The Golem Mage - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Another Deal Chapter 52: Another Deal Clarisa€™s anger flared when she noticed Alec ignoring her, but she was powerless to confront him, knowing full well that she they were not in a place where it was proper to fight in between themselves at the moment.
Among the few who doubted Alec, Larisa strongly believed Alec€™s strength was overstated, suspecting he merely coasted on the coattails of his formidable clansmen.
After all, he was the heir to the current patriarch and he had the power to do so, and many had not really witnessed him in combat so his battle powers was practically unknown.
The Lantz family€™s claim had been that he was a golem mage, and this had led many to underestimate him, assuming he relied on the likes of Brandon and Arthur to bolster his reputation.
Otherwise, they felt why would he have to feign sleep at the banquet where they were supposed to fight, only to later hear of his might in rumours?, his actions had convinced them that he fell short of the prowess rumoured about him.
Meanwhile, Alec remained oblivious to Clarisa€™s thoughts and even if he knew he would be indifferent to her opinions of him.
Steven, on the other hand, was scratching his head, at a loss for how to defuse the mounting tension.
His life as a city guard involved battling Blood Moon races from the second Dimension, safeguarding the city from internal chaos and external invaders, and acquiring cultivation resources to advance in rank-all while obeying orders from his superiors.
His world was straightforward, with little room for intrigue or complications.
Caught between the indifferent Alec and the biting sarcasm of Clarisa, Steven was clueless about resolving the conflict.
Inwardly, he sent up a silent prayer, hoping for some mysterious force to shatter the strained silence.
As if in answer to his plea, the Lantz family mages arrived, matching the number sent by the Gordons clan, as though it had all been orchestrated.
The Tier 1 mages from the Lanzt family quickly took their places beside the Gordons family, while their patriarch flew to joined the Mid Tier mages in the sky.
It was evident that the Tier 1 mages from the Lanzt family they had been informed of the alliance between the two families.
And for once, even those who typically acted like arrogant upstarts showed a change in demeanor, appearing quite serious and focused on the task at hand.
They gazed at the Gordons clan with admiration, many of them had witnessed Brandon Gordons€™ fight at the Banquet and knew of his incredible skill as a martial mage.
The fact that there leader Bryan had claimed he was not even considered the strongest of the younger generation in his clan only fueled their curiosity about a clan that could effortlessly produce such exceptional individuals.
This admiration extended to the members of the Gordons clan€™s squad as well.
As they understood that they were there to fight under the banner of the Gordons clan, as instructed by their leader.
So the respect for the Gordons clan was ingrained in their mind set.
As Clarisa and Alec turned to observed the new mage family joining their ranks, Steven was pleased that something else had caught their attention.
On the other hand, Maria Darkbliss seemed disinterested in the events unfolding around her.
On horseback, Bryan and Sheila Lanzt joined Alec, Clarisa, Maria, and Steven at the front.
They greeted everyone, leaving Alec as the last person to be addressed.
€œIt€™s good to fight alongside you once again,€ Bryan remarked with a slight smirk.
He cupped his hands in the old Chinese way, performing a small bow to show his respect towards Alec.
€œOh, come on, this is an agreement between our families, there€™s no need to act like that,€ Alec responded nonchalantly, trying to maintain a casual demeanor.
€œHumph, what a braggart!€ Clarisa snorted, as she and her sister returned to where the mages from their clan stood, ready for battle.
€œA feisty lady indeed,€ Alec replied, clicking his tongue as he felt relieved that Clarisa had decided to leave on her own accord.
€œNow, I shall take my leave, brother, see you on the battlefield,€ Steven declared, as he rode back to where his city guards were stationed.

Alec glanced at Bryan, surprised to see him still standing close by.
€œWhat do you want?€ Alec asked, aware that Bryan was always a wise individual who wouldn€™t act without a plan in mind.
€œ30%,€ Bryan stated.
€œ30%?
30% of what?€ Alec responded, his confusion evident on his face.
€œForget everything you agreed upon with our patriarch, I will personally ensure that you receive 30% of everything we earn in this Blood Moon, as long as you command the Bryan family as you see fit.€
€œ I know you don€™t particularly like us, but I genuinely believe that with your leadership, we can navigate this Blood Moon with fewer casualties,€ Bryan proposed.
€œFirstly, I am not a commander,€ Alec replied, shaking his head.
€œSecondly, what assurance do I have that your clan will actually follow my orders?€
€œAnd thirdly, why should I settle for only 30% now when I might be able to secure that same amount or more if you guys make a mistake?€ Alec questioned.
€œFirstly, I€™m certain you are an exceptional commander, you just haven€™t realized it yet, it€™s not an easy task to split your command between different golems and have them carry out your bidding.€
€œ Maybe two golems would be manageable, but eight?
That€™s a significant amount of stress,€ Bryan explained, stating his first reason.
€œSecondly, the patriarch has made it clear that anyone who disobeys orders will be banished from the clan, so if I declare you as the new commander, they will not dare to defy your authority, as we, the Lanzt, are too prideful, and banishment is something we never want to experience,€ Bryan explained his second reason.
€œAnd finally, for the third point, I can assure you that if you disagree with our decision and we realize that we are still losing ground without a strong protector, we will retreat.€
€œ Our patriarch will remove us from the battlefield, wind mages may be not naturally be the strongest , but we excel at strategic retreats.
You can count on that,€ Bryan stated confidently.
Alec sighed in defeat, hating that he had to deal with Bryan.
Even though he had an agreement with the Lanzt patriarch, it was clear that Bryan had different intentions and might even use the Gordons family as a shield to escape If things didn€™t go his way.
And that was something Alec wanted to avoid, cause every time Alec looked at the Tier 1 mages with him, all he saw were inexperienced newcomers.
And he wasn€™t ready to expose them to the risks of an ally betraying them at a critical junction.
Moreover, his golems were naturally intelligent, rendering constant mental energy unnecessary.
Alec only needed to give them a single command, and they would execute it to the best of their abilities.
This truth astonished even Alec, but he intended to keep it as his secret.
There was no way he would let Bryan know, although he gladly accepted the indirect compliments.
€œSo, do we have a deal?€ Bryan asked, extending his hands forward.
Sheila was surprised by the direction the conversation had taken, as she hadn€™t anticipated this outcome.
Though apprehensive, she suspected that Alec might become angry and assign them as vanguards due to Bryan€™s attitude, and the deal.
However, Bryan had a different perspective, he had intentionally made mention of their skill in retreating indirectly indicated their ability to adapt when things didn€™t go as planned.
Bryan believed that Alec, would not be blinded by pride, and would make the most of his clansmen abilities.
After all, Alec had previously demonstrated resourcefulness against the zombies at the south gate.
Bryan realized at that moment that he wanted to be under the leadership of someone like Alec €“ flawlessly commanding, even if not perfect.
€œDo we have a deal?€ Bryan inquired again, attempting to snap Alec out of his dazed expression.
€œWhat can I say?
It€™s a deal, i just hope this will be the last time I have to deal with you or your family, i never want to see you two-faced snakes ever again,€ Alec retorted in anger, feeling his stress levels rise.
After shaking hands with Bryan, he made his way back to his squad.
€œOh, I know we will have plenty more deals,€ Bryan whispered, although his sister overheard him.
They both returned to where the rest of the Tier 1 mages from the Lanzt family awaited, prepared for the trials ahead.
Just as Alec returned to his position, a bright red moon ascended into the sky.
A wave of tension gripped everyone, for they could feel the brutal and fierce aura emanating from the moon€™s arrival.
The moon appeared abruptly, almost as if it had teleported to where the sun had been moments before.
Alec was taken aback by this sudden shift, but he remained prepared for whatever was about to unfold.
A significant spatial tear formed at a considerable distance from the city gate.
It opened slightly, resembling the eye of a slumbering, enigmatic being.
All were on edge, awaiting the arrival of the new enemies.
€œBoss, did you hear?
Reports say that the energy readings from the gate were exceptionally high, with an abundance of low-tier creatures, the Tier 1 creatures alone may exceed ten thousand.€
€œ Additionally, apart from the city guards, who dispatched five thousand soldiers in the Tier 1 realm-€
€œWe only sent two hundred and fifty Tier 1 mages, along with the Lanzt family€™s two hundred and fifty mages, and the Darkbliss family sent one thousand Tier 1 mages.€
€œ This means we have around six thousand and five hundred Tier 1 mages to confront a minimum of ten thousand creatures from the second dimension.
Isn€™t that overkill?€ Arthur interrupted.
€œIsn€™t it just exciting?€ Alec smirked shocking Arthur with his response, although his gaze was fixed not on Arthur but on the notification displayed on his system screen.
