Chapter 372: I would hate to have him disappear
“And you’re telling me this because…?” Alice waved her hand, gesturing for him to keep going.
“It’s because your hammer is an ego weapon.”
Alice blinked once and then twice, unimpressed but she figured that was not the reaction Leo was hoping for so she faked a gasp,
“Oh my! My lovely hammer is an ego weapon?” She gasped once more. “I’m so shocked. Who would’ve known?”
“Okay, stop. Stop. You can stop putting in effort.”
“Thank you.” Alice said in hard relief.
“But aren’t you shocked that your weapon is in the category that thinks for itself?”
“Hm, let me ask you something,” Alice said, taking a step towards him. “Can I talk with my weapon? Maybe, like, hold a conversation about our favorite meat to slice?”
“Well, it can’t communicate after you’ve made your bond or if it was a reward,”
“Hm-hm,” she nodded with her lips pressed together. “Then, does knowing I have a hammer that can change into any weapon at all make my stomach filled? Does it refill my energy that is depleted when I fight for a long time or does it put food on my table?”
The answer was no but Leo was actually thinking about it.
“Ugh, forget it.” She turned away from him. “Thanks for letting me know but I don’t really need such information. You know the kind of information I’m looking for so just give it up.”
“Hm,” Leo sighed. It wasn’t his fault he couldn’t tell her more about the future and his own life.
*Ding*
The washing was complete, so she needed to rinse them and then put them up to dry.
The atmosphere had turned a bit sour so they didn’t say more between each other.
Alice simply dwelled in her own thoughts while Leo listened to her thoughts, trying to understand how she was feeling better.
They were simple thoughts though. Alice was pondering whether to eat more of the meat that was dipped in syrup or eat them when they were roasted and crispy.
This brought a smile to Alice’s lips.
‘No wonder she’s so quiet.’ he thought.
Alice’s mouth practically salivated as she entertained these thoughts. She was going to make sure she ate to her fill.
‘But let’s not eat it all. I don’t want it to finish so quickly because I don’t know when next Leo will be able to do this.’
‘Silly girl, there are so many monsters in the world, just ask and I’ll–‘
‘I would hate to have him disappear for a whole day just because he used a lot of his energy detoxifying the meat.’ she thought, surprising Leo. ‘Yeah, let’s do that so that Leo will stay by my side longer.’ she smiled in delight and Leo looked away.
Was she doing this on purpose knowing he was listening to her thoughts?
No, if she knew he was listening to her thoughts, she would’ve flared by now.
It looked like she had grown very fond of him. Too fond, in fact.
“Alice,” Devon called and they both turned to the entrance of the laundry room.
“Devon, you’re here already?” Alice asked, looking quite disappointed but trying to hide it.
She hoped he would come late and use that excuse to catch a nap. But guess he wanted to be deligent.

“Hah,” she sighed. “I guess I’ll be putting my all into practice this time.”
“Do you need some help?” Devon asked but Alice shook her head.
“No, it’s fine. I’m already done.” She said and Devon nodded.
Though he was surprised that Alice was not in her room, he had sensed her from that direction, only to find her doing her own laundry.
This was the first time he had seen her doing any sort of shores.
(It’s her first time anyway. Aside from that one time she joined Mark to do the dishes and got her breath stolen with a rough French kiss)
“Devon, have you eaten dinner yet?” Alice asked and he nodded,
“Yes, I ate before I came.”
“That’s so wonderful to hear.” Alice said.
Yes, she was greedy and wouldn’t want to share her meat. She already said she would keep half or maybe a quarter of it for another time so she could confirm to savor it. If she had to share on top of that, there was no way she would be okay with it.
“Alice, I made a few more jerkies.” Leo said and Alice’s eyes widened.
“Really?! Where is it? No, how many sachet?”
“I made a total of five but I told Mark to give you only one sachet a day.” Leo said. “So, you’ll be getting another sachet tomorrow morning.” He smiled and Alice’s face beamed.
It was as if she was floating in the clouds.
“Hm, monster jerky,” she thought, her feet gently lifting from the floor as she recalled the satisfying taste from earlier that day.
‘Wow, Alice must really like monster meat.’ Devon thought. ‘I wonder what it tastes like.’
If not for the fact that it took a lot of energy out of Leo to process the meat, he would’ve gotten her a lot of monster meat and let her feast all she liked.
“That’s enough,” Leo said, grabbing Alice’s hand to prevent her from floating towards the ceiling. “Any more than this and you’ll be kissing the ceiling for sure.”
“Oh, right.” She quickly wiped her drool fork her mouth and smiled at him. “Then, let’s go. I’m hungry.”
The sight before the three guys was nothing short of a rabid beast devouring a prey for the first time in months.
Devon and Mark watched Alice devour the food in complete shock while Leo simply stared as though she were an adorable kitten.
But if anyone tried to reach for her prey- ahem, for her food, she would definitely turn into a tiger and bare her fangs at them. Did she even have any fangs?
“This is the best,” Alice exclaimed.
There was so much satisfaction and joy in her expression.
“Oh, Alice,” Devon said, suddenly recalling something. “I don’t know if this is a good time but Miss Stella asked me to pass on a message to you.”
“Oh? What’s it about?” She asked and dug her teeth into the big chunk of meat she picked up.
“On Sunday, there’s going to be an orientation for all awakened classes. So, it’ll include your classmates as well as all other students who have awakened all across the country.”
Alice paused and then sighed.
“Okay, then, is it compulsory?”
“She said in case you ask if it’s compulsory, I should tell you, ‘Yes, it’s very compulsory and take note that if you don’t attend, you won’t get your official student awakened license.”
“Wait, that’s a thing?”
“Apparently,”
“Ugh, fine. Fine. I think I’ll meet Diane that day, too, so why not?” She easily agreed and then burped. “Excuse me.”
