The Female Leads Truly Loves You - Chapter 430
Chapter 430: A key
Sam’s sudden move drew everyone’s attention to his face.
Sam knew this wasn’t the best solution, but it was the only one he had at the moment.
On such a special day, he didn’t want anyone to get hurt tonight, even though it seemed inevitable. So he had to resort to this.
He also knew Sophie would understand his intention and that his acting wasn’t particularly convincing.
But he was the only one who could do this now, and he had no reason to stay out of it.
As he picked up the jade pendant, Sophie’s brow furrowed slightly.
“You don’t have to do this. If she doesn’t want it, she can give it back to me.”
“Sam.”
Angel spoke up, looking at him.
Sam paused and looked at her.
Then she extended her hand, “This is my gift. Why are you taking it?”
Sam was a bit worried she might take the pendant and break it in front of everyone.
She didn’t seem to care about social niceties or giving face to anyone.
And she was capable of such actions. She didn’t have much goodwill towards Sophie, almost becoming her nemesis at one point. What good could she do?
“I thought you didn’t want it.”
Sam handed the pendant to her, pretending to be casual.
Angel smiled slightly, looking at the pendant in her hand.
“Although it seems quite ordinary, there’s a saying, ‘I give you all I have.’ I didn’t expect Sophie to be so devoted to me.”
“Eh…”
Isabella was also surprised, not expecting Angel to say that.
It sounded a bit sarcastic, but coming from Angel, it was quite mild.
Sophie squinted at Angel, seemingly confused.
“Are you pretending to be generous and pitying me?”
Angel smiled, holding the pendant.
“Why think that? I didn’t say I pity you. And weren’t you confident in your gift? Although it doesn’t seem very valuable.”
“If you don’t like it, you can give it back.”
“I’ve decided to keep it.”
Isabella thought for a moment and interjected.
“Angel, the rule is to genuinely accept the gift for it to count. If it’s forced, it doesn’t mean anything.”
Angel put the pendant in her bag and looked at the two of them.

“Let me be clear. I’m keeping this gift because I think taking your only luck feels quite nice.”
Luck is an intangible thing.
It’s not something you can lend or borrow.
But to Sophie, it seemed real. Isabella understood this.
To her, this was a good outcome. Whether Angel didn’t want to embarrass Sophie or genuinely wanted her luck, it avoided ending the gathering prematurely.
So she nodded.
“Alright, in that case, Sophie, you should have one last gift, right?”
Sophie looked at Sam. What would she give him?
Sam was curious, and so was Angel, even more so than about her own gift.
This time, Sophie quickly took it out. She glanced at Sam, as if afraid of revealing something.
Then she pulled out a small box.
Isabella smiled, “Look, we didn’t have gift boxes, but Sam gets special treatment.”
Angel squinted, clearly mocking.
“You really have a special place for someone else’s boyfriend.”
Sophie didn’t explain. She just gently handed the box to Sam.
“For you.”
Even her voice was softer, and her words were noticeably shorter, as if avoiding something, making it seem deliberate.
Sam took the box and looked at it.
Angel laughed.
“Aren’t you going to open it?”
Sam didn’t want to reveal Sophie’s gift in front of everyone, but if he hesitated, it would seem too strange and ruin things.
So he looked at Sophie.
“Is it okay?”
Sophie avoided his gaze, naturally picking up her drink, as if she had finished everything and casually took a sip, her blush still present. She nodded lightly.
“Do as you like.”
So Sam opened the small box.
Inside was a cherry blossom petal.
“Is this a cherry blossom petal?”
“It doesn’t seem like it.”
As Sam picked up the petal, he felt a strange texture, not from the petal but from underneath.
The cushion under the petal felt different.
But he didn’t show it, instead picking up the petal.
It was made of delicate pink and white silk threads, a handmade craft, requiring meticulous work.
Angel noticed too, looking at Sophie, who seemed indifferent.
“Didn’t expect you to have such delicate skills.”
Isabella looked curiously.
“What does this petal mean?”
Sophie looked at the swirling drink and ice cubes, speaking softly.
“My mother told me that the first cherry blossom petal picked in early spring brings happiness. Since there are no cherry blossoms this season, I made one that won’t wither. That’s all.”
Just wishing him happiness.
Angel didn’t take it seriously. To her, it was just a sentimental gesture from an artistic girl. Such a small craft couldn’t move anyone.
Too naive.
Sam smiled at Sophie.
“I really like this gift. I’ll accept it gratefully.”
Sophie nodded lightly, sneaking a glance at him, wondering if Sam had noticed her little secret.
If not… then he was just being dense.
Isabella smiled at everyone.
“Alright, last but not least, Sam, it’s your turn.”
Sam didn’t start immediately. He stood up slightly.
“Before I start, I need to use the restroom. Just a moment.”
“Hurry up!”
Isabella seemed impatient.
Angel noticed something, watching him stand.
“Taking her gift to the restroom? You must really like it.”
Sam seemed unaware, looking at the box in his hand. Instead of putting it in his bag, he slipped it into his pocket, smiling.
“It’s handy. I’ll be right back.”
With that, Sam headed to the restroom.
Once there, he didn’t immediately relieve himself but took out the small box.
He squinted, lifting the small cushion at the bottom.
Underneath was a key, quietly lying there.
“A key?”
Sam was puzzled, then his phone rang.
Wondering why there was a key hidden there, he took out his phone.
It was a message from Sophie.
[That’s the key to my house. You don’t need to ring the doorbell anymore. This is my real gift to you. I hope you like it.]
Sam stared at the message, holding the key, a smile spreading across his face.
What to say?
You’re either a fool or incredibly good at tempting men.
A girl giving a boy a key.
Especially a girl like Sophie, who always seemed annoyed when he rang her doorbell.
But this key seemed to change everything.
Sam’s efforts had paid off. Not only had she accepted everything, but she had also taken a step towards him.
A crucial step.
A key could open a door.
And she was letting him open more than just her door.
Sam added the key to his keychain, making it a part of him, then returned to his seat.
“Sam, why did you take so long in the restroom? Are you feeling unwell?”
Isabella teased.
Sam smiled.
“I’m perfectly fine. Angel can vouch for that.”
As he sat down, he glanced at Sophie, catching her looking at him.
Their eyes met, and they both quickly looked away.
Sam cleared his throat, picking up his canvas bag.
“Alright, my turn. First, Senior’s gift.”
Isabella blinked.
“I’m curious, why do you all start with me? Am I that special, or am I just the warm-up act?”
Sam laughed.
“You’re highly respected.”
“I’m only a year older than you!”
“Alright, alright, here you go.”
Sam pulled out something that made all three girls widen their eyes.
A moment of shock.
Then…
“Pfft!”
“Hahaha…”
Sophie and Angel couldn’t help but laugh.
Isabella’s eyes widened, her face turning slightly red.
Because Sam was holding a black… wig.
“Sam, are you mocking me for being bald? Giving me a wig?”
Sam shook his head, pretending to be profound.
“NONONO. This isn’t an ordinary wig.”
“Is it a special wig?”
Isabella said, annoyed.
Sam nodded.
“Yes, it’s special. It can change to any color and style you want. I call it the universal wig.”
“Are you kidding me?”
Isabella, her face red, couldn’t help but curse.
