Chapter 401: America was the strongest
It was a known fact that the meeting was called regarding the recent attack on the school, but it did not stop the members of the association from bringing forth their woes.

While some of the countries seemed to be doing well in fending off the gate breaks as well as participating in dungeon raids, some countries were falling short because they did not have the renowned experts or even a single S-Class to help them fend off red gates.

And thus, red zones in those areas were large, and the number of people dying was increasing by the day.

If things continued in that manner, countries would be wiped off the map, and the population of the world would decrease. Sooner or later, those monsters may find a way to cross the borders, and when that happens, the people will lose their lives.

This brought about serious consideration, and everyone put their ideas on the table. This was for the good of the world, and yet there were still some selfish bastards who sought to profit from this tragedy.

“How much will the government of this nearly fallen government offer as compensation to the awakeneds who will take this on?” The one who spoke such selfish words was none other than Su Feng, the same Chinese man who had undermined Alice during the previous meeting, going head to head with her now matter what she did.

“Compensation? What are you talking about?”

All eyes had fallen on him.

“As you said, the countries have nearly fallen, so what can you possibly take from it?” They asked, but Su Feng shook his head and said with a smug look on his face.

“You don’t exactly expect us to send out our heroes to such deadly lands, risk their lives and not get anything in return, do you?”

What was with his sarcastic tone? It was as if he didn’t care what they all thought or about the lives of the people they needed to save, and was only interested in the compensation.

It was a well-known fact that China was the third strongest country after Brazil, and Brazil was second only to America. The ranks continued from there, and the ranks were determined by the strongest people in the world, and the number of S-class awakeneds they had in the country.

So far, America not only has the strongest but also several S-class awakeneds.

Since China was that strong, their smugness was understandable…still, to ask for compensation when the job hadn’t even begun was too much. Were they that money-hungry, or was he simply acting out on his own?

‘I doubt it.’ Alice thought. Given that the powerful individual he came with didn’t speak a word against his agenda, then it must mean that the heads of China came to this agreement.

“If it’s compensation you want, you can have all the rewards gotten from clearing the gates assigned to your team.” One man, possibly a representative of one of the fallen countries, said. “All we ask for is that you help us get rid of the monsters and powerful gates so that the citizens can at least have some breathing space.” The desperation in his tone made it clear how worried he was for his country, but Su Feng couldn’t be bothered.

“What are you talking about?” He asked with a scornful look as he glared at the man. “Of course, we’ll take the rewards from the dungeon. It’s a reward for our effort, after all. What I would like to know is how much you’re going to pay for hiring China’s service.”

Alright, now he was being unreasonable. Loud murmuring and discussion began with everyone talking about how unreasonable China sounded, and some even supported the motion of the compensation being involved, since it was a fact that they were asking for help.

The arguments persisted with a few powerful people observing in silence, when Adolf decided that it was time to speak up.

He, too, despised the motion of the compensation when there were innocent lives involved. But before he could say anything, Alice got up, slamming her hands on the table and sending her energy waves all over the hall to silence everyone. She just used a bit, but she was able to get them to shut their mouths.

“Aren’t you all tired of talking?” She asked. “Why don’t the young speak for a change? It’s my turn.”

Devon wondered what she was planning this time. Michael smirked in his mask, having expected her to react in such a way, and the others paid keen attention to her, wondering how this powerful but young teenager had to say amid adults.

Though they knew the fact that she was young never stopped her from saying whatever she had in mind, and she had the power to back her up. Not only that, the chairman, as well as two other S-Class, had her back.

‘She’s grown stronger.’ Adolf thought but little did he know that Alice was on her way to having god-level powers. ‘But I wonder what she has in mind.’

“I’ll say it once and I’ll say it clear,” she said and shot a glare at Su Feng. “If China doesn’t want to help,” she raised one of her hands and gave him the middle finger. “…then fuck off! No one’s looking to spend money on dead weight anyway.”

Her words stunned everyone who heard them. Did she just say China was dead weight? No, other than that. Did she just cuss out in the presence of her seniors?

Alice folded her arms, giving them a nonchalant attitude, and said,

“Anyone who doesn’t want to help should go die for all we care. Awakeneds are a symbol of hope, as I’ve been told, and not a hand-for-hire merchant group. If you plan to be one then you’re not welcome in the task to save the world.”

Silence followed Alice’s extremely rude but true remark, with Su Feng’s face boiling in anger and embarrassment.

“You arrogant brat!” He flared, and Adolf cleared his throat, suppressing a laugh. “Did your parents never teach you to respect your elders? How can you cuss and say such rude things to someone old enough to be your father?!” He yelled, but Alice simply picked her ear and said,

“How unfortunate. It seems your information network is lacking. Or…” She glared at him with a dangerous gaze, sending chills down his spine, “…you just said that to provoke an orphan.”
