- Chapter 92 - Chapter 92 I said it's not like that
Chapter 92: I said it’s not like that Chapter 92: I said it’s not like that It was a fancy restaurant.
Alice looked around.
This was her first time in a fancy restaurant and everything looked so classy.
‘So I’m guessing I have to show some sort of manners, right?’ She asked Leo, as she found it unnecessary to ask the two who were sitting in front of her.
*Good you know.
I’m glad I don’t have to teach you that as well.* Leo stated and she rolled her eyeballs.
“I’m not a country bum.
I just do what I want because it’s just me.
But this time…” She glanced at Mark and Devon who had their eyes solely fixed on her.
“…let’s say, I’m being considerate.” *Wow, that’s new.* “Shut up.” “Miss Alice,” Devon called.
“Are you alright?” “Oh, sorry.
Was I talking out loud?” Her eyes glanced away at the people around her.
Luckily, no one was listening or even paying them heed.
Devon smiled.
He didn’t know who she was talking to, but he did notice that she often had a conversation with a nonexistent being.
Like an imaginary friend.
But it felt too real to be an imaginary friend.
Could she see ghosts?
He wondered.
But it was particularly interesting how she was having these normal reactions while speaking to someone who might or might not have been her friend.
Yes, he’d like to put it that way.
The voice she was talking to was probably her friend.
“I don’t mean to be uncivilized, but when is the food coming?” Alice asked.
*Ha, I knew you wouldn’t last long.* Leo taunted her.
“Oh, shut it!” She let out an outburst and Devon blinked.
A really good friend, he would say.
But their relationship was odd.
He wondered who it was even more.
If it was female, male or it could be an animal.
He was just curious.

“Don’t look at her that way, she’s not crazy.” Mark said, and they both turned to look at him.
“No one said she was.” Devon said and Mark eyed him.
“Then don’t look at her like that.
You’ll make her uncomfortable.” Mark pointed out.
He was acting like he knew her better in this aspect, so he was capable of understanding and defending her.
“I look at her because I’m curious about her.
And if you find that to be a problem, I don’t think there’s anything I can do.” Devon shrugged.
“Even Miss Alice doesn’t feel uncomfortable with my gaze, so why does it bother you?” “Because it makes ‘me’ uncomfortable.” He admitted.
“And how does ‘you’ being uncomfortable affect Miss Alice?” Devon probed.
He wasn’t gonna give Mark the chance to step all over him just because he was Alice’s guardian.
He had a motive.
He should just admit it and not act like he was a caring and responsible ‘guardian’.
Mark clicked his tongue and threw his face away, gritting his teeth.
He couldn’t deal with this.
Alice stared at them.
Why did this look like a drama with the theme of forbidden love and jealousy?
She stared more trying to figure them out and her eyes glancing from one to the other.
Then she sighed, placing her hand on her head in exhaustion.
“Jeez, I keep saying you two have some sort of chemistry but you always deny it.” She muttered but they immediately denied it.
“I said it’s not like that!” They both chorused loudly and forcefully too, slamming their hands on the table.
This attracted everyone’s attention to their table and made things a lot more awkward than it could’ve possibly been.
A waiter dropped a glass of milk for Alice, stared at the two gents for a few seconds, and then walked away, blushing to herself.
“Jeez, overreact much.
Now who’s drawing attention?” She said, drawing the milk closer.
“And you didn’t have to deny so strongly if you know it’s not true.
A simple no would do.” She sipped the straw and they sighed.
Devon placed his hand on his head, ashamed that she pushed him to react like that in public.
He wasn’t a character that was easily out of control, so why the outburst?
And Mark was even more dissatisfied, being paired like that.
“Then just don’t bring it up.
It’s not true.
You know it’s not true.” Devon said but she was adamant, rolling her eyes away and sipping her milk as she muttered, “Whatever you say ” It was clear she wasn’t going to believe, not without evidence though.
Who knows?
They might have a secret like that.
Well, she wouldn’t be bringing it up any time soon.
‘I’m afraid they’ll get pissed and actually want to prove something.’ *And what could they possibly do to prove their sexuality?* “Don’t ask me a rhetorical question, Leo.” She said out loud, finally giving Devon, as well as Mark, a clue to whom she had been talking to all along.
His name was Leo.
He was definitely male…
But was he human?
They wondered.
He had to be, right?
For him to exchange words with her so intelligently and even handle her tantrums…
It had to be human.
Then…
It was a guy talking to her all along?
*Hm, I sense hostility directed at me.* ‘Shut up.
You’re being hysterical right now.’ *I’m surprised you know what that means.* ‘I don’t.’ She answered.
‘When you listen to the bullshit of those scrawny henchmen, you’re bound to catch a few of these big words.
And also, I think my intelligence stats help me understand better, even the words I heard in passing and don’t know the meaning of.’ she rubbed the back of her neck and sighed.
*…* That wasn’t how the intelligence stats worked but maybe for her, it was a different case.
Her intelligence stats were higher than any other, so maybe it helped in her assessment of the real world, rather than mana-related resources.
“Miss Alice,” Devon called and she shifted her attention to him.
“About what I came to your house to do,” Mark’s ears perked, and he turned to Devon.
*Oh, that should hold for a few more minutes.
I don’t think I’ll have the energy to react so let’s wait for the food first.” She suggested and though it was not an unexpected response, he just didn’t expect it.
“That won’t be a problem.” And then the food finally arrived.
Alice’s eyes sparkled.
Ah, she thought this fancy restaurant would serve tiny bits of food like they do in commercials and such but the table was full.
There were several dishes, crabs, giant shrimps, sushi, etcetera.
It was basically a seafood Paradise.
She tried not to salivate as the aroma of these delicious delicacies defiled her nose.
She closed her eyes for a moment, sniffed it in, and then let out a satisfied sigh.
Nothing beats free and good food, honestly She looked up at Devon, who was waiting to see her reaction in anticipation, and then at Mark, who didn’t want to look impressed or show any reaction to Devon’s menu choice.
“So, Miss Alice, I hope this is to your taste.
How do you like it?” He asked and she looked up at him, picking up the fork and knife placed next to her and she grinned, “I think I’m ready to talk.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah Hmmm, I don’t even know what to say anymore.
