossible. There has never been any of my targets that was able to catch on to my murderous intent from such a distance. And my stealth… How did she see through my stealth?’
As an assassin, having a stealth skill was of utmost importance. And as a top-grade assassin, their stealth should be second to none.
And yet, a high schooler was able to not only sense the tiny bit of murderous intent he let slip for half a second but also locate them right away.
Just what was this kid?
“You see, I’m quite sensitive this period because there are demons and awakeneds trying to get on my nerves. So, there’s no way I wouldn’t feel the slightest bit of murderous intent.” Alice explained and squatted down next to him. “So, why don’t I make things easy for you and give you a chance to confess. That way, we can both go our separate ways, and no one has to get hurt.”
They looked at her. She was smiling. How could she be smiling at a situation like this?
‘Ugh, I can’t be undone by a kid.’ they thought and acted fast, taking out a dagger and aiming it at Alice’s neck but before they knew it, their hand was sent flying.
“It’s too bad.” Alice said and stood to her feet, glaring down at them. “You should’ve just been obedient and confessed while I was asking nicely.”
The assassin was shocked and gritting in pain. Their hand had been cut off and they were bleeding heavily.
They didn’t even see Alice’s movement. So, how was she able to cut their hand too neatly without moving?
“Hm, but this is quite troublesome. I promised Leo I wouldn’t kill anyone.” Alice mumbled, squinting her eyes as she thought of a solution. “I wonder if I can get in touch with Micheal right now.”
“I’m right behind you.” Micheal said and Alice turned to find him sitting at the edge of the roof.
Through their pain, the assassin raised their head and saw Micheal. His eyes trembled in shock.
They didn’t sense his presence at all and only just knew he was there. How… How did he hide his presence so perfectly?
“Oh, perfect timing.” Alice said, clasping her hands in delight. “This is one of the times I’m thankful that you’re stalking me like a creep.”
“Haha, that’s quite harsh, Alice.” He laughed.
“Anyway, please take care of this guy for me. And if possible, could you get information on the person that sent him? It seems I’ve made an enemy somewhere I don’t recall.” She said and Micheal nodded.
“Sure, I will do just that.” He said, walking towards her. “And when that’s done, will you give me a reward?” He asked, wrapping his arms around her waist and she smirked.
“Sure, depending on how well you do.” She said and got out of his hold. “I’ll get going now.” With that, her feet lifted from the ground and she dashed away from there.
Once she was gone, Micheal turned to the assassin and frowned.
Even without seeing his face thanks to his mask, the assassin could sense the darkness that was looming. At that moment, he knew he was going to die no matter what he did.
Alice returned to the car and got in. She sighed and said,
“Alright, let’s start heading back. I’m feeling impatient now that I recall I have a feast waiting for me.” She said, licking her lips as she salivated.
They were almost forgetting about the monster meat Leo had prepared but Alice had it at the back of her mind all day.

It was another reason why she hoped the training session would hurry up and conflict itself.
When they got home, Alice quickly went up to take off her clothes and jump into the bathroom.
It wasn’t like the faster she took her bath, the faster Mark would heat up the meat but she just couldn’t wait. She was so impatient.
“Oh, I better take this to the laundry room.” Alice exclaimed after coming out of the bathroom.
She usually just left everything for Leo but since he wasn’t there, she just had to do everything herself.
“Hah,” she sighed. “When will he be fully charged?”
*Don’t miss me too much. It’s almost done.* Leo said in her head and she jolted up in surprise.
“Leo, you’re conscious.”
*You’re speaking like I was unconscious to begin with.* He said. *I just can’t interact with you like this because it somehow slows down my recharge process. So, I just decided to cut off my connection with you briefly.*
“Oh, then will you be coming out soon?”
*Yes, soon.* He said and went silent for a few seconds before saying. *I see you haven’t eaten the meat yet.*
“Oh, not yet. Something happened and I couldn’t eat it last night,” she said, darting her eyes aside. “But how did you know?”
*Though the meat won’t boost your stars and repair your body constitution as it did when you ate it the first time, it does have a few benefits. If you had eaten it, you would’ve added a bit to your strength stats.*
“Oh, I didn’t think of that.” Alice bent down and picked up everything she needed to take to the laundry room. “But it’s not like it’s gone to waste. I’ll eat it soon. Just need to take these things to the laundry room.”
*So, you’ve learned how to do something aside from stuffing your face and lying in bed?* He asked sarcastically and she flared.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
*Exactly what it means.*
Alice sighed. Leo always knew how to make her blood boil.
*Did anything happen in the meantime? Did you try to kill anyone because they got on your nerves?* He asked and she cleared her throat.
“Ahem, no one got on my nerves today.” She said. “But… I did try to kill someone.”
*What?! What happened?*
“Someone tried to assassinate me on my way back from school.” She said and closed her door, carrying the basket of clothes down the stairs.
*Something like that happened?*
“Well, I might’ve offended a few people but I don’t know exactly who sent that assassin. I know it’s not someone related to the black auction because no one knew my identity or even saw me commit the crimes.”
*The black auction aside, you’ve offended quite a lot of people.* Leo pointed out and she nodded.
“Yeah, so I don’t know who sent them. The assassin wasn’t exactly the cooperative type so I left it for Micheal and just came home.” She said and passed the kitchen where the aroma of the monster meat was quite thick and tempting.
Her mouth salivated as she tried to take a peek but Leo yelled at her.
*Stay focused. Head to the laundry and let Mark do his thing.* He said and she shook her head.
“I got it, I got it.” She walked past there and headed for the laundry room.
*Anyway, have you heard from Micheal yet?*
“It’s approximately an hour since this happened so I haven’t heard from him yet. I know he’ll do his best but if the assassin decides to keep their mouth shut, there’s nothing we can do about it. My guess is that they’ll keep sending more assassins. And the more of them I take out, the stronger the next one will be.”
She got to the laundry room and dropped the basket on the floor.
*Wow, look at you being smart.*
“Hey, you’re the one who told me to use your brain sometimes.”
*But you’re not exactly the type to listen if it doesn’t interest you. I’m surprised you agreed.* His tone sounded like he was mocking her, but she rolled her eyes.
“Whatever. With you absent, who am I to turn to for answers if I don’t know a thing? I know I keep saying I’m dumb but I’m not that dumb either. I lived in this world alone for a long time, trusting my instincts in order to survive. So, I know a thing or two about a lot of things.” She said as she started putting the clothes in the washing machine.
*Then, why did you act like you didn’t know anything most of the time?*
Alice paused. Ah, he just had to ask.
Her gaze fell softly to the ground as she squeezed the cloth in her hand and finally confessed.
“It’s because for the first time in my life, I just wanted to be… Childish and pampered. I… Didn’t want to do anything by myself like I used to and it felt nice. Really nice.”
