The Golem Mage - Chapter 652
Chapter 652: Two Sides Of A Coin.
Chapter 652: Two Sides Of A Coin.
In a lavishly decorated room, the City Lord of Estonia sat in his chair, accompanied by three Mage formerly known as the three City Guardians of Estonia, they stood silently, awaiting his words.
Among them was his own child, now poised for promotion to City Commander, having ascended to the rank of a High Rank Mage.
The resources the City Lord had secured from giving the patriarch of the Fridall clan to the Ancient Blaze Clan instead of the Royal Palace had not only helped promote the realm of the mages in the newly forged alliances against the Gordons clan but also elevated his son to the high ranks.
Despite his efforts to support the other two City Guardians, only one had reached the high rank realm and was also due for promotion to City Commander.
This mage, named Marcus, was often referred to as Sir Marcus and had consistently followed Alistair, the City Lord’s son.
Fortunately for both, they had attained high rank status, the third guardian, Rio, a stout man who wielded great axes, had not received enough resources to advance.
Although disappointed, he remained a loyal soldier to the City Lord, due to the fact that he had come from the same Dragonmir side branch family.
“The next Blood Moon approaches, and I still don’t know how we will manage it to curb the damages with the space gate growing stronger.€
€œ I guess this is the consequence of allowing various mages to rise to the high rank realm, generating enough energy to further enhance the space gate,” the City Lord remarked.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if multiple Tier 7 goblins breach the gate this time,” he continued, sighing in resignation at the uncertainty of how to handle the impending threat, as the gate’s full potential had yet to be realized as the blood moon day had not even reached yet.
€œWe can have the Gordon clan join us for the next defense.
After all, it€™s officially known that they have three High-Rank realm mages; they would be a significant help, especially since they managed to defeat the High rank mages you sent to attack them,€ Alistair suggested, causing the City Lord to shake his head.
He rose from his chair and walked to the window, hands clasped behind his back as he gazed out at the peaceful city he governed.
€œIf you truly believe they only have three High-Rank mages in that clan, you’re more naive than I thought,€ he said with a wry smile.
€œI was there, remember?
Though I was in a rush that day, but I counted four of them, three at the High Rank and a chubby one I had never seen before, who commanded Tier 7 golems, and the Grand Elder was not even there.€
€œThe battle power of that clan alone rivals that of three or four top clans in this city combined.
It€™s clear he knows now that the Patriarch of the Raisa Clan was the one he killed.€
€œI€™m surprised he hasn€™t moved to eliminate that clan entirely, especially considering how rashly he handled the situation with the Fridall clan, now he hasn’t taken the bait, leaving me with nothing to use against him or to compel him to defend the city when the blood moon battle begins.€
€œAnd now we have another problem, he must suspect everyone in the city since the Raisa Clan patriarch was the one he caught, he would be expecting the rest of the perpetrators to be hiding here in the city.€
€œThat raises our dilemma: how do we find other mages to fill in with the nine who entered the Tier 7 Mage realm on that day, complicating his ability to trace the real culprits?€ the City Lord concluded.
€œIt won€™t be easy, but I€™ve spoken to a few clans that merged with us recently, specifically asking them to have their High-Rank mages in seclusion come out for the next Blood Moon, the Gordons patriarch would definitely not know all of them.€
€œThough it looks like they€™re all considering it, but they won€™t have much choice but to accept our request, as I made sure to make them believe they are responsible for our predicament.€
€œMeanwhile, the Dark Bliss Patriarch has agreed to take action on that day, along with the other nine joining us, we should be able to gather about twenty High-Rank mages.€
€œ This will put pressure on the Gordon Patriarch, making it difficult for him to act recklessly, as he won€™t be able to pinpoint the nine mages who are truly responsible for the attack on his clan,€ Sir Marcus explained the plan to the City Lord.
€œClever move, Marcus, however, to be on the safe side, we won€™t be asking for the Gordons clan help with the defense this month; after all, they€™re still exempt for two months.
We€™ll reach out to them next month,€ the City Lord replied.
€œWe don€™t want him to suspect anything, and I know for a fact we€™ll be under pressure by then, let€™s just hope they don€™t conceal their powers like they usually do and actually assist us.€
€“
While the City Lord was racking his brain to figure out why the Gordon Patriarch hadn€™t acted rashly and attacked the Raisa Clan, hoping to pin a crime on him and incite the Gordon Clan to fight in the upcoming Blood Moon, George was boiling with anger.
Nothing would satisfy him more than to destroy the Raisa Clan.
Time and again, they had provoked his clan, and each time he had merely issued a warning, hoping they would understand that the Gordons Clan is a peace-loving clan but wasn€™t afraid of a fight.
Yet, time and again, the Raisa Clan grew arrogant due to his leniency, and now their patriarch had led an attack on his clan€™s grounds.
Though George knew deep down that someone was definitely pulling the strings behind this attack.
And he had a suspect in mind, but he couldn€™t just attack without concrete proof; otherwise, his reasons would lack justification and this could be used against him to rally the other neutral clans to fight against the Gordon Clan.
The scheming and planning were driving him to the brink of madness, yet whenever he entertained thoughts of eradicating the Raisa Clan from existence, he recalled the Grand Elder€™s warning that it was not yet their time to initiate an attack.
