- Chapter 55 - Chapter 55 Ah, this must be what I forgot that day
Chapter 55: Ah, this must be what I forgot that day Chapter 55: Ah, this must be what I forgot that day “My name is Mark Steiner, the jailer who was in charge of Alice during her time in the facility as a criminal.
And I believe the proof you’re seeking is in this USB drive.” Mark said.
After Devon appeared where he was kept, he explained to Mark that Alice was trying to prove she had lost her memories after leaving the red gate.
“She says it’s the video you never let her watch.” As soon as Devon said this, Mark’s mind went to that video from the red gate.
“I know it but it’s not here.” He said.
“We’ll have to go back to the facility,” ***** Alice looked at the USB drive in Mark’s hand, stunned.
“Boss, you carried that with you the whole time?” She asked but he shook his head and didn’t say more.
Instead, he focused his attention on the chairman who was letting his aura seep out to test this sudden ‘alibi’.
“Are you certain that what is inside that USB can prove her claims?” The chairman, Adolf, asked, and Mark, looking unwavered, answered, “If she believes it can then I believe so too.” He said, firmly standing his grands.
“Alice…
Is not a liar.” Alice felt touched that he was standing up for her like that, but she knew better than anyone that, standing in front of the council, she had mixed a lot of lies with her truth.
But to her, it’s all for a good cause so it didn’t matter if someone stood up for her and claimed she had never lied.
‘Ugh, I feel guilty for some reason.’ Knowing someone upright like Mark would go that far for her made her feel guilty.
Wait, if they find out she lied, wouldn’t he be dragged into it?
*You just have to make sure they never find out, then.* Leo said to her and she closed her eyes.
Yes, that was the only way to go.
Adolf signaled his assistant, Marcus, to go forward and get the USB.
Since there was evidence there, and that seemingly was the only way to show that she wasn’t lying, he would go forth with it.
But he hoped deep down that this girl was not trying to pull a prank on them.
Because if her words turned out to be a lie, the matter would escalate and she would forever be seen as a liar.
All lights were reduced, leaving the hall dim as Marcus inserted the USB drive somewhere (help, I don’t know) and looked up to see the projection of the video.
The video, showed Alice walking into that open space where there was a red gate and, as if something suddenly came over her, she grabbed her head and started groaning in pain.
Alice watched, unable to recall any of that happening.
‘Ah, this must be what I forgot that day.’ she thought.
Then, it showed Alice standing upright, exuding a different air and having a murderous look on her face.
She charged for the gate and it sealed up.
Everyone’s eyes fell on Alice in that dimly lit hall, wondering how she was going to explain what just happened.
But Alice, dropped her head to the side, lazily and shrugged.
“I have no idea when that happened.” She said, and they started murmuring.
“I’m serious though.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
I can’t remember that.” Adolf looked towards Marcus and nodded his head at him, indicating he could forward the video.
The video was forwarded till it got to where the gate opened up and a red wolf ran out.
It didn’t look like it was the boss and was rather weak.
Then, Alice walked out and everyone paid keen attention to see what she was going to do.
The moment Alice walked out, looking completely unscathed, without a single stain on her, she glared at the red wolf who was growling at her, thick saliva dripping down from its open mouth.
Its fangs were sharp and its three eyes were fixed on her.
And suddenly, instead of attacking the red wolf, Alice grabbed her head once more, grunting as pain swallowed her up.
The red wolf charged for her in her defenseless state but before it could get to her.
She jumped and coincidentally landed in the same spot where she had the first pain surge.
As soon as she landed, the pain subsided and like a naive and unskilled girl, Alice ran to hide as soon as she spotted the red wolf.
And then the rest was as we all know it.
Alice looked towards the council who watched her fight sloppily with the red wolf, getting a piece of flesh on her shoulder ripped off and struggling to kill just one red wolf.
“Ahem,” Alice cleared her throat and all eyes fell on her.
“I believe you understand what happened from the video.” “That doesn’t explain anything.” Su Feng stated and her eyes turned glazed, getting fed up with his relentless stubbornness.
“Uh, hello.
Did you not just watch that video?
Or am I the only one who saw it?” Alice asked, searching around to see if anyone else had any objections.
The lights came up again and the relentless Su Feng folded his arms.
“Yes, I watched it.” He said.
“But that does not prove you lost your memory about being an awakened.
In fact, it doesn’t prove anything.
It just showed us how reckless you were, going into a red gate alone without any authorized permissions.” Alice felt irked.
She couldn’t take it anymore.
This guy was far older than her yet he was acting like a spoiled kid, who refused to see what was in front of him.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Alice said, having a sarcastic tone at the tip of her tongue.
“It’s not my fault you’re not smart enough to grasp what happened.” This comment offended Su Feng.
“You…” He released his aura but then Adolf cleared his throat, interrupting his intentions to attack Alice.
“Chairman, I cannot stand for this girl’s impertinence.
How dare she insult me?” He claimed but Adolf simply raised his hand and said, “If there is anyone who understands what just unfolded properly and believes Miss Alice, please raise your hands.” Su Feng was confident no one would, but to his greatest shock, everyone started raising their hands, one by one.
He looked to his left and right but they were all raising their hands.
Even Fredrick who previously opposed Alice was raising his hand.
“What…?
What’s going on?” Su Feng exclaimed confused.
Adolf looked up at him with a sharp gaze and said, “So you see, Miss Alice did not insult you but rather stated a fact.
You’re the only one who doesn’t understand what happens in the video.” But then he shook his head and gave him a threatening glare, “Or rather still, you just choose not to understand.
Either way, it’s not her fault.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Yeah, no He’s just dumb, lol
