- Chapter 97 - Chapter 97 You're so unhinged
Chapter 97: You’re so unhinged Chapter 97: You’re so unhinged *Alice, are you really doing this?* Leo asked as Alice sat on the roof.
“Hey, I’m not running yet.
I’ll just make sure it’s not a red gate and then vamoose.” She said and then lowered her head sadly.
Why was she suddenly feeling…
Guilt?
*Even if it doesn’t look like a red gate, considering the change of events, you’ll never know what could come out of a gate.* He said to her.
“Like demons?” She asked, glancing down at the busy people who were going about their normal evening activities.
“You can see the future.
Can’t you just tell me what happens after now?” *Sigh* Leo sighed.
How could she be so clueless?
*Alice, we, no, I came from the future.
The future where so many things went wrong.
And because of that, I know what happened in the past.
I admit that I do have the ability to foretell what may happen after everything has changed but that’s not possible while I’m connected to you.* “Because I’m not strong enough, got it.” She lifted one of her legs and rested her chin on her knee.
*Yes.
And because things have changed from the way they occurred before, my knowledge of the future is no longer accurate.* He said.
*During this time, in your past life, monsters were roaming the world, devouring and causing chaos.
But now, it’s different.
Just look around.
You made it happen.* “Don’t try to flatter me.
I know you just want me to get into action.
But let me tell you.
That’s not happening.” She made up her mind and stood firm in her decision.
“I’ll just sit here and watch everything happen.
If they can’t handle it, I’ll step in.
But I doubt that’s gonna happen.” Okay, she did change her mind a bit but she didn’t believe there would be any cause to step in.
Devon was a freaking S-class awakened.
He wasn’t weak so he could definitely handle it, even if it were an S-class monster that walked out of the gate.
“You said it yourself, Leo.” She said, softly.
“To get stronger, I need to fight monsters and humans that are strong.

What would it profit me to fight against weak ass monsters?” *…* “I’m just gonna sit here, okay?
Let’s not create regrets by running away.” She said and yawned.
“It’s almost my nap time so I hope they make this quick.” *You’re so unhinged.* He said and she took that as a compliment, smirking and saying, “Thanks.” Then, the ground suddenly started rumbling.
She used her third eye to see through the building’s walls to spy on the restaurant and make sure Devon had not suddenly teleported away from there.
Luckily, he was still there.
“Sir,” the intimidating lady from earlier bowed her head in front of Devon and reported.
“I believe a gate is about to spawn.” “Yes,” Devon said nodding his head as this situation was familiar to him too.
“Start by evacuating the area.
Secure the safety of the civilians.” “Yes Sir.” They spread out immediately and Devon looked at Mark.
They both seemed to be having the same thoughts but it was completely different from the situation.
‘Miss Alice probably already felt it and that’s why she rushed away.
She went to take care of the gate.’ Those were their thoughts.
But that said, Alice was on the roof, watching the entire thing unfold and sighing in relief.
“See, Devon is such a reliable guy.
He knew what to do right away.” She started swinging her legs, resting back with her arms supporting her weight.
And then, she saw the gate spawning just in front of the restaurant, in the middle of the road.
It had a weak energy and as she watched it, she felt it was quite beautiful.
It started as a crack in the thin air and startled peeling off, radiating blue light till the round ring that looked like it was made out of fog took its full form.
It was a blue gate.
These beautiful gates bred the terror of humanity.
“Ah, see.
There’s nothing to worry about.” She said and got up.
“I’m a hundred percent sure they can handle it without worrying about any casualties.” She sounded confident.
So confident that she could just turn around and leave right there and then.
But just in case, she was gonna stick around for a few more minutes.
She watched Devon walk out of the restaurant with Mark.
He turned to Mark and asked, “Do you want me to teleport you away?
I know you don’t engage in battles.” He said, but Mark frowned, closing his eyes as he said calmly.
“I’m going to find Alice.” “She can handle herself.” Devon pointed out like Mark didn’t already know that.
“And so can I.” Mark said, opening his eyes to reveal his fierce gaze and they both exchanged glares.
“What are those two doing, glaring at each other like that?
The enemy is right in front of them.” Alice pointed out, oblivious and Leo shook his non-existent head.
But then, the ground shook again.
They looked towards the gate.
It looked like it was going to start releasing its monsters since it was releasing vast energy, but stayed at the level of a blue gate.
A gate break was about to ensue, no doubt.
He took out his phone and called, “All personnel, return to position.
It’s a gate break.” Devon could handle any monster that walked, crawled, or flew out of that gate, but he was never the type to underestimate a gate.
No matter how weak it looked, he made sure to take extra precautions and not be reckless or careless.
The lives of people were on the line so he took it seriously.
Alice watched and sighed, stretching her arms.
“I guess that will take care of itself.” She said but then came another rumble.
The tremor in the Earth was far greater than before.
“Someone tell me it’s all in my head and that nothing’s going to go awfully wrong.” She gulped.
*Alice,* Leo called.
“Yes?” She answered.
“It’s all in my head, right?” *There…
there’s another one.* He pointed out.
*There’s another gate and it’s spawning behind you.* Her eyes widened.
At the same time, she started feeling the heavy and dense energy leaking from behind.
She turned and her eyes widened even more as she saw a crack a few feet away from her.
The crack broke the original space, peeling off and revealing the thick redness of the spawning gate.
Alice’s mouth fell in disbelief.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” She exclaimed and palmed her face.
“How in the world is this logical?
I mean, there’s a freaking gate down there.” She pointed down.
“Where did this one come from?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Author_fredah You can run, but u cant hide Have some idea about my story?
