Chapter 393: Was that when the explosion went off?
“Block all the doors, hurry. The entire building is flooded with monsters!”

It wasn’t like blocking the doors would stop the monsters from coming in but in the least, it would buy them time.

“Miss Stella, are you okay?” Clarissa asked and Miss Stella turned to them, gritting her teeth.

“I’m fine. How about you kids? Did you get caught up with any of the monsters?” She asked as she hurried to set down the injured student in her arms.

“No, we’ve actually been up here even before the gate break.” Clarissa answered and then looked at the student. It was one of their classmates.

And as for the other kids. They were mixed with students from the other awakened classes as well as normal students.

What happened?

“Did you say the entire building is overrun by monsters?” Lance asked. “What happened?”

“I don’t know how this happened either.” Miss Stella answered and began to use her healing abilities.

Though she wanted to keep it a secret, she couldn’t leave one of her students to die of such injuries just because she wanted to hide that she was an Awakened.

Everyone watched, stunned. Even if they did have suspicions that she was an Awakened, they never thought she was a healer.

“I need everyone who’s injured to come over here,” she said. “I’ll heal your wounds.”

Most of them were injured and Diane wondered if the monsters had attacked them when they were in a group or if this teacher went around saving them one at a time.

“The school building seemed to be the safest but I knew it was best not to be around the gates since its dangerous regardless.” Miss Stella started explaining as she activated her healing powers.

Her hands on the kid’s injury began glowing green with a series of plus signs floating around them.

“I knew there were some kids left inside so I decided to evacuate everyone. Since the situation below seemed to be less dangerous, it would be fine to take them all out through the first gate but then… Different gates started spawning in the school building.” She looked up at them. “I wasn’t fast enough and some of the kids…” He bit her lip. “Anyway, most of the kids held on well because the monsters weren’t that powerful, so I planned to head out the front with the kids I had found, but another gate spawned in the lobby.”

“Was that when that explosion went off?” Diane asked and Miss Stella nodded.

That child was out of danger so she could focus on the other kids.

Damian thought this was a chance for him to help out. He could also use his healing abilities to save others.

He walked up to those who were waiting to be healed and said,

“It won’t do us any good if Miss Stella uses up her mana right now to heal everyone,” he said and Miss Stella looked up to find him healing one of the students.

“Hah, I’m not that weak.” She said and he smiled.

“I know.”

But it was clear she was incredibly drained. What had happened on her way up with those students?

“I still don’t get something,” Diane spoke up. “A monster appearing doesn’t mean there’s going to be a huge explosion. Did someone attack it?”

“I did.” Miss Stella said. “I’m not a fighter but I do have one attack spell. It’s very powerful, but it takes a lot out of my mana, and that’s why I never use it.”

“But you used it this time,” Maki said.

“And that’s why you seem so tired.” Steph added.

“Don’t worry too much. It takes more than that to bring me down.” She said but that wasn’t what her complexion was saying. She looked rather paler than usual.

They looked at their teacher worriedly.

“I couldn’t exactly expect help from outside when I had so many students relying on me.” She said. “It was either that or we’d all be killed. I might’ve been able to survive since I’m not that easy to kill, but I could never live with myself if I were to survive while my kids died.”

She didn’t want any more losses. She would rather burn out her life than have the children in her care due right in front of her.

“Yawn,” Alice’s yawn stole all their attention and they all looked back to find her finally waking up.

“Hah, sleeping beauty finally wakes up.” Lance exclaimed but Steph nudged him to be quiet.

They watched her as she stretched her arms and then patted her eyelids gently as she opened her eyes.

Alice looked around. The smell of blood, the vulgar stench of demons, and the worried look on everyone’s faces as if something big had happened led her to glance out through the window.

She saw the huge orange gate in the middle of the field, as well as a few other blue gates around.

There were awakeneds fully armed, monster corpses as well as a few human corpses littered all over.

Then, she returned her gaze to the classroom.

Most of the students in the class were injured and were receiving healing from Damian and Miss Stella, who looked incredibly worn out.

Okay, she’s seen all she needed to see. She scratched the back of her head and asked,

“Is it the end of the world already?”

Leo smacked the back of her head, and that broke the tensed gaze of everyone who sighed.

“You’ve been also through the entire storm, but fortunately, it’s not the end of the world yet.” Diane explained, taking a seat right in front of her. “You have one bad sleeping habit, Alice.”

“What? Did I sleep long?” Alice asked as she rubbed the spot Leo had smacked. “I feel refreshed right now so I believe I slept long. But I still feel like sleeping.”

“Don’t even think about it!” Lance flared at her along with Maki and Steph.

Due to this, they exchanged glances, wondering how they said the same thing at the same time.

“Huh?” Alice looked at them, puzzled. What was so bad about sleeping?

“Alice, be real. How can you think of falling asleep after seeing what’s going on?” Diane asked.
