Chapter 397: Was he a bad brother?
The reporters decided to ask the students a lot more questions and ask more about the crimson Griffin but when they turned around, there was no one.
The huge Griffin was also gone in a flash.
“Huh? Where did they go?”
After the reporters shifted their attention to Noah, Maki, and Steph nearly fainted from exhaustion. The reporters had sapped out their little force by being so forceful with their questions.
“I-I think w-we should get g-going now.” Nicholas said and they turned to find him completely fine.
“How are you completely fine?” Maki asked, helping Steph stay on her feet.
“They ignored m-me,” Nicholas said.
He had been there the whole time, but it was as if he was a black-and-white image that did not warrant their attention. Thus, they directed their questions more to Maki and Steph who were still on their feet, looking bright
“I guess it helps to be a wallflower at times like this,” Steph said. “No offense,”
Nicholas nodded.
“None taken,”
“Then, how should we get this one away not that they’re not paying attention to us?” Maki asked, looking at Domus who was relaxed with its head down.
“Maybe we need to find Alice first and–” her words were cut short when Domus suddenly raised its head to look back and then it turned into light fragments being sucked into Alice’s ring.
“Glad to see you’re all doing well,” Alice said and they felt so relieved seeing she was fine even after the building had collapsed.
They all evacuated before her, so they were worried that she would get caught up in the building’s collapse, but thankfully, she was whole and safe.
“Thank goodness,” they exclaimed, eyes brimming with tears.
Alice wondered why everyone was having the same reaction after seeing her. The situation wasn’t exactly life-threatening.
“I can see her face clearly now,” Steph said and Alice touched her face. Her glasses were gone.
Did she lose it during that excitement? Well, it wasn’t like she’d need it anymore since school was officially closed.
“Alice, thank you,” Maki said, wiping her tears from her eyes before they had the chance to fall.
“Don’t sweat it.” She said, smiling brightly.
“Alice,” Devon called and they all turned. “Damian,” he quickly enveloped his precious younger brother in his arms. “I was so worried.”
Damian was taken aback. He just realized something and it made him feel guilty. During all this commotion, he had not thought of his brother for one moment.
He did not worry about him, why?
Was it because he was also in danger or because he was too busy caring about other people? It made him feel bad and he hugged Devon back, his eyes tearing up.
Devon was also saving a lot of people but he was sure he still thought of him every moment. So, was he not a good brother? Why did he not worry about his brother and worry about Alice instead when she was even more powerful than his brother?
“What’s wrong?” Devon asked, seeing him cry but he shook his head, cleaning his tears.
“It’s nothing.”
“Awn, where you worried about me?” Devon asked and patted his head. “Don’t worry, your big brother is more capable than you think.”
The others finally got to confirm that Damian was indeed related to Devon. It came as a shock but not entirely shocking.

Since his glow-up, the resemblance became so apparent that they couldn’t look at him and not see Devon.
It was probably why most of them wanted to get closer. They wanted to see his handsome face that looked like the heir Devon’s.
“I know, I know, it’s just…” He couldn’t stop crying. It wasn’t because he was worrying that he was crying, it was because he didn’t worry throughout the chaos. He felt so awful.
“There, there,” he said, smiling in relief. “It’s good that you’re safe,” Then, he looked around. “As well as everyone else. You didn’t get caught up in the building collapse, but what happened?”
It did seem strange that a perfectly standing building suddenly collapsed. The building’s top floor was maintained by a special condensed material that made it impossible for regular awakeneds to destroy so the monsters wouldn’t be able to destroy it either.
But that would be a sudden case if ‘someone’ intentionally used ice on it and punched through it.
But that wasn’t why the building fell, and knowing this, Alice darted her eyes away, feeling guilty.
“For now,” she said. “…can you take us somewhere else? Those reporters can be very annoying.”
Devon nodded and then snapped his fingers, teleporting all of them to Alice’s house.
“Is this fine?” He asked and watched Alice crash on the sofa.
“Yeah, this is nice,” she said as she finally got to stretch her bones. “Thanks, Devon,” she turned to the rest. “Feel free to take a seat. This is where I live.”
They looked around, surprised. This was their first time coming to Alice’s house.
“Alice, I’m a bit busy so I’ll leave first.” Devon said and she nodded.
He was a guild master so it was only natural that he had a bunch of things to do at a time like this.
“Alright, stay safe.” She waved but then Damian caught on to Devon’s shirt and asked,
“Can I come with you?”
Devon felt Damian was simply worrying about him but there was nothing to worry about.
“The gate break stopped for now so you don’t have to worry. I’ll just be running around looking for the family of the deceased and making sure there’s no missing person. You don’t have to worry,” he said but that did not make Damian feel any better.
He felt he needed to make up for something.
“It’s alright, Damian,” Alice said and he slowly lowered his head, pursing his lips in regret. “If you go with Devon, he won’t be able to concentrate. You don’t want to be the reason he’s distracted, right?”
Hearing this, Damian let go of Devon’s shirt.
“No, I don’t want to.” He said and then looked up at Devon. “I promise I’ll do better.” He suddenly said, confusing Devon but he decided to interpret it as Damian wanting to get stronger in order to stand beside him.
“Alright, I’ll hold you up on that,” Devon said and snapped his fingers, disappearing from the premises.
“So, this is where you live, Alice,” Diane said but Alice snickered.
“Why? Is it bigger than yours?”
“Ha! You wish.” Diane said and crashed on the long sofa right next to her.
“Hey, give me some space,” Alice complained, pushing her face away.
“You’d have to push me to get it.” Diane struggled with her. They looked like two cats in a box.
