- Chapter 54 - Chapter 54 Never been complimented before
Chapter 54: Never been complimented before Chapter 54: Never been complimented before “I said you’re gonna laugh but it’s not that funny, haha.
You see I…
I lost my memory after leaving the gate?” Everyone went silent and if a pin dropped that very moment then they would definitely hear it.
“What?
Do you take us from fools?” Su Feng asked.
“You lost your memory?” “Well, not all of it.” She said, “Just the part where I suddenly awakened.
I didn’t recall anything from there and that’s why I kept insisting that I wasn’t an awakened.” “And how do you expect us to believe that?!” Fredrick asked and Alice shot him a glare, shutting him up right away.
He already has his fair share of beating.
Was he asking for more?
‘Ugh, they always want proof.
How do I go about this?’ *Alice,* ‘Yeah?’ *Do you remember when Mark kept talking about a video?
In that video, it must’ve shown you going into the gate and going out.
There must’ve been a clip showing when you struggled with the three-eyed red wolf.
Just use that as evidence.* He explained and Alice snapped her fingers.
‘That’s right.’ she looked up at them.
“I have proof.” She said.
“You do?” Su Feng asked and then looked at her suspiciously.
“Are you trying to play tricks with us?” “No, not tricks.” She shook her head.
“But before I say what it is, will showing you proof that I lost my memory at that time make you believe that I’m a legendary class?” She asked.
“Of course not.
You’ll have to show us in a battle that you are really as powerful as you say you are.
As for the proof, you’ll need it to remove your label as a criminal.
That is, if you do have it.” He explained and Alice nodded.
If it was to fight to prove herself then she had no problem but was that necessary?
She didn’t want to be revered as a powerful being.
All she wanted to do was eat.
But it seems like Leo had other plans, so exposing her true strength to the representatives from all over the world was important.
“Well, where is the proof?” “My Jailer.” She said, putting her hands on her waist.
“Mark has my evidence.” Well, she could just say it was in the video they’ve all probably seen of her, coming out of the red gate a few months ago but…
She decided to use this opportunity to get Mark in there with her.

Who knew what they were doing to him wherever he was?
Devon got down from his chair and walked towards her.
He said, “I’ll go get him.” And after which, he whispered, “Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” She looked at him, smiled, and asked, “Are you worrying about me?” Why wouldn’t he worry?
He knew she was powerful, just from witnessing a few of her moves but he didn’t know if she was lying about a lot of things to get herself out of trouble.
This mess…
Lying would not get her out of it but rather…
It would push her deep into it.
“Yes, I am.” He said and she paused.
She did not expect him to admit that.
She stared at him.
Devon was quite the good-looking guy.
Too good-looking, in fact, that he attracted unnecessary flies.
Yet, he didn’t raise his shoulders and from the first moment they met, he had been good and kind to her.
She hadn’t known him for long and hadn’t had a conversation more than a few lines but she could tell the kind of person he was from the few times they met.
He wasn’t pretentious, pompous, or hyper like someone with excessive adrenaline running through him.
He was just…
Him.
If she were to describe him.
He was a righteous saint.
She smiled.
“Thanks,” she said.
“…
But I’m not lying so you don’t have to worry.
Just tell Mark to give you ‘the’ video he never let me watch.’ He looked at her.
Though he did not understand what she meant by that, he would be sure to pass on the message.
And then his eyes fell on her lips that were curved in a smile.
He stared at them for a few seconds and then rolled his eyes to look forward.
“You have a pretty smile.” He suddenly whispered, “Uh, thanks?” She didn’t know where that compliment came from but since it was from him, she was sure he meant it.
He disappeared, teleporting towards where Mark was kept and Alice massaged her cheeks.
*What are you doing?* ‘Wondering if my smile is funny.’ she thought.
*Funny?
I’m certain he said your smile was pretty.* ‘Uh, yeah but…
That’s the weird part.
Why would he tell me that all of a sudden?’ *…* He went silent for a minute, probably thinking of a possible reason why he would say that but came up with nothing.
*I don’t know.
Sigh.
Why are you thinking too much about it?
You’ve become a very pretty human girl now so he probably just honestly complimented you.
But even before your vessels were reconstructed and you got a glow-up, I don’t think you were that bad-looking.
You are okay, honestly.
Has no one ever told you you were pretty?* ‘…
‘ Alice once again looked like a forsaken damsel, confirming that she had indeed never been told, not once, that she was pretty.
*Sigh.
The past is the past.* ‘Is that how you’re gonna console me?’ She yelled in her mind, ‘I’ve never once been called pretty, okay?
Not that I bothered about it.’ she folded her arms.
‘But it felt…
Nice?
Anyway, it’s weird.’ *Then stop thinking about it.* She folded her arms and pouted her lips.
Who was it that asked the questions in the first place?
Devon appeared back with Mark right next to Alice.
She looked at him and scanned him properly, making sure he was fine and unharmed.
Seeing that he was fine, she gave out a sigh of relief and said, “For a moment there, I thought you were being tortured.” She said.
“And why would you think that?” Mark asked her but she shrugged.
No reason at all.
Mark looked towards the council but not after his eyes had caught the smashed wall, and gotten a whiff of the sweet smell of roasted steak and fried chicken.
He didn’t know what happened but he was definitely, a hundred percent sure, that Alice had been involved with everything.
She probably got them to get food for her before she talked.
He shook his head.
Typical Alice.
Mark stepped forward and bowed his head before taking out the USB drive that he kept in his pocket.
“I believe the proof you’re seeking is in this USB drive.” He said.
