- Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 I saved the world
Chapter 40: I saved the world Chapter 40: I saved the world What does a person who risked her own life to save the world from a very dangerous calamity get on her arrival?
A thank you celebration?
Nope, a troop of armed awakeneds all at alert in front of her, looking at her like she was some kind of worldwide threat.
Yeah, she was a threat.
A dangerous existence but not to them, that is.
But they didn’t know that.
Alice glanced around.
There were flashing lights on her, and even though it was nighttime, the entire place was as clear as day.
‘What was going on while I was in the dungeon?’ she wondered and then finally caught a familiar face in the crowd.
It was Mark, looking at her shocked.
She raised her hand to wave at him and called out cheerfully, “Boss, I’m back!” She announced but Mark looked like he was in shock.
“Alice?” He called, confused.
“Is that really you?” “Uh,” she slowly dropped her hand.
“Yeah.” What was going on?
Why was he looking at her like that?
*You got a glow-up.* Leo reminded and she snapped.
“Oh, right.
I got this body reconstruction after eating the monster meat.
But…
I don’t think I look that different.” She said to no one in particular, not that they could hear her since they kept quite the distance from her and the gate.
*Look in the mirror and then decide that.* Leo said.
*For now, focus on what’s in front of you.* She nodded and looked up at Mark.
“Boss, it’s me.
What’s going on?” She asked and took a step, but this got them all on alert, and they raised their weapons at her, startling her.
Were they going to attack her?
“Stop!” Mark yelled at them and stepped forward.
“She’s not even armed so there’s no need to go that far.” He yelled at them.
“Even more reason for us to be on alert.” That was a lady’s voice and everyone turned to find Florida walking towards them.
They blushed.
The stern yet alluring lady caught the eyes of the male awakeneds but with one sharp glance at them, they averted their eyes right away and towards the target.

Florida stopped in front of Mark and said, “For someone to go into the highest grade red gate and come out unarmed, it only goes to show how dangerous they are.
Don’t you think?” “Alice is not a threat!” Mark said, and Florida pushed her face closer to him, imposing her position and power on him.
“That is not for you to decide.” She said and raised her head to look at Alice.
She scanned her from head to toe.
The little clothing that appeared to be suffering and sticking to her was the only thing hiding her privates from the crowd of men in front of her and she did not seem to care at all.
What if it ripped off right there and there, how would she react?
‘She’s different from the picture I saw of her before she went into the dungeon.’ She thought and approached Alice.
‘Did she find something in the gate that enhanced her body?’ she thought, scanning her.
She stared at Alice’s curves and then the flawless skin.
Where were the scars?
“And who are you?” Alice asked, bringing Florida’s gaze to meet hers.
“I don’t remember seeing you anywhere.” The troops were surprised.
Speechless, rather.
She didn’t know who Florida was?
Was there really anyone who didn’t know who Florida was?
She was a sensation since she was not only a beautiful and alluring woman, but the only female combatant among the S-class awakeneds in their country.
Her face was literally everywhere.
But Alice was looking at her like that was the first time she was seeing her.
‘Is she just doing that to provoke me?’ Florida thought.
Alice looked at her with glazed eyes, showing her disinterest in whoever Florida was and then she turned to Mark, who looked anxious.
Why was he anxious?
She got out of the dungeon safely, so wasn’t this the time to celebrate?
“Miss Alice,” Florida called and Alice turned back to look at her.
“We’re going to have to take you into custody.” She said and Alice blinked.
Well, that wasn’t news to her.
After all, she had been in custody even before the gate spawned on their grounds.
Mark got worried and he clenched his fists.
‘Run, Miss Alice.
Run away.
If you run now, no one will be able to catch you.
I’m sure of it.
Please run.’ Mark’s eyes screamed.
He knew this was an injustice.
Alice had done something great.
She didn’t deserve to be treated as a criminal anymore.
He hoped she would somehow listen to his thoughts and run.
But to his surprise, Alice shrugged and sat on the floor with folded legs and folded arms and yawned.
“Alright, go ahead.” She said, confusing them.
“You’re going to have to carry me though.
I’m feeling tired.” “What are you doing?” Florida asked, looking a little lost at Alice’s action and also irritated at her attitude towards her.
“You’re taking me into custody, right?
Hurry it up, I’m starving.” The troops, including Mark and Florida, were confused.
What was that about?
Did she not understand what it meant when an S-class decided to take someone into custody?
It was interrogation!
And if acting stubborn and difficult, torture!
Why was she so nonchalant about it?
“You guys owe me that much, right?
I cleaned the mess and saved you guys from those horrible and scary monsters in there, so hurry up and reward me with food already.
I’m starving.” She said.
Mark pursed his lips.
She…
She was still the same.
He almost forgot that she was that kind of person.
But did she not know the situation she was currently in?
“What’s the hold-up?” Alice asked.
“I haven’t had a decent place to sleep since I entered that God-forsaken place.” She started yapping nonstop all of a sudden.
“There was danger everywhere and I couldn’t eat when I wanted to.
It was frustrating.” She closed her eyes and continued, venting calmly, “You know, there’s this tower inside the gate.
It’s really dark too and everywhere I looked, there were monsters with red eyes ready to rip me apart.
S-class monsters, SS-class monsters, a kraken, giant disgusting lava eels, and then there was that herd of minotaurs that were even stronger than SS-class monsters.
It was practically hell and do you know, if that disaster had escaped those gates then…” “What are you going on about?” Florida asked, interrupting her, and Alice opened her eyes, glancing at her with a knowing smile.
“I saved the world.” She said, but Florida furrowed her eyebrows, taking her words as a bluff.
There was no way she single-handedly cleared a red gate and one of such magnitude.
But how to explain the cleared dungeon?
While she was inside, there were countless earthquakes and tremors on Earth and all were coming from the gate.
People could only assume what sort of battles she was fighting inside there to create such tremors that the whole country, not just their country, but the whole world, could feel.
Nevertheless, she did clear the gate but how?
Was she really that strong?
She clicked her tongue.
She didn’t want to believe it.
Just then, Devon appeared.
He appeared right in front of Alice with his teleportation skill and looked down to see her sitting on the floor with clothes that were not fit to be called clothes.
Even rags served better.
She was fairly different from his memories but there was no way he wouldn’t recognize her.
Especially with those kinds of eyes.
He took off the coat hanging on his shoulders and draped it around her.
“What are you doing?” Florida asked him, and he stood up, looked at her for a few seconds, and then ignored her like he didn’t see the person who had asked such a question.
“Miss Alice, are you okay?” He asked, helping her up and she nodded.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She said and looked at the coat he draped over her shoulder to cover her up.
“You don’t have to do this.” She wanted to take off the coat but he stopped her.
“No, I have to.” He said and eyed Florida angrily.
“It’s what a proper human would do.” Alice twisted her lips.
So, this wasn’t a favor, right?
Because she hated owing people favors.
“Are you really treating her like a normal human being?
She’s dangerous.” Florida accused.
“Oh come on.
What do you mean dangerous?” Alice asked.
“Unless it’s a monster, I couldn’t possibly harm another human unless they do me harm, though.
And that would be self-defense, right?
Isn’t that legal?” “You hear that?!” Florida pointed out fiercely.
“Yeah, self-defense.” Devon made sure to enunciate and Florida glared at him.
Yeah, they weren’t on good terms.
And you wanna know who else isn’t on good terms?
Justin, with a wide grin plastered on his face, approached them.
He had his hands tucked in his cargo pants pocket and then stopped, a little distance away from them.
“Oh looky, the tiny lady is back.” He said, his lips widening in excitement.
“Glad to see you didn’t die.” Alice looked at him and then blinked.
She remembered him.
Oh, she remembered him all too well.
That red hair…
Who could forget it?
“Um, can you give me a bit of space?” She requested, and Devon looked at her, wondering what she was going to do, but she did not wait for them to heed her words and, in a split second, dashed towards Justin.
She stretched her hand out and her hammer appeared in fragments before fully materializing in her hand.
As soon as she got to Justin, she gripped the handle of her hammer tightly and then swung it across Justin, sending him flying high into the sky.
Everyone stared in disbelief and shock.
How did she get there so fast?
No, what did she just do?
She…
She hit Justin the fighting maniac.
She let her hammer go, sucking it back into her ring, and turned her head to the bewildered spectators and said, “Sorry, that one was personal.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah She got her revenge, hehe Landed an unexpected blow to that guy, he really deserved it
