Chapter 378: You’ll do great, Clarissa
A subtle silence followed after Leo’s words but then Alice yawned and asked,
“Does that affect or change my way of living?”
“Not exactly. It’s actually incorporating itself in your way of living, defining your actions and things like that.” Leo explained. “But it doesn’t change much.”
“In other words, it’s not a problem.”
“I just wanted you to know that your entire being seems to be presently controlled by these sins.” He said. “And I’m ashamed because I don’t know exactly how it’s happening.”
“Don’t be ashamed. It’s not like you initially created my body, is it?” Alice asked but he shook his head. ” Constitution, god, or whatnot, you have your own jurisdiction, and so you don’t have to worry too much about my existence. Whether it’s a curse or not, I bet…” She yawned. “… I’ll figure it out somehow. I still got lots to live anyway.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I’m worrying too much.” He said and she nodded.
Alice couldn’t wait to have her turn so she could go up to the classes and take a nap.
Whether it was the seven deadly sins having effects on her life and dictating how she acted, she did not know, but there was no way in hell or Earth that she would let something as measly as that dictate her life.
For Sloth to be inflicted on her right at this point, whoever was doing it probably didn’t want her to participate in the event but she would prove them wrong and emerge victorious.
After that, she would go take a long nap in the classes. And when that happened, not even a gate break would be able to wake her up.
So, she would leave the lives of these people in the hands of the numerous professionals who were present.
It wasn’t like it was her job to take care of them anyway. She was just a student who had yet to receive even a temporary license.
Awakeneds that were getting paid should do their job and take care of the small fries.
‘I’d be pampering them if I took care of every one of the monsters, weak or not. So, unless it’s necessary, I won’t step up.’ she thought and stretched her arms. ‘Gosh, I’m tired.’
“Wow, there are so many people. There are so many big shots, too. Did you see that the leader of the Awakened agency and the National Awakened Association chairman were present too?” Maki stated in awe, clutching onto Clarissa’s arm. “I’m not participating in anything but I’m already a nervous wreck.”
“Maki, do you want Clarissa to have a meltdown or something?” Steph queried her. “She’s already under a lot of pressure so give her some slack.”
“Haha, sorry. You’ll do great, Clarissa.”
Clarissa inhaled and then exhaled. Yes, there was pressure but she wasn’t feeling it too much. Why? Because she knew the reason why these important people were present.
She knew the person they were all here to see.
But even then, she would give it her all so that she wouldn’t appear invisible to them. She would give it her best so that they could see her potential and how much she had prepared for this. How hard she worked.
She clutched her fists. Her fingers had a few small stickers hiding the small cuts she had sustained while practicing over and over.
That was a testament to how much she had prepared for this single event. And because she had come this far, she would keep putting in effort and not back out.
She would do her very best.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let us begin with the archery contest.” The loud mic boomed and Clarissa nodded. “Archers in place.”
“Goo, Clarissa!” Maki cheered.
“You got this, Clarissa. Knock ’em all out of their seats.” Steph said.
‘I will do my best and make a name for myself so that one day, I can finally stand on the same stage as you.’ Clarissa thought with determination as she headed towards the stage. ‘This here, will be my starting point.’
Alice rested her head on Leo’s shoulder as she watched with him from their seats.
‘Would you look at that?’ Alice thought in amusement. ‘She’s got a lot of fire burning in her. I feel so proud for some reason.’

The stage was wide. They were using the fields that had been modified overnight. Now, it looked like a huge arena with different sections for the competition and of course, a large screen showed the faces of the students as they came up stage.
Their fierce, determined, and arrogant faces. While some looked determined, some looked too arrogant for their own good.
“The students are looking sharp and ready. The future of our world rests on their shoulders. So, why don’t we see the capabilities of our future heroes?” The voice booming from the speakers sounded like a real busybody but he was telling the truth.
So many people wondered just how powerful these students were and if they were worthy of being called the future of mankind. So wanted to know if the special treatment they were receiving was getting to their head and making them lazy or not.
“Hm, I remember that one,” Noah, sitting next to the chairman said as the screen showed Clarissa’s face. “Wasn’t she with Miss Alice the last time we came to visit?”
“She possesses raw talent.” Adolf exclaimed and then beamed in pride. “I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone Alice chose to keep by her side.”
“Look at you, Chairman.” Noah looked at him in suspicion. “If anyone saw you, they’d think she was your granddaughter. Don’t you think you dote on her too much?”
“I consider her my granddaughter.” Adolf said, without an ounce of denial. Though, he was just saying it on the surface and knew it wasn’t as he said. No matter what he did, his blood would still not flow through her veins. “Blood may be thicker than water, but in this world bond is what makes a family and not blood.”
“Hmm, spoken like a wise man.” Noah exclaimed and then pushed his body forward, dropping his elbow on his crossed knee and dropping his face on his arm. “Since you already take her as your granddaughter, why don’t you consider me your grandson-in-law?”
Adolf squinted his eyes, sharply turning his gaze to him and then he actually scoffed.
“If you beat my granddaughter, I’ll consider thinking about it.” He said and started stroking his chin. “But I have no say in her future so don’t put your hopes on it.”
“Hm, that so?” Noah rested his back on the chair. “Alright then, let us watch the show.”
