- Chapter 63 - Chapter 63 It was unheard of and went against social morals
Chapter 63: It was unheard of and went against social morals Chapter 63: It was unheard of and went against social morals Alice stared at the envelope and then she blinked.
Ah, she almost forgot about her money.
And there was something else she had forgotten.
Not that she would’ve been able to do anything if she had even kept it at the back of her mind.
She tore her gaze from the envelope, dropped her spoon on the table, and picked up the bowl of hot soup, drinking it directly out of the bowl, throwing out all forms of table manners.
Mark watched her, wondering why she was in a hurry.
Well, she was always in a hurry to finish her meal without a reason, but this time, it felt like she was actually in a hurry for something.
“Thanks for the meal.” She said and got up.
“I’ll be heading out first.” Mark caught her arm, stopping her in her tracks.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“Ah, nowhere.” She said, and with a smile too, but that only made him believe she was lying.
She wasn’t going ‘nowhere’.
Where was she going in such a hurry?
Alice’s eyes fell on Mark’s bowl of soup and said, “But if you’re not going to drink your soup, I can sit back and help you.
Mine didn’t go anywhere.” Mark stared at her, his eyebrows furrowing.
She was changing the subject.
All she did was drink the soup.
She didn’t even wait till he served the actual course meal.
What was she planning to do?
‘It doesn’t look like she’ll tell me.’ he thought, lowering his gaze.
‘Even if I pressure her to tell me, she won’t if she doesn’t want to.
It’s like she doesn’t trust me enough to tell me.’ “Mark,” Alice asked and he raised his head.
“You don’t have to worry.
I’m not going to get myself in trouble.” She said and he blinked.
“And,” she snatched the envelope from his other hand.
“…I’ll also need this.
Thanks.” Mark lowered his hand, letting go of her arm, and brushed his forehead with his palm.
How was he to believe she was not planning to do anything dangerous when she was going out fully determined?
She may not get in trouble but she would definitely put others in trouble if she threw a fit for no reason.
He didn’t know her habits that well.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
He didn’t know how well she did, interacting with others.
Was she a troublemaker?
Likely.
Was she capable of starting a fight over the smallest things?
Definitely.
All the more reason why he was worrying.
Or was she just going shopping?
She took the money from him so it was likely.
“Mark,” Alice called but he was stuck in his thoughts.
Mark has become Alice’s guardian, but he couldn’t bring himself to enforce any rules on her.
Not that he wanted to.
She used to live a wild life and probably lived by others’ rules, too.
So, thinking of enforcing rules on her made it seem like he was trying to control her life, just as others had been doing all along.
He sighed.
He was still trying to figure out what the chairman wanted from him.
He was torn, considering if the chairman made him her guardian for her own good or if he was just meant to keep an eye on her, make sure she did not go out of line and stay on the side of humanity.
That was probably it.
If not, he could not picture a normal scenario where a girl her age, would be easily given to a man to live alone under one roof.
It was unheard of and went against social morals.
But maybe they just weren’t treating her as a young girl, as a human, since she was so unbelievably powerful and- “Mark!” Alice yelled fiercely in his ear, finally breaking him out of his thoughts and he looked down at her.
“Ugh, finally.
Where did you sell your mind to?
I’ve been calling out to you for a while now.
So does this mean I’ve been talking to myself this whole time?” Mark blinked and rubbed his eyes.
He let himself get carried away by his thoughts.
“What is it?” “Oh my God, I’ve indeed been talking to myself.
Do I have to start all over?” She asked but shook her bead.
“No, I’ll just get to the point.” Mark wondered what she had been talking about all along while he was lost in his thoughts.
If only he was paying attention.
“To sum it up, I was just asking how much I’ll make from selling everything here.” She said and he looked at what she was referring to.
What was she planning to sell?
His eyes shot out as he beheld the sparkling treasures that had filled his living room from God knows where.
There were weapons, shields, gauntlets, and even full body armor that could be rated SS-class.
Some artifacts could boost one’s strength, agility, and the likes, healing potions of top quality, and even extremely rare elixirs that the most popular alchemy guild used billions to create.
Yes, there was an alchemy guild.
It wasn’t as famous as the top five guilds but it was the best when it came to creating potions and elixirs, from materials gotten from dungeons.
They were a vital contribution to awakeneds, but the guild was very expensive to maintain, so maybe that was why they weren’t very famous.
The people’s hard-earned money was being poured into research and experiments.
In any case, everything in his living room was top and rare grade.
“What…
Where…?
Where did all this come from?” He asked, flabbergasted and she shrugged.
“See, you weren’t listening.” She said.
“I’ll explain again.
I got these treasures and dozens of artifacts as a reward for clearing the dungeon.” “Is this all of it?” He asked, turning his head left and right, amazed by how bountiful the treasures were but she snickered and said, “This ain’t even half of it.” She felt proud and his reaction probably meant they were worth a fortune.
Hehe, just as she thought.
She had hit the jackpot.
She rubbed her hands together, snickering to herself like an evil plotter.
“Alice, what are you planning to do with these?” Mark asked and she snapped out of her evil side.
“Hm?” “No,” he pressed his hand on his forehead.
“How did you even get all of it here?” On hearing that, she took that as a cue to proudly flaunt her spatial ring, one of a kind and the only one existing in the world.
“Look at this,” she said, showing the ring on her finger.
Mark looked at the ring.
He noticed it a while back but he didn’t think too much about it.
It looked like a normal ring and didn’t really come off as rare, so he assumed it was a simple artifact that had little functions.
“What is it?” He asked.
“This, here, mister, is a spatial ring.
And…” He activated it, stretching her hand out and all the treasures turned into fragment pieces before disappearing into the ring.
“…this is what it does.” Mark watched with his eyes widened in disbelief.
He rubbed his eyes to make sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him but it was true.
That ring has sucked in everything in the living room.
(Just the treasures tho) How did that…
How did that happen?
“Pretty cool, right?” She brushed her nose, seeing his expression of disbelief.
“It’s like a moveable storage.
Pretty handy.” Mark was speechless.
That one single ring was housing so many treasures?
Did she get such a handy and extremely rare item in the dungeon?
Because he knew he had never heard of it.
But that aside…
“Alice,” he called.
“Yeah?” “Why did you…
Show me the function of your ring?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
