- Chapter 88 - Chapter 88 When I give you the signal, go ahead
Chapter 88: When I give you the signal, go ahead Chapter 88: When I give you the signal, go ahead *Your gravity skill, idiot!
I’m trying to help you acquire it, you stubborn, crazy, and overbearing brat.
This is the only way to acquire that skill, so quit complaining and do as I say!* Alice went silent.
She looked at Mark who was still finding this situation awkward and uncomfortable and said, “Well, why didn’t you say that all along?
It could’ve made things easier, you know?” Mark stayed silent.
He had a feeling she wasn’t talking to him.
*Sigh.
Just do it.
It’s so hard to explain things to you.* He said.
“Well, it would’ve been easy if you had just explained it from the beginning.
You said you wouldn’t tell me the conditions to acquire the skills.
Why now?” *It’s because the time is right.
Duh!* “You’re so unreliable sometimes.” She said and sighed.
“Mark, I’m sorry.
Did I freak you out?” “It’s not a problem.
I just want to know, are you okay?” He asked, concerned.
“Should we stop the training for now?
You seem to have gotten a hang of things.” “Hm, I’d like to stop but there’s something I need to do.” She said.
” Could you…step back a bit?” She asked and Mark took a few steps back.
*He’ll have to step further away if he doesn’t want to get caught up in it.* Leo warned.
“Alright, Mark.
You’ll have to get far far away.” She said and he asked, “What are you planning to do?” “If I tell you, you may not understand.” She said.
Mark was worried.
Not only had she held that stance for more than an hour, she was going to do something extreme.
“Alice, I hope you know what you’re doing.” He said before walking further back.
“Don’t worry, Boss.
I got it.” She said and added, as she was not very certain.
“I think.” “Just be careful.” *Now, Alice, I need you to fight gravity by releasing far more aura, mana, and whatever energy you have while I tamper with the function of the weight.* He said and she licked her lips, ready for action.
“Alright.” *When I give you the signal, go ahead.* “And how do I know it’s the signal?” She asked but he did not give her a response and instead, went ahead with the plan, yelling in her head, *Do it now!* The gravity increased tremendously, and she released her aura, trying to fight it.
Her strength could rival it with proper output so she gave it her all.

Mark was almost blown away.
The air around had thickened so much that he was finding it hard to breathe.
The entire gym had been dominated.
He struggled to get out of the room, and only when he had reached the door was he able to breathe normally.
Just what in the world was she doing?
He wondered.
Was she trying to go past her limit and breakthrough?
It looked like it.
He watched the surge of energy shifting away heavy pieces of equipment from their positions.
Then, his eyes went to the ground underneath her.
It was cracking more.
It looked like it would break.
Then, he heard the doorbell.
It’s funny how he was able to hear it from the gym room and with all this energy surge, too.
“Who could it be at this time?” He wondered but was hesitant to go down.
He wanted to watch the process.
He wanted to see what Alice was after for her to go so extreme.
But the person at the door wouldn’t stop ringing the bell.
Was it someone from the agency?
It was definitely not a delivery man because he did not order delivery.
Ah, could it be the plumber?
He was able to stop the leaking with a bit of a fix, but it wasn’t permanent, so he called the plumber.
‘But isn’t it too late to be arriving now?’ he wondered and took one long look at Alice and the raging energy around her.
‘I’ll just be gone for a second.’ he thought to himself and rushed out.
He walked down the stairs in a hurry and got to the door, planning to just lead the plumber to the kitchen and then go back to check up on Alice.
But the moment he opened the door, he wished he had never come down in the first place.
“Mister Devon Snow, what are you doing here?” He asked the person at the door, Devon, who gave a slight wave with a friendly smile.
“Hi.
I’m here to see Miss Alice.” He said and walked in, against Mark’s wishes.
And as soon as he did, he sensed the tremendous energy coming from upstairs.
“What’s going on?
Why does it feel like two S-class awakeneds are fighting upstairs?” He asked Mark.
“There’s nothing like that.
Alice is just using my training room.” He said.
“Alone?” Mark nodded and Devon’s eyebrows slightly furrowed.
It was just her making that massive energy wave?
He could feel it so vividly from down there.
Just what was she doing?
“Did the agency send you to check up on her?” Mark asked but Devon shook his head and said, “I’m just here to offer her a position in my guild.” He said, causing Mark to frown.
Why were they all selfishly trying to get Alice?
She was alright where she was.
She didn’t need a guild or a backer.
She didn’t need connections.
She could handle herself, and though she made him worried sometimes, he knew it was all for naught since she could take care of herself without any problems.
Yet, he felt he needed to take care of her with all he had.
“So, I have a really nice offer for her that she’ll be sure to love.” He said with a hearty smile and looked towards the stairs.
“I’ll just use this opportunity to peek at her training.” “Stop this.” Mark suddenly said, standing up to him with an angry look on his face and clenching his fists.
“What did you say?” Devon asked as he turned to him.
“I couldn’t hear you over the energy waves.” “Miss Alice isn’t looking for a guild to join.” He stated.
“So stop trying to recruit her.” “Hm, that may be the case, but in this world, everyone wants to join a guild, and unless she’s planning to create one of her own, I’d like her to come join mine,” Devon explained, his eyes throwing lightning bolts at Mark.
“And I don’t think it’s in your place to speak for her on this matter.
Yes, you’re her guardian but that’s just because you’re the one who knows her slightly better than the rest of us and because she’s a year away from adulthood.
Do you think she’ll still be under your wings when she comes of age and can make decisions on her own?” He towered over Mark with a threatening glare and added, “Miss Alice is a person of her own, as you know, so stop trying to make decisions for her with your own selfish mindset.” His blue eyes suddenly glowed red as he added with a bit of rage in his eyes.
“She is not yours, so stop trying to make this about you.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Okay, here we have a face off between these two guys Just how will win?
