Chapter 86: So, it gets heavier by the second?
Training for awakeneds was quite similar to normal humans.
But the equipment they used wasn’t the norm.
They were mostly powered with mana stones to accommodate awakeneds strength and immerse speed.
Alice stared at the treadmill, her memory taking her back to her past encounter with it.
“Hm, am I gonna pay if I break anything?” She asked, pointing at the treadmill and turning to Mark.
“Because I assure you, I will break things.” “I am aware.” Mark said, his eyes narrowed as he recalled her reckless behavior during her speed test.
He was there firsthand, so he knew quite well that mana stone equipment, or any equipment for that matter, would end up being a wreck under her usage.
“And luckily, we aren’t using any of that.” He said and pushed her by the shoulder towards the end of the room.
They were in Mark’s gym room, which he hardly ever used.
But the tools were top tier and it had this crazy amount of space.
It had been enhanced by rune casters.
Yes, there were rune casters among awakeneds.
They were more on the mage side as awakeneds, but they were rarer than S-class awakeneds.
Luckily for him, the lady who used to stay in that pink room used to be a rune caster and she did this for him for free.
She just took it as her rent fee, for staying in that room he provided.
At the end of the room, there were weights, also equipped with mana stones.
“These ones also have mana stones,” Alice pointed out.
“I know.
But they’re different.
Try to lift that one.” He pointed at the one that was labeled 1500 kg.
Alice bent down and tried to lift it but for some reason, she couldn’t.
“Hm, is it stuck to the ground by chance?” She asked but he shook his head.
“It’s because you’re not using your strength.
What you’re doing is trying to pick it up with the strength you use on a daily basis.” He said and she gave it a thought.
So, in other words, she just needed to put it at the back of her mind that she was lifting a heavy object.
Got it.
“Okay.
I’ll try one more time.” She said and took in a deep breath, not that she needed to, before lifting it.

She had a bad form as a weightlifter, bending her back and not spreading her legs properly, but it wasn’t like they were lifting it for the sake of being a weightlifter.
She raised it high above her head and said, “Hm, I feel this is a tiny bit heavier than my hammer.” She said but by the second, she started noticing something.
“Hm, is it just me, or is it adding a bit more weight?
Mark, I feel like it’s getting heavier.” “That’s its purpose.” He said but she was lost.
“What?” The mana stones on those weights had a peculiar function that could increase the gravity around whoever was using them, and not just the weight itself.
That is, the weights got heavier by the second, and it was up to the user to persevere for as long as they could.
If they had just enough strength, they would not falter.
But if not, they would fall and the weight may end up crushing them with the steadily increasing gravity.
This training also increased stamina, so it was a win-win.
“So, it gets heavier by the second?” She asked and he nodded.
“But I believe this shouldn’t be a problem for you, Alice.” Mark said and took out a timer watch from his pocket.
“If you can unleash the monstrous strength in you, you can hold that thing up for hours and not get tired.” He set the timer and then glanced up at her.
“Do you wish to continue or quit?” “Let’s just do it.” Alice said, giving it no thought, whatsoever.
“Alright.” Alice stood there with the weight above her head, the gravity increasing steadily, but she was not yet fazed.
About an hour later, Mark looked at the watch and then at the space around Alice.
One hour was the longest anyone had ever lasted.
Alice was beating the record.
That was to be expected, honestly.
But how much was weighing her down that she was still not fazed, closing her eyes and enduring quietly.
She was probably focusing on her strength, as Mark had asked her to.
But her endurance and strength were crazy.
Too crazy.
She was…
a monster.
He could practically see the blur around her, thanks to the gravity that had been impaired.
The ground was also gradually cracking as well, which shouldn’t be so.
The ground was made to withstand even the fiercest battles.
At least, that was one purpose of the rune cast in that room.
But if it was already cracking, then didn’t it mean that it had reached its limits?
And its limit was crazy high.
He decided to check how much Alice was enduring.
He walked around and looked at the number counting on the weight and his eyes widened when he saw the numbers counting up per second.
70,0890 kilogram.
How was Alice still holding that up with a straight face?
Just how much strength did she have?
He gulped, calming himself and reminding himself that Alice was a special case.
“Alice, how are you doing?” He asked.
“Pretty tight but I’m alright.” She answered and furrowed her eyebrows.
“Will you shut it already?” She suddenly yelled, taking Mark aback.
“I said I know so shut it.” She was…
Talking to the voice in her head, wasn’t she?
Alice brought the argument from her thoughts out to the open because she was honestly fed up with Leo’s nagging.
“Alice, are…
Are you…
Okay?” Mark asked, sincerely worried.
Alice shot her eyes open in annoyance and then glanced at Mark, “How long has it been yet?” She asked and he answered, quite confused, but answered, “An hour and a few minutes.” He said.
“Aish, why do I have to listen to him lecture?
I’m doing it right, aren’t I?” “Yes, you’re doing great.” Mark answered.
*It’s because I’ve been putting you through it, so don’t complain.* Leo said and she furrowed her eyebrows.
“Yeah, right.
You were just distracting me throughout.
I agree you said a few meaningful things but the rest just became annoying since you were repeating one thing over and over.
Gah!” She screamed and the ground underneath her cracked.
“What are you trying to achieve, dammit!” “Alice, please calm down.” Mark said.
He did not know why she was so annoyed or what her conversation with the voice in her head was, but he knew that if she lost control, coupled with the intense gravity, the ground underneath her would definitely break, and she would fall.
And worse…
She could destroy the entire floor.
“Leo, you’re hiding something.
What are you trying to make me do?” She asked and Leo raged at her.
*Your gravity skill, idiot!
I’m trying to help you acquire it, you stubborn, crazy, and overbearing brat.
This is the only way to acquire that skill, so quit complaining and do as I say!* CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Want to know more about their argument?
