The Golem Mage - Chapter 620
Chapter 620: Preparation 2 Chapter 620: Preparation 2 Just when the team thought they had seen it all, Alec revealed bundles of Tier 4 random spell cards he had been saving.
He didn€™t have much use for them, considering he was far more powerful than a Tier 4 Mage, thought the powers of the spell card can reach Tier 5 battle powers due to the beast coming from the beast forest but Alec still didn’t really care about them as he had other ways to deal with his opponents.
However, the same couldn€™t be said for the rest of his team; most of them were still weak and in the early stages of their development.
And Alec believed that if they had the chance to cast an extra spell for less mana, they wouldn€™t hesitate to take it.
With the thought that these spells were significantly stronger than those of a Tier 4 mage brought a sly smile to Alec€™s face, and he couldn€™t wait to see the surprise on the faces of their next opponents, when they face such unexpected attacks.
Normally, he was hesitant to bring out the random spell cards, but they resembled talismans to anyone else except from him, so he was not bothered about anyone finding out the true form.
He was just hesitant because he had already given the team the assumption that he was an alchemist, though he didn’t tell them so, but that is what they believed
And he didn€™t want to add “talisman master” to the list of suspicions surrounding him.
But in order to defeat Onyx Academy, Alec knew he had to bring out the big guns and go all out, so he could no longer afford to hide anything now that the finals were approaching.
With that in mind, Alec began distributing at least five cards into the hands of each team member present.
This meant he was parting with fifty Tier 4 random spell cards, each crafted from different species of demonic beasts that he had slain from the Beast Forest.
The entire team looked perplexed as they watched Alec place these mid-grade talismans into their hands.
They were completely at a loss, even mages like Lucas, Beatrice, and Pale, who proudly hailed from ancient clans, had never witnessed their clans distribute talismans of such an amount to anyone in their younger generation.
Such gifts were typically reserved for the ones they deemed the most promising, and those that are chosen as worthy of inheriting the clan responsibilities in the future.
Because the talismans didn’t only serve as an offensive tool but also as a defensive mechanisms, designed to save the lives of their chosen ones in situations they couldn’t handle, or when they are in danger such as assassination and other type of dangerous situations.
Typically, protective talismans would act upon activation, or if imbued within the wearer, they would activate to shield the clan’s selected genius.
While Ancient clans mostly distributed high-grade talismans, it still didn’t change the fact that they often deemed it unnecessary to provide even the lower-grade ones to the rest of their young generations, viewing them as a waste of their resources.
Even though the talismans Alec handed to them were mid-grade 1, which rank lower than what the ancient clans provided for their top talents-they felt no disappointment at all.
As Alec was making significant sacrifices for them, and this small gesture demonstrated how much he genuinely cared.
That realization meant everything to them in that moment.
Alec then brought out another batch of talisman after he was done with the Tier 4 own, this time the talisman was not as much as the previous one, and he began distributing the Tier 5 random spell cards to his teammates.
He ensured that each member received two cards, except for Lucas and Beatrice, to whom he gave five, believing they needed them more than anyone else on the team and he was also relying on them to do the heavy hitting, when he would be busy taking care of the captain of the other team.
In total, he distributed 26 Tier 5 random spell cards.
Although he still had more, but he saw no reason to give away more than necessary.
In fact the main reason he was cool with sharing these items came from hearing about a member of the Battle Mage Academy using rune stones in battle, which was deemed acceptable.
Alec concluded that talismans should be embraced as well after all it fell in the same category with the Rune stone and pills.;
He just felt their rarity and the cost of production were the only reasons they haven’t been used yet.
So he didn€™t mind sharing them with his teammates, even if it could be perceived as flaunting wealth by the other academies, he would let his broke Dean deal and take care of the matter.
.
Considering that everyone viewed the War God Academy team as broke, due to their poor equipment and defensive uniforms, Alec hoped to change some fans’ perceptions with this move.
While he was busy making plans and preparing his team with instructions on how to activate the talismans and use them to their advantage, Selene rested by the training room door, silently observing the team as she fell into deep thought.

Just how many secrets does Alec Gordon have?
If he ever becomes capable of creating Tier 6 pills, I might even have to beg him for some.
Well, one step at a time-let me see how far you can go in the tournament!€™
With that, Selene walked away, deciding not to intervene and disturb them.
She had been summoned by the dean, along with the other two instructors, and she had been expecting a discussion on how to help the team improve their chances of winning or perhaps purchasing better equipment.
Instead, they gathered for what felt more like a celebration, as the dean was reveling in the joy of winning a bet and had called them together.
Offended by their laid-back attitude and their apparent faith that the team would lose the next match, Selene decided to excuse herself.
She couldn€™t sit with a group of people who disparaged her team€™s accomplishments simply because they thought they had reached their peak.
Selene had aspirations to lead the team to the finals, or even win the tournament; in fact, she had once considered it impossible.
But Alec had proven her wrong time and again, and she decided to place her faith in him and help him achieve his and the team goals, which was the Dean’s duty on the first place.
The dean, on the other hand, seemed content with merely having the team rank in the top Four academy, believing it would restore some prestige to the academy, give them better fun from the Royal treasury this time and elevate his own name as the one in power during this pivotal moment.
€œWant to go out for a little betting?€ Selene heard a familiar voice call out to her as she walked down the hall outside the designated area for the War God Academy.
She turned back to see her sister, Selena, hiding in the shadows with her back against the wall.
€œThe stakes better be worth my time,€ Selene replied with a small smile as she began to walk away with her sister

The team spent the whole day cultivating after Alec distributed the pills, and now night had fallen.
Most members were shadowboxing, testing their spells, or engaging in light sparring to vent any residual medicinal properties that hadn€™t been fully digested.
This practice helped create space within their bodies, allowing for the complete absorption of what remained of the medicine.
€œArthur, Brandon, Knight, Agnes, come with me!€ Alec called out to his clansmen as he stepped out of the training room, with his clansmen following closely behind him.
