Chapter 390: I think it would be better if I went down there
“It’s a total mess down there,” Diane exclaimed. The monsters were spewing in all directions, but it didn’t mean it was getting out of hand.
In fact, the awakened were doing a good job keeping them on the school grounds and taking them out one by one. Maybe it was because there were so many skilled and powerful awakeneds but the operation was going smoothly.
They didn’t even need the help of the chairman yet and Noah was also pretty relaxed, sitting in a corner and sipping tea.
Where did he even get that?
He was probably confident that if things got out of hand, he would be able to take care of it in the snap of his fingers, but why did he need to worry when the famous Devon was there freezing the fire out of the monsters and cutting a large number in half with one single strike.
He was one of the reasons why the monsters couldn’t advance further.
He stood where the formation and barricades were made and swung his sword each time the monsters were getting near.
Since he hadn’t been to a gate for a while, his mana was pretty much stocked and ready to use.
Devon wasn’t the only guild master present. It was a surprise but Justin was there too.
He had been considerably quiet in the long run after being severely humiliated by Alice. He came to watch the sports event, thinking he might find something worthwhile to use against Alice but it was all for nothing.
He would’ve gone back afterward, but the scene of a man with fiery red hair would immediately expose him, so he decided to lay low.
Now, he was glad he had come; if not, he would’ve missed out on the fun to take on an ogre.
He lunged into the air and charged for the ogre in front of him with his fists, getting ready to smash its face in. Fire gathered his fist, lighting up that huge and excited smirk on his face as he threw his punch at the other’s face, destroying it completely and creating a hole that extended to three more ogres behind it.
“Man, that’s what I’m talking about.” He said as he landed on the body while swiping his nose with his thumb. “A little workout to work up my appetite, haha.”
He was a maniac, so his reaction wasn’t news, but to take out three ogres at once, the others were impressed.
Without the ogres disrupting the other awakeneds while they fought off the blood goblins and kobolds, the subjugation of the gate break was quite a breeze.
But it didn’t mean there weren’t those who wouldn’t get hurt.
Unlike normal green goblins, blood goblins had red skin with strips and were quite tenacious. They were far more intelligent than normal goblins and could even form a team work with other monsters just so they could survive if their opponent seemed to be too much for them.
So, they teamed up with the three-eyed red wolf and rose them while charging for the awakeneds.
This made things a bit more complicated and many people got hurt.
They were now in need of a healer. There were a few healers but they weren’t high level. The only high-level healers on the premises were Miss Stella and the healer who had just become an S-class at Devon’s party.
But while that person was busy healing, Miss Stella was nowhere to be found.
Honestly, not everyone was aware she was a healer or even an awakened. Not even her students were aware of that fact, but they might’ve guessed once or twice if she was an Awakened or not, given her connection with the Chairman.
“I think it would be better if I went down there,” Damian suddenly said and they all turned to him. “While there are so many injured, there are only a few healers. I… I can be of help.”
“Are you a healer?” Maki asked and Damian pursed his lips. It was a secret but he didn’t have a reason to hide it during this crisis.
He nodded and said,
“Yes, I’m a healer.”
They were surprised. He managed to hide he was a healer.
“I’ll go down and be of some assistance,” he said but Leo stopped him, saying,
“It’s good to help but you’re walking into a place being raided by monsters. What will you do if you get hurt or worse, killed?” His gaze was simple but his interrogation suddenly sent chills down Damian’s spine. “And what do you think Alice would say if she were to hear of it?”

They glanced at Alice who was still sleeping.
“But aren’t my powers given to save people?” He asked and Leo nodded.
“Yes, but not at the cost of your life.” Leo said. “You’ll only be able to save people once you’re able to save yourself. Are you certain you won’t get hurt? Are you certain you won’t get attacked by monsters from behind while you try to help others? You need to think of these things before you rush in to help. You’re a student, a kid. It’s not your job to save the world. Leave the saving and healing to the professionals.”
“Leo’s right,” Diane said. “If you go down now, you’ll risk getting yourself hurt. If we could help from way up here, then it would be a different story but we can’t do let’s just stay put.”
The argument was logical and reasonable, and no one complained about it.
Damian reluctantly nodded, rubbing his arm.
“Alright,” he said.
“Helping from here,” Clarissa suddenly muttered and they all turned their attention to her. “Helping from here would suffice, right?”
“Yes, but what are you going to do?” Diane asked, and Clarissa got on top of the table next to the window.
Diane wondered what she was up to, but suddenly, the air started getting cold.
‘Snowflakes?’ Diane thought as she saw snowflakes falling out of nowhere.
It wasn’t something one would see every day.
She looked at Clarissa, and her eyes slightly widened in surprise as she saw Clarissa’s hair turning white from the scalp down to the tip with what looked like an ice halo hovering over her head. Okay, it looked more like a crown, and in her hands manifested a bow made of ice.
“If it’s from here,” she huffed slowly, cold breath escaping from the corners of her mouth as she began to draw her bow. “I’m sure I can do something.”
