The Golem Mage - Chapter 700
Chapter 700: A Loophole.
Chapter 700: A Loophole.
As the dust finally settled, the crowd could clearly see the aftermath of the intense battle at the center of the stage.
On one side stood Soren, his chest and hands soaked in blood, part of the red scales protecting him had been blasted apart, leaving him visibly weakened as blood continued to drip from his injuries.
On the other side was Brandon, who had his greatsword stabbed into the ground to steady him, his upper body was completely bare, revealing his chiselled physique, a testament to years of rigorous weapon training and cultivation.
His torn uniform lay in shreds, and blood streaked his torso.
Behind Brandon was the Treant Golem that had been summoned, its wooden fingers were imbued with healing energy as they pressed into Brandon€™s back.
Though the healing process was slow, but the crowd could already see some of his wounds beginning to improve slightly.
Soren, clinging desperately to hope, watched with mounting frustration as Brandon showed signs of recovery.
His fury spiked, and in one last attempt to change the tide, he tried to muster an attack.
But his body, exhausted and battered, betrayed him, before he could act, the Treant raised its right hand and launched a vine spear that pierced through Soren, pinning him to the ground and leaving him unconscious.
€œAnd the winner is Brandon Gordons!€ the referee declared as Soren€™s body collapsed.
The crowd erupted into wild cheers, as fans of the War God Academy roared with jubilation, while even neutral spectators couldn€™t help but applaud the team€™s exceptional performance.
Their underdog victories had shocked the arena, securing two critical points against the heavily favoured Bloodline Academy.
€œBrandon Gordons!!!€ The name rang out as Alec and Arthur rushed onto the stage to assist their teammate who recalled his golem.
Alec quickly retrieved a pill bottle from his space ring and fed Brandon three Mid tier Level 2 healing pills.
In the VIP second section, a few onlookers gritted their teeth in frustration at Alec€™s apparent extravagance, to them, even one pill would have sufficed for a slower but sufficient recovery.
So using three seemed like an unforgivable waste of such precious resources.
The cost and difficulty of obtaining those healing pills were astronomical, and the academy reserved the ones they managed to craft strictly for emergencies.
Yet, Alec had just used three of these highly prized pills on a mage they didn€™t hold in high regard.
This prompted many to glance toward the Dean of the War God Mage Academy, who silently vowed that Alec would be hearing from him after all he had just to put through because of him.
After Alec administered three pills to Brandon, his injuries began to heal at an astonishing rate, visible to everyone as the wounds on his body closed rapidly.
While others might have been appalled at such waste, Alec was unfazed.
Though he knew that producing these pills was not only challenging for alchemists but also for him, as there was a very low chance of obtaining them from Mid-rank beast loot.
However, Alec had managed to accumulate a substantial stockpile from the untouched loots he just opened and stored, about 50 Mid Tier 1 healing pills (Tier 4), 20 Mid Tier 2 healing pills (Tier 5), and 5 Mid Tier 3 healing pills (Tier 6).
Though he considered using a Tier 6 pill, but he had several reasons not to, one was that it would be overkill for Brandon€™s injuries.
Even Tier 4 pills would have sufficed for recovery, but Tier 5 was more effective given Brandon€™s Mage realm.
That€™s why Alec didn€™t hesitate to use three of them, but if he had squandered his Tier 6 pills, which could almost revive a Tier 5 mage on the brink of death, even Alec would have shared the sentiments of those in the VIP section who felt it was wasteful.
Without further delay, the Bloodline Academy moved to retrieve their member from the battle stage.
While various mages appeared around the cracked stage, channelling mana into the space beneath it.

The battle stage then began to repair itself gradually, taking a full three minutes to return to its previous state.
Remarkably, it appeared even stronger than before, as if the more mana infused into it, the more fortified it became.
€œBloodline Academy, choose your next fighter!€ the referee announced, prompting a hush among the Bloodline Academy fans.
As it was time for them to take the stage again, but unlike before, their confidence was now shaken.
The War God Mage Academy already had two wins, and if they decided to capitalize on this by sending Alec against a weaker opponent from the Bloodline Academy, it could mean the battle was effectively over.
As the referee called for the Bloodline Academy to take the stage, Carmilla attempted to rise, but felt someone grasp her hand.
Turning, she saw Damien shaking his head, he wasn€™t entirely confident that the War God Academy team would play the long game; as they might just take the short route to victory.
If Alec stepped onto the stage to face Carmilla and she lost, the War God Academy team would win the final, regardless of whether the Bloodline Academy could secure two wins later.
€œI shall fight in this round,€ Damien declared, surprising Carmilla with his seriousness.
But an even more unexpected event occurred when Dragov stood up, gazing at the ever-opening space eyes in the sky with no enemy in sight.
€œNo, you won€™t be fighting.
I will step onto that stage,€ Dragov announced.
€œIf I win, you€™ll all get your chance, if I lose, we€™ll withdraw without fighting the next two matches, which would be a great shame.€ With that, Dragov stepped into the ring, his back to his team members.
As Dragov took the stage, even Damien began to worry after seeing Alec smirking, he then realized that Alec could exploit this situation by sending someone else up, thereby using Dragov€™s chance to fight him while still giving Alec the opportunity to face a weaker opponent later.
Damien was now fully aware of the significant advantage the War God Academy team held over them due to the battle format chosen by the committee.
He silently cursed the committee for establishing such rules.
If the committee members knew what Damien was thinking, they would have been furious, as they had intentionally designed the rules to restrain the War God Academy team.
However, instead of the Bloodline Academy enjoying a smooth path to victory, they were losing disastrously to the War God Mage Academy.
And they had placed themselves in a precarious position, allowing the War God Academy team to exploit the loopholes in the format to their advantage after leading with two wins.
