Chapter 41: Are you really trying to start a fight?
Chapter 41: Are you really trying to start a fight?
Everyone stared in shock.
But they recovered from that shock right away as Florida made a fighting stance, trying to take down Alice.
“I told you she was dangerous.” She said and charged for Alice, taking out her whip that she tied around her waist like a belt.
It all happened so fast, and even when Devon wanted to stop Florida, he couldn’t react in time.
Florida was, after all, an S-class awakened with stats that made her almost invisible.
That was why she was so proud, and speed…
Well, that was her strong front.
She thought she would be able to use this speed to catch Alice, but she was wrong.
Underestimating the young girl who had moved faster than the speed of light, Florida struck her whip but all it took for Alice to avoid such a fatal attack was a step to the side.
Florida’s whip slashed the ground, breaking it in the process.
“Jeez, are you trying to kill me?” Alice asked and Florida looked at her, stunned.
How did she get away?
“I don’t know why you’re being so hostile towards me but if it’s a fight you’re looking for-” Florida did not even let Alice finish her words and struck her whip once more, aiming for her face.
But this time, Alice did not dodge but rather, caught the whip with her bare hands and looked at it.
It was a grey whip and looked like it was made of alloy but it was far more durable than that.
It was almost indestructible too.
*S-class weapon.* Leo said to her.
‘Yeah, I think I had that figured out.’ Alice thought and looked at Florida, who was trying to retrieve her whip, but Alice’s grip was firm.
“Really?” She asked.
“Are you really trying to start a fight?” “I can’t let a criminal go lose and inflict harm on civilians.” She said and Alice let go of her whip.
“And just how many civilians have I harmed?” She asked with a smirk and started wearing Devon’s coat properly.
Though it was bigger than her, she could make do with it.
And now that she had worn it properly, she didn’t need to worry that it would fly off her shoulder.
“And please don’t call that scumbag.
He hit me first.” She stretched out her hand.
“So, I was just returning the favor.” Florida furrowed her eyebrows and her forehead creased.
Alice was dangerous.
Far more dangerous than she anticipated.

If she was able to dodge her fast whip like it was nothing and even catch it then…
She was far more extraordinary than the normal S-class.
She could tell because she had used the whip on Justin and Devon in the past and they were not able to dodge as flawless as she did.
She could also assume it was just a stroke of luck.
But a strike of luck could not be repeated.
Alice was…
A threat.
She watched Alice stretch her hand, ready to take out her hammer when Devon appeared in between them.
“That’s enough!” Devon said and Alice ceased taking out her hammer.
“Florida, your claims are not without reason but you need to look at the bigger picture here.” He said.
“What bigger picture?” Florida asked, flogging her whip on the ground and destroying it.
She wasn’t even trying to hide her hostility.
“This girl…” She pointed at Alice who was doing basically nothing but stare at her.
“…is dangerous.” “And I still fail to understand your reason.” Devon said.
“How exactly is she ‘dangerous’?” He asked.
“Everyone saw it.
We all waited for her and watched the fluctuations of the red gate.
It was the kind of threat no one has ever seen and it was the exact definition of chaos!” She explained.
“So, for this…
This girl, to go in and come out without a single scratch, it’s very suspicious.
She must be using some sort of dubious power.” “Hey!” Alice exclaimed, offended.
“Florida, I think I understand what’s going on now.” Devon said, calmly.
“Miss Alice is a very talented young girl.
She went into a red gate and came out alive, probably killing the boss who would’ve posed a massive threat to the world.
And then you decide to throw accusations at her and use her title as criminal against her.
There’s only one conclusion there.” Everywhere went silent, wondering what conclusion Devon came up with.
“You’re jealous.” He said and shocked them all.
Florida replayed the words in her head and then she raged.
Her body seemed to be enveloped with her thick purple aura and her eyes glowed angrily.
Her hair scattered about, moving like the snakes on Medusa’s head.
‘Oh my, she’s going full witchy on us.’ Alice thought, watching her levitate.
‘Hm, it’s getting dangerous, right?’ *She’s releasing a massive amount of energy.* Leo explained.
*Probably trying to threaten you and maybe suffocate you.* ‘But jokes on her.
It doesn’t work on me.’ Alice proudly thought.
*But it’s effective for anyone below S-class.* Leo reminded and Alice snapped.
She turned her head to find the awakeneds that had surrounded her on the knees and trying to catch their breath.
And that included Mark.
“Jealous?” Florida asked, slowly levitating into the air.
“Me?
How dare you speak such words against me?” Devon was more than prepared to face her when he made that remark, but to think she would unleash her aura so carelessly and put other people’s lives at stake.
“So, what are you doing to do about it?” Devon asked.
“Are you angry that I said the truth in front of so many people?
Then, you should’ve minded your actions.” The golden bracelets around his wrist glowed and appeared in his hand as a sword.
A beautiful golden sword.
‘Whoa, shiny.’ Alice thought.
*Alice, you can’t let them fight here.
Everyone will get swept into it.* Leo warned.
‘Then should I just tell them to take this fight somewhere else?’ she asked, completely unbothered.
‘I mean, everyone here is an awakened.
I don’t believe they’ll lose their life from getting suffocated by an S-class releasing their aura or by the waves of their battle.’ *You wanna find out?
Be my guest.* Leo said.
‘Wait, they won’t really die, will they?’ She asked but he went silent.
‘Shit, is it that serious?’ She didn’t know.
After all, all the battles she fought were in the tower dungeon and there was no innocent bystander that she needed to be weary of.
So she might’ve been reckless swinging her hammer but she would never know because she didn’t need any form of precaution.
*If you can get one side to stop then it’ll be over right away.* Leo suggested and Alice thought.
To get them to stop, did she need to talk it out with them?
No, she didn’t know them well at all so she didn’t have a clue on what to say.
So, there was just one method left.
“I’m going to make sure you regret blurting that word, Devon.” Florida said, and Devon got ready for her attack, but just before Florida swung her whip, Alice appeared behind her, in the middle of the air, and hit her nape, rendering her unconscious, and she fell with a bang.
“There,” Alice said, landing on her feet.
“Now that the witch is down, can someone take me to my cell?
I’m hungry.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah And there you have it.
Alice is far stronger than the average S-class awakened (but you probably already knew that, hehe) Who else likes Devon?
