- Chapter 64 - Chapter 64 Weapons could be accessorized
Chapter 64: Weapons could be accessorized Chapter 64: Weapons could be accessorized Mark was speechless.
That one single ring was housing so many treasures?
Did she get such a handy and extremely rare item in the dungeon?
Because he knew he had never heard of it.
But that aside…
“Alice,” he called.
“Yeah?” “Why did you…
Show me the function of your ring?” He suddenly asked.
“I thought it was an ordinary ring until now.
You didn’t…
You didn’t have to show me.” “Huh?
What are you talking about?” She tilted her head, not getting his point.
“That…
Do you trust me enough to show me such a precious item?” He asked.
“Well, why not?” She said and his heart skipped a beat.
It made him feel he was special somehow, and that she trusted him more than he thought until she said, “It’s not like I plan to hide it anyway.” An arrow of pain shot at Mark’s heart.
“The whole world could know about it and I still wouldn’t care.” Another arrow of disappointment shot at his heart.
“Cause no one’s capable of ripping it off my finger anyway.” Mark dropped his head in defeat.
What was he expecting?
He rubbed his face.
He shouldn’t expect too much from Alice.
If not, he’d only end up disappointed.
“Alice, even if they can’t rip it off your finger, it’ll just make people come after you, giving you no peace.
So, don’t tell anyone.
Keep the function of the ring to yourself.” He advised and she gave it a thought.
“Hm, I do like my peace of mind.” She said, twisting her lips.
“Then I’m gonna keep it to myself.
No big deal.” He sighed, glad she decided on the right thing.
A ring with such functions, anyone would be envious of it.
Anyone would try to get their hands on it.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
And as a result, they would all keep coming at her.
They would push aside the fact that she had saved the world and so she deserves to keep that item for herself and act based on their greed.
Humans were greedy, selfish, and extremely flawed.
They could go to any lengths to get what they want.
“Is that where you keep your weapon?” He asked her and she nodded.
“Yeah,” her hammer materialized in her hand, and she swung it, creating a soft breeze that blew their hair lightly.
“Pretty neat.” “Then if anyone asks you, just tell them that it’s your hammer.” He said, placing his hands on her shoulders but she did not quite follow.
“Come again.” Weapons could be accessorized.
Just like Devon, whose sword was the pretty golden bracelet around his wrist, and Mark’s lightning chains (his weapon) were the gold neck chain he wrote around his neck.
It looked like a normal chain and was almost not noticeable.
This was how most awakeneds, who could afford the accessorization of their weapons, carried their weapons around.
So, Alice would disguise her ring as her weapon.
“Do you understand now?” He asked and she nodded.
“Yes, yes.
So take your hands off already.” She said and he reflexively took them off her shoulder, as if she would cut them off if they stayed a second more.
He noticed she didn’t like him dropping his hands on her shoulders.
Was there a reason?
But he didn’t bother to ask and instead, asked something that he felt was more relevant, “So, what do you plan to do with them?” He asked her, referring to the treasures she had stored in her ring and she rubbed the back of her neck, taking back her hammer into the ring.
“Hm, you tell me.” She said.
“I don’t need them, but I’ll definitely need the cash that comes from selling all of it, so I’m leaving it all to you.” She started heading for the door.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“I told you, nowhere.” Ah, that’s right.
He interrupted her from heading out.
But he didn’t think she would waste time with him, since she had been in a hurry.
Well, since she wasn’t planning to tell him, he at least needed to know that she was ‘safe’.
“Wait,” he said and she looked over her shoulder.
Mark had gotten her a communication device.
Ah, blah.
He got her a phone.
A brand new phone.
He handed it to her and said, “I already transferred the contacts from your old phone to the new one.
And I put my number in it too.
So, you can call me if anything happens.” “Wow, when’d you do that?” She asked, referring to the contacts transfer as she accepted the phone.
“I’m certain my belongings just touched down a few minutes ago.” She said with a suspicious brow, but he looked away and cleared his throat.
He wasn’t going to tell her that he made a copy of the files and everything in her phone when she was newly transferred to the facility.
And with that, he was able to transfer everything back to her new phone.
He knew her belongings would come back without anything missing, but he felt she needed a new phone, especially knowing her old one had a cracked screen and was a very old model.
Seeing Mark wasn’t going to answer her question, she let the shy fish swim away and sighed.
“Thanks anyway,” she said, tucking the phone in her jacket pocket.
She was wearing a bright pink jacket, light pink inner, and bright pink shorts.
Even her sneakers were pink and white.
She hated it but she had no choice.
She could either go with that or walk around naked.
“I’ll be back soon.” She turned to the door.
“Are you sure…?” Mark paused.
He wanted to ask once more if she really wasn’t going to tell him anything about where she was going.
Sensing his question, Alice let out a little laugh and looked up at him.
He looked worried.
Seriously, did he think she was a simple child?
She used to run errands for criminals and put her life on the line almost every day.
And not just that, she just came back from a dungeon raid, all by herself.
How could he still look at her like a normal, average girl?
‘Guess he’s been the only one who looked at me with those eyes.’ she thought, a little Melo, and said, “I’ll give you a hint.” She raised her head and smirked.
“A dog always goes back to its master.” And with that, she shut the door, having this dark look on her face.
Mark stood still, staring at the door.
A dog…
Always goes back to its master?
She…
She wasn’t planning to go back there, was she?
Back to that den that treated humans like they were disposable property, in the name of giving them protection…
Was she?
His eyes turned cold and he clenched his fists.
His veins bulged and he gritted his teeth.
But then, he snapped out of it and looked at his palm.
He was losing control and still didn’t know why.
‘This is new.’ he thought.
CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah What you are feeling is…
I don’t even know what he’s feeling.
Haha, it could be amger on her behalf but he’s definitely changing, showing emotions he generally never show.
I’ll speak more about him in the next chapter.
Or wait, should I just skip his backstory?
