Chapter 371: Yeah, you’re terrible
Leo was surprised to hear Alice’s confession. He did think that she was acting differently compared to her smart and quick-witted personality from the past before meeting him.
But to think it was for a reason like this.
At times like this, he was reminded that she was still a young kid who lacked affection in her life.
She craved affection, attention, and warmth. No wonder she liked it the most when he stayed next to her while she slept.
She was scared of being alone more than anything. Scared that the warmth she was starting to get used to would someday disappear, leaving her with nothing but the cold and harsh reality of the world.
She was very scared.
“Oh, go on. I know you’re dying to tease me for what I said.” Alice said. “But don’t worry, I’m prepared for you this time. Your words won’t get to me.”
She said as she stood straight, dropping her hands on her waist with her chest pumped.
She was very sure Leo would tease her because she had confessed to wanting to be pampered like a kid.
But then, all of a sudden, his hand pressed her head back and into his chest.
After hearing her say all that and realizing what she was feeling, how could he not want to hug her?
He materialized and pressed her head to his chest, hugging her lightly.
“You’re such a kid.” He said, smiling softly. “It’s okay to be a kid, Alice. No one is asking you to grow up quickly. So… While there is still peace, please do whatever you want and I will support you. I will… Be with you.”
Alice heard his words and her heart melted. She clutched his shirt and gritted her teeth.
“You’re such a killjoy, honestly.” She said and he nodded.
“Yes, yes. And I’ll be a joystick while I’m at it.” He said and she pushed her head back, looking at him with a raised eyebrow. Seeing her expression, he laughed. “It seems I’m still bad at jokes.”
“Yeah, you’re terrible,” Alice said and got out of his arms. “Anyway, let me get this done. I need to eat and then get ready for practice.”
“Practice?” Leo asked, wondering what else he missed.
“Well, ugh, I’m having sword practice. Devon is teaching me.”
“How come?”
“I changed to the sword ’cause I wanted to have an easy loss. But can you believe it? Even that isn’t easy.” She dropped her head lazily. “They just won’t let me be and keep finding ways to make me ‘good’ at things.”
Leo heard this and then laughed.
“Well, it’s good. Knowing all weapons is great, you know.”
“Why? It’s not like I’ll be using anything aside from my hammer.”
“About that,” Leo got to her back and then placed his hands on her shoulders. “Did I forget to mention that your weapon has a transformation function?”
“No, you already told me. That’s why it can turn into an axe, right?”
Leo nodded and added,
“Yes, but that’s not all. It can turn into every weapon, including a sword. It’s a legendary weapon, after all. And thanks to its origin, it has that ability to change forms.”
Alice went silent, giving him a questioning look.
“And you’re telling me this now because…?” She asked with a raised eyebrow but he darted his eyes away.

It might’ve slipped his mind to tell her the whole thing but at least he was telling her now.
“Phew,” Alice sighed. “Then learning more weapons is good, I get it.” She turned on the washing machine and the sound of whirling filled the room.
But it was not loud enough to stop them from talking more.
“Your body has a natural affinity for weapons thanks to your bond with your hammer.” He explained.
“Oh, so that’s why it was easy for me to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow.”
“Yes, but you’re not quite perfect with that yet.” Leo said. “Still, I think it would be great if you learned just the basics of the sword. It would help in the long run.”
“Will the basics help me cut the monsters in half like my axe would?” Alice asked and Leo gave it a thought.
“If used correctly, I believe so. You don’t need to learn my fancy footwork or fancy sword patterns. Just a single swing of your sword should help you a lot.”
“Hm, alright. I’ll take it seriously.” Alice said and then yawned. “But at this rate, I think I’ll fall asleep before Devon shows up.”
“Oh, don’t worry. I’ll keep you awake for sure.” Leo said. “Want to hear a story?”
“Are you finally going to tell me a story about yourself?” She asked and when it looked like he was about to say yes, he said,
“No. I’m going to tell you about ego weapons.”
Ego weapons were weapons that were created with the ability to think for themselves.
It was something similar to AI but this was more mystical.
And of course, those Ego weapons were from mystic grade and above. But it was mostly found in Legendary weapons.
As for how many legendary weapons were available, the answer was one. Just Alice’s hammer.
Legendary weapons only began to surface from dungeons during the second calamity but even that was rare.
Human crafters and blacksmiths could not create weapons that had Egos in them. Not now, at least. It had only been seven years since the gates started appearing so there were limited resources. The kind of gates where one could gather materials for Ego weapons had yet to emerge.
The kind of weapons Earth referred to as the strongest were nowhere near Legendary.
Weapons with egos were rare, and their ego were always prideful since they stood at the Pinnacle of all weapons.
Like one would say, ‘I have a big ego’.
Since they were so prideful, they were quite picky with their owners. So, for one to have an ego weapon in the future, one would have to be chosen by the weapon or gifted as a reward for clearing a dungeon.
And these weapons were practically indestructible and actually aided their owners’ stats, empowering them with enough power to wield them if they were not strong enough.
So, to create something like that… The materials needed would be crazy and dangerous. So, of course, humans had yet to create Ego weapons.
It was like giving life to an inanimate object.
“And you’re telling me this because…?” Alice waved her hand, gesturing for him to keep going.
“It’s because your hammer is an ego weapon.”
