The Golem Mage - Chapter 500

Chapter 500: Goodies (2).
Selene had initially thought that refining Tier 3 Cultivation Pills was a waste due to the vast amount of resources consumed in the process.
She believed it was unnecessary and preferred refining only Mid Tier Power stones into cultivation pills when one entered the mid ranks , as the impurities from the lower ranks could still be cleansed then, and it would save a fortune compared to wasting the low-rank materials for low rank mages that could still breakthrough with power stones raw energy.
However, when she overheard Alec’s conversation with Brandon, she understood the rationale behind his decision to distribute the pills.
By providing Brandon with the pills, Alec was ensuring that if Brandon broke through to Tier 4, he wouldn’t need to endure a lengthy period of realm consolidation, as the cultivation pills facilitated a smooth transition into the next realm, meaning Alec had effectively and indirectly nurtured another Tier 4 Mage for the War God Mage Academy team, one who wouldn’t need to undergo the usual consolidation process.
With this realization, Selene found no reason to be upset with Alec waste of resources, after all, the academy was supposed to supply its students participating in the competition with pills, spirit equipment, and other cultivation resources.
However, the War God Mage Academy had always lacked sponsors and wealth; almost everything the students had achieved was through their own hard work and effort.
Selene was acutely aware that other academies must have provided their teams with ample resources to enhance their chances of winning in the competition, it had always been a source of embarrassment for her, as she was unable to support the team, nor was the academy in a financial position to do so.
But now, witnessing Alec, whom she had chosen as the academy’s captain, taking steps to increase the team’s chances, her face finally broke into a smile after a long time, as she felt she had made the right choice.
“Here, these are for you guys too!” Alec announced as he summoned five small pill bottles, each containing ten Tier 3 Cultivation Pills.
He tossed them towards Katie, Arthur, Sophia, Knight, and Agnes, showing his commitment to bolstering the entire team’s strength.
The moment they caught the bottles, five Tier 4 pills followed and were flying towards them almost instantly.
Pale watched in disbelief as Alec distributed the Tier 4 pills like they were mere trinkets to the Tier 3 Mages of the group, which nearly drove him to frustration.
“While I have a lot of confidence that Brandon can easily step into the next rank, I feel your cases might take a little more time, but who am I to underestimate you all?
I don’t expect you to enter the Tier 4 realm by tomorrow; just make sure you can digest the pills and reach the peak of the Tier 3 Mage Realm,” Alec said as he turned towards Endrick.
He then paused, twisting his neck to look back at the group before adding to his words.
“But if any of you are still unsatisfied with just being at Tier 3 at the end of your cultivation phase and you feel your body can handle the energy of a Tier 4 pill to break through, go for it, don’t worry about the expenses; I own the pills, and I won’t see it as a waste if any of you manage to step into the Tier 4 realm by tomorrow, it would only strengthen our team more,” Alec said with a smile, leaving them in shock.
The items Alec was offering were incredibly valuable, yet he treated them with such nonchalance, as if they didn’t matter much.
They knew that no one in their right mind would typically use a Tier 4 pill while still in the Tier 3 Realm unless they were in a rush t breakthrough.
The reason they would normally hesitate is that no matter how robust their bodies might be, they were still low-rank mages, such excess energy might propel them into the next realm if they were fortunate, but it also meant losing more than half of the pill’s efficiency.
Most people would prefer to wait until they entered the Tier 4 realm to use such a pill consuming all it’s energy, rather than consume it in the Tier 3 Realm and forfeit most of its potency, especially given the rarity and value of these pills.
But Alec’s words suggested that he wasn’t concerned about potential wastage; his priority was to expedite their advancement to the mid ranks.
Even Selene couldn’t fathom why Alec was being so generous with his team members.
While the pills might not propel him to the peak of the Tier 4 Mage realm, Selene knew no rational Mage in the middle rank who would so readily distribute the cultivation resources they could hoard for personal use to others.
It didn’t make sense to her, but as everyone looked on in surprise, Alec tossed a Tier 4 pill towards Endrick.
“While Pale may have overlooked you due to his greed, I have not forgotten that we still have a Tier 4 Mage on the team, I promised to support you as well when you became my clansman, so consider this a small gift,” Alec said before flinging the remaining pills towards Pale, Lucas, and Beatrice.
“I hope by tomorrow you all will have grown much stronger,” Alec said with a smile as he ascended the stairs with his hands tucked in his pockets, heading to a room he plan to select first, while the team was still processing the unexpected generosity, Alec was eager to delve into the new spell scrolls that the Dean and his master had given him before the dark, as he still had to enter the Amulet world.
His master had provided him with Mid Rank earth element scrolls that he had personally modified from his own cultivation of spells, meaning the scrolls Alec now held were enhanced versions of the original spells.
Meanwhile, the Dean had given him Mid rank flame element scrolls.

The Dean didn’t want Alec to embarrass the academy in the competition, having noticed that Alec lacked mid-rank spells during his battle with Orion he felt need to do something.
Although the flame wings Alec had comprehended in battle and the flame aura were mid-tier, but they were not combat spells despite Alec using them as one, therefore, the Dean had decided to be a bit more generous, as he didn’t want the academy’s captain to be the subject of ridicule.
Though the academy might be short on resources, but it was not lacking in spells.
Over the years, several esteemed seniors had created unique spells, the manuals of which were preserved within the school’s library.

After Alec retreated to his room to study the Mid Rank spells, his teammates snapped out of their stupor and hurried to secure their own rooms too cultivate.
Meanwhile, Selene exited the inn, her mind swirling with questions:
“How did Alec come by such precious pills?
Where did he encounter an alchemist?”
These questions troubled her, especially since the academy itself lacked an alchemist.
The possibility that Alec had refined the pills on his own was something she couldn’t consider because that would imply Alec was an alchemist, she quickly dismissed the thought immediately; as Alec had not trained in the art, and becoming proficient enough to produce multiple Tier 4 and Tier 3 Cultivation Pills would take years, making him too young for such feats, therefore, he wasn’t on her radar for suspicion.
She speculated that he might have found them on the bodies of mages he killed during his missions or had a stroke of luck.
Regardless of how he came by them, Selene was grateful for Alec’s selflessness, even though she admitted to herself that she might not have done the same in his position.
With a smile, Selene went to register the academy for the upcoming competition.
She now felt a glimmer of hope that they might not be defeated as swiftly as she had initially feared, after reading about the other academies team, she had braced for a quick loss, which is why she had put the team through rigorous training , and they had emerged transformed from the ordeal.
All she could do now was wait for the next day and hope for their smooth breakthrough increasing their chances.
