The Golem Mage - Chapter 698
Chapter 698: Type 3.
Chapter 698: Type 3.
Among the twenty-five Type 3 zombies, five stood out, and they were positioned prominently at the forefront of the unique zombies emerging from the space gate.
The Tier 7 mages of Estonia City scrutinized these five with heightened focus, attempting to analyse their power levels as they sent forth their spirit senses.
However, as their spirit senses extended toward the group, the lead Type 3 zombie turned in their direction and unleashed an overwhelming surge of mental power, obliterating their spirit senses before they could get close.
€œHmm, these ones in the front are dangerous, It seems they are all in the Peak Tier 7 realm, how are we ever going to contain this many zombies when even their leaders surpass us in rank?€ Sir Marcus remarked, his frown deepening at the grim situation confronting Estonia City.
The lead zombie at the forefront was an unusual sight, as it had a disproportionately large head atop a tiny body.
Despite emitting a Peak Tier 7 aura, its combat abilities likely wouldn€™t rival even those of a Tier 6 mage, and this was because it was a Mental Type zombie, one of the most feared among their kind despite its lesser battle powers.
Mental Type zombies were the natural leaders of zombie hordes.
If a horde of 100,000 zombies were led by a Strength Type zombie, they would cause significant destruction but could eventually be defeated by an army of mages three times their number.
However, with a Mental Type at the helm, even an army five times larger might struggle without reinforcements.
The danger lay in the Mental Type zombie€™s unique abilities, because unlike the Strength Type, which issued direct, verbal-like commands, the Mental Type zombies were connected to every subordinate zombie through a hive mind-like link, akin to the Zerg€™s hive mind.
This connection allowed them to coordinate the horde flawlessly, compensating for the zombies€™ lack of intelligence.
They could dictate when to attack, when to retreat, identify weak points in the defenders€™ lines, and employ tactics far beyond what was expected of zombies.
Such capabilities made them indispensable leaders, heavily protected by the strongest zombies in the horde.
Eliminating a Mental Type zombie was critical, as its death would slowly destabilize the entire horde, however, reaching one amid a protected formation was a challenge few armies could overcome.
The Darkbliss Clan patriarch fixed his gaze on the Mental Type 3 Zombie with its eerie blue body.
He was certain that the four zombies flanking it were likely there to only protect it, as each of them radiated a Peak Tier 7 aura, similar to the Mental Type which meant they were not under its command.
However, unlike the Mental Type zombie, whose combat abilities fell short of its rank but made up for it with unparalleled command skills, these four zombies were clearly at the pinnacle of their realms battle prowess.
Their strength was not just due to the deadly virus they carried, nor the speed with which they could infect others compared to the lower-ranked zombies, but because of their immense physical power.
Having undergone their second evolution to become Type 3 Zombies, they were now close to being apex predators within the zombie hierarchy.
These four guards consisted of two Strength Type 3 Zombies, one Agility Type 3 Zombie, and one Hunter Type 3 Zombie.
All stood at Peak Tier 7, and even after the Mental Type 3 Zombie obliterated the mages€™ mana senses to prevent further investigation, they still exuded their aura with a mocking air, as if ridiculing the Tier 7 mages of the city for their apparent inferiority.
The Hunter Type 3 Zombie looked more like a demonic beast than a typical zombie, as Its body was encased in a black carapace like exoskeleton, offering natural armour.
A menacing tail, curved like that of a scorpion, extended all the way to its neck, hinting at its lethality.
The Agility Type 3 Zombie shared the blue skin of the Mental Type, but its form was vastly different.
It lacked the oversized head of the Mental Type but boasted incredibly long, razor-sharp claws.
Its slender and streamlined body was perfectly sculpted, devoid of the usual clumsiness associated with zombies, among the unique zombies, it had eliminated the racial slowness better than any of its counterparts.
As for the two Strength Type 3 Zombies, their towering forms were imposing, their chests jutted out like unbreakable shields, and their muscles were so massive and bulging that they seemed on the verge of bursting.
Interestingly, their evolutionary paths differed from each other, reflecting distinct strengths that made them equally formidable on the battlefield.

One of the Strength Type 3 Zombies had an oversized arm encased in black, bone-like armour extending to its elbow.
The bone resembled a formidable gauntlet and complemented its dark blue skin, creating an imposing figure.
In contrast, the other Strength Type 3 Zombie wielded flaming-coloured claws that burned with destructive intensity as it had some patch of red on some parts of its body, though both belonged to the Strength Type class, but their mutations had clearly branched into different paths.
One relied on flames to deliver devastating damage, while the other€™s massive arms resembled pillars of pure destruction.
€œKill them all!€ The Mental Type Zombie finally spoke, issuing its first command.
Although its words were few, but the effect was immediate and overwhelming, as the unique zombies sprang into overdrive, all but the four guarding the Mental Zombie charging forward.
The Mental Zombie remained stationed near the space gate, flanked by its guardians, while twenty other Type 3 Zombies comprising of Speed and Strength Types with various mutations dashed toward the Tier 7 mages in the skies.
The zombies moved with unnatural frenzy, as though fuelled by some dark stimulant.
They stormed the battlefield, colliding with the human mages, spreading chaos, and turning the scene into a blood-soaked arena.
Black and red blood splattered across the battlefield as the conflict raged.

Meanwhile, as the city faced one of its most dangerous battles, the elders of the Gordon clan had left the defence of the clan castle to the clan€™s golem spirit.
They were all engrossed in watching Brandon€™s battle on the crystal mirror that the patriarch had bought sneakily again, but this time they were too tired to complain.
Arthur€™s performance had already brought them immense joy, especially the Third Elder.
And now seeing Brandon hold his ground was another source of pride for them, and they became so absorbed in the spectacle that they forgot their plan to assist if the city was broken into and were now only interested in intervening if the golem spirit alerted them to any incoming attacks near the clan houses.
