The Golem Mage - Chapter 685
Chapter 685: The Wait Is Almost Over.
Chapter 685: The Wait Is Almost Over.
Before Alec and Brandon stood a very tall-looking golem.
Yes, Alec had helped in creating a golem for Brandon, but no matter how many times he looked at it, he still felt like he was staring at a Treant Guardian that was supposed to live in the forest.
He struggled to accept why it was called a golem at all considering its nature.
But when he turned to look at Brandon, however, he saw the beaming smile on his lips and knew at that moment he wasn€™t going to ruin this happy moment for him with his assumption of why such creation should not be called a golem.
Alec had laid out the two choices he felt were suitable for him after consulting the system, and Brandon had chosen the mutated wood golem.
Yet, Brandon had remained puzzled about how Alec was supposed to work his magic and help him create a wood golem, especially since neither of them possessed a Plant element affinity.
Even Arthur had asked how the Fourth Elder had created such a golem with a Plant element, but that question was met with silence; because even Brandon had never asked his father about it.
Nonetheless, Alec reassured him not to worry.
After paying the system€™s fees, the method to create the golem had been revealed, and the necessary materials were stored in the system€™s inventory.
All Alec had to do was pull them out one at a time, leaving his two best friends bewildered about how he had come into contact with such rare resources such as a thousand years Tree body and others.
Unlike others on the team, the members of the Gordon clan were aware that the resources needed to properly elevate a golem to the Mid Tier were anything but cheap considering it was the main path of their clan, yet Alec had already provided materials for more than three golems.
And he seems to even have enough spare to help create Brandon€™s golem.
Although they all knew that during their training program, Alec had deviated on his own path, and no one truly understood what he had experienced.
Yet, he was shocking them all far more than they had ever expected, despite their claims that nothing Alec did would surprise them anymore.
€œI can€™t believe you were able to craft a Mid Tier golem just like that off the bat.
I thought you were joking when you said you could do it,€ Brandon said as he stepped forward, slitting his left hand with his saber and pressing it against the chest of the Mutated Wood Golem.
He began chanting in an ancient language, binding himself to the golem, since it was a new golem it was still in some type of sleep mode.
The golem€™s eyes lit up as the binding process completed.
€œHeck, even I can only manage to craft a Low Tier basic golem no matter how hard I try, the best I can do is create one that starts at the Tier 2 realm.€ Arthur chimed in from the side, agreeing with Brandon not aware that his and Brandon€™s golem were not basic golems but of Rare rank.
Their words, though directed at each other, were clearly indirect compliments to Alec€™s mastery.
Both Brandon and Arthur had learned so much from him about being shameless when needed, and that is why they weren€™t about to openly admit how impressive he was.
Instead, they opted for subtle praise, knowing it would still inflate Alec€™s ego.
As the binding concluded, the golem bowed before Brandon, its mouth moving awkwardly as it tried to speak.
Only broken words escaped, but this was enough to bring a smile to Brandon€™s face, as he now had a talking golem.
Though its speech was fragmented, he believed that with time, it would improve.
After all, most of Alec€™s golems had started the same way, their voices becoming clearer as they developed.

Golem Type: Mutated Wood Golem
Tier: 4 (Low)
Rank: Rare
Affinity: Plant, Earth
As Alec examined the status of the Mutated Wood Golem, he finally understood why it was termed €œmutated.€
It possessed control over two elements, just like Arthur€™s Silver Body Golem.
And it made Alec feel like every golem he touched was destined to become something extraordinary due to the assistance from the system.

€œHey, even your golem has a dual affinity: Earth and Plant,€ Alec pointed out, causing a ripple of excitement among the group.
As they celebrated the success of Alec€™s latest experiment to enhance his clansmen€™s powers, loud cheers erupted from outside.
€œIt seems the winner for third place has been chosen,€ Arthur said, and Alec and Brandon nodded in agreement.
€œGet the others ready, you€™re all coming to my room tonight,€ Alec announced before whistling his way out of the training hall.
He wanted to leave quickly, hoping to avoid running into the Dean who was hell bent on seeing him, and he was also running out of excuses so he decided to disappear for a while.
He wasn€™t ready to deal with the Dean€™s relentless questioning yet, he much preferred Selene, who simply accepted that he had secrets that weren€™t meant to be pried into.
The Dean, on the other hand, seemed increasingly determined to uncover the source of Alec€™s abilities and achievements.
—
The War God Mage Academy Dean, elated by the conclusion of the match, wasted no time slipping away from the company of academy leaders and clan elders in the second section of the VIP booth.
The barrage of questions from them had left him feeling helpless.
Everyone seemed convinced that the War God Mage Academy had somehow secured the services of top talents, like a master alchemist, a skilled rune smith, and an array expert.
Some deans even went as far as asking if the academy had hidden a forging talent, though this claim was quickly dismissed when another elder pointed out the poor state of the War God team€™s uniforms.
The elder who made that observation immediately regretted it when he caught the glare the Dean sent his way.
It was clear the new Dean felt cornered, besieged by a group of old schemers who were all trying to justify their thinly veiled attempts at poaching talents they believed his academy had hidden.
€œI€™m doing the martial world a favour by taking such a genius off your hands.€ One elder smugly declared,
€œTalents like these can only flourish where proper resources are available, your academy is too poor to help them reach their peak.
Stop being selfish, Dean, and hand them over.€ Another chimed in,
The Dean fumed silently as the elders made their arguments.
€œHypocrites, do they think that if I knew how Alec was pulling all of this off, I wouldn€™t have tried to benefit from it myself?
All they want is to steal talent from us, why even bother sugar-coating their disgusting intentions?€ he thought as he made his way towards the Third section of the VIP booth to unite with the team.
As he was walking there, his anger simmering, a realization struck him.
He had also been trying to pester Alec in the same way these elders and academy leaders were pestering him.
The only difference was that he hadn€™t yet had the chance to confront Alec directly.
And the only reason he didn€™t mind waiting too much was because they€™d eventually return to the academy together.
And there he would have enough time to uncover Alec€™s secrets later.
But now he realized why Alec had been avoiding him.
The thought that he was behaving the same way those pestering him were made him cringe for a moment.
€œNo, it€™s not the same, I just want to know so I can improve the War God Mage Academy powers.€ The Dean muttered to himself trying to rationalize his actions.
€œ
Yet, without realizing it, he had fallen into the same loop as those academy leaders and clan elders.
He was justifying his actions under the guise of a noble cause, all while driven by the same greed he had accused the others of harbouring.
