- Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 So, I spent all that time alone, killing monsters
Chapter 50: So, I spent all that time alone, killing monsters Chapter 50: So, I spent all that time alone, killing monsters The murderous intent from the council slowly faded as the climatic atmosphere eased down with a sudden wave of confusion.
The chairman laughed once more.
To think a day would come when he would meet someone who could bargain with him.
Ever since he rose to his position, it has always been, ‘Yes sir’ with no arguments whatsoever, so getting someone to bargain with him was a bit refreshing.
And even more when it was a young girl that was young enough to be his daughter or granddaughter even.
“Chairman, we cannot stand this arrogance.” The man standing behind the chairman, presumably his assistant, declared.
“How dare she speak to you in such a manner?” They started murmuring violently.
They could not stand for this disrespect either.
Some were quiet while this was going on.
Devon was silent, staring at Alice and wondering what she was planning.
The same as the tanned bulky man who kept his hand folded and minded his business.
While this was going on, Alice’s gaze was fixed on the chairman, not wavering one bit.
It was interesting and he wanted to know what this young one wanted in exchange for an answer.
“Alright,” he said, shutting everyone up.
“What do you want?” They looked at him in disbelief, wondering why he was being so lenient to this girl.
“Ah, finally,” Alice’s face lit in glee.
She sat on the bed of the table in front of one of the council members and crossed her legs.
She faced the chairman and she started yapping like she was some gossip girl, narrating to her squad how her day went.
“So, you know that I’ve been in the dungeon gate, and according to the date on Earth here, it’s been four weeks, but in reality, I’ve been in there for four months.
Can you believe that?” She expressed her expressions in shock and then acted pitifully.
“I was in there alone.” She sniffed.
“Poor me.” They were a bit confused.
Where did this drama come from?
But that aside, they noted the fact that she meant the time that flowed in the dungeon was faster than it did on Earth.
That was a very valuable discovery but Alice wouldn’t give them time to ask questions as she kept yapping, “So, I spent all that time alone, killing monsters and starving.” She closed her eyes in sorrow and beat her chest.
“Poor me.” This performance…
Where was it going and why were they finding it hard to interrupt her?
Alice got down from the table she was sitting on and started walking towards the middle, dragging her feet and sniffing sadly.
“You may not know this but I almost drowned.
Almost got roasted by Lava eels and was chased by angry crimson griffins just because I stole their egg.

I was thinking of making an omelet and finally eating something, but…” She shook her head, letting the painful glistening tears at the corner of her eyes fall.
“And the most painful part was that I slipped and it broke.
I was so heartbroken.
Poor me.” Alice polished her performance enough that they would be able to see the despair she passed through, alone in that dungeon.
“And after months of scorching through the dungeon, climbing floors I finally killed the boss.
It wasn’t easy.” She sniffed.
“But I managed to accomplish the impossible and got out of the dungeon.
I thought I would come out and finally get a meal but…” She fell to the ground, the spotlight falling on her, and she acted like a fallen damsel in distress.
“…all that awaited me was the cruel reality I faced.
I was attacked by my fellow humans, sniff.
Poor me.
Will anyone help me?
Will anyone see my suffering and bring me justice?
Oh, how pitiful I am.” She bowed her head.
It looked like she had ended her performance and it gave her her desired result.
Her performance made her seem so pitiful that it brought a few to tears but some hardened their hearts.
The chairman got over his emotional state and cleared his throat.
“So, what is it that you want, Miss Alice?” He asked and Alice took that as her queue to shine.
She rose to her feet, and in a single step, stood in front of the chairman, and she said, “Oh, nothing big.
Just hire your best chefs to prepare a bountiful meal for me right away and I will open my lips to answer whatever you want.” Ah, so, she was just trying to say she was hungry all along.
What a strange girl!
“In this day and age,” the man sitting next to the chairman began with his rants.
“…are there still awakeneds who worry about eating?
Are you trying to make a fool out of us?” Alice looked at him and frowned.
Why was he trying to sink her boat?
He folded his arms, disgruntled, and said, “Chairman, this girl is trying to make fun of us.
It’s very clear.
She’s probably hiding something.
We should make her talk.” He said, forcefully banging his hand on the table, “She mentioned something about the time-varying, so let’s start with that.
It could be a lie because there has been no mention of that in any of the gates raided in the past.
So, how come it suddenly comes up when she raids it alone?
She has to tell us what she knows and the exact situation of the gate she cleared.
For all we know, she made all that up and the gate was nothing but a wasteland.” “Oh, don’t be such a killjoy.” Someone said from the top floor and they raised their heads to see who it was.
The person who spoke wore a white mask and though in the presence of powerful people, he acted carefree, crossing his legs on the table in front of him and resting his back on his chair while tipping it over.
“How do you expect a person to come out of a red gate just because you assume it might’ve been nothing but a wasteland.” He tittered.
“It’s hilarious, honestly.” Alice looked up at him.
Why was he helping her?
Well, at least there was one person with a bit of common sense.
Or maybe he just fell for her glamorous acting, hehe.
But…
She could not ignore that his voice sounded familiar.
Have they met before?
“A red gate is a red gate.” Devon spoke up.
“A simple individual cannot clear such a gate.
Also, we all experienced the waves of energy coming from the gate, as well as the tumor in the ground.
Do you believe such a gate would’ve been easily cleared?” His eyes went cold and the man had to shut his mouth for a second.
‘Awn, he’s such a gentleman.’ Alice thought and the chairman finally spoke up.
“Miss Alice said all those things on her own.” He said.
“If we do what she wants now, she will explain clearly without the use of force, ” he eyed the man sitting next to him and then back to Alice with a smile.
“Isn’t that right?” “Yes,” she nodded.
“And could you do that first?
I need to eat before I do anything more.” “Alright.
I will heed your request.” He said, snapping his fingers and his assistant started making the calls.
“But be sure to know that you will gain nothing from crossing me.” His eyes blazed, and she smiled confidently.
“That won’t be a problem, because I have no plans to do so.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah And here we go to food town
