Chapter 750: Training, Preparations and Plans 2.
Beside Alec stood Endrick and Sophia, uncertain about where they fit into his plans since they weren€™t earth-elemental mages.
However, Alec had made it clear that they would remain by his side, which was why they stayed close as he issued commands.
In fact, Alec€™s decision to take in two non-earth-element mages into the clan and give them the clan name immediately had even surprised his Grandfather.
Traditionally, when clans accepted enforcers or arranged marriages, they prioritized mages with compatible elemental affinities.
This ensured the clan could provide appropriate spell manuals and training for the mage in question, and if the enforcer contributed enough, they could even be formally adopted into the clan, taking on the family name if they wanted and enjoying the same respect as most born members of the clan.
However, unlike the Gordons clan which were quite eased with such actions, such practices were rare among High and Ancient Clans unless they sought to bind a powerful High-rank Mage to their lineage.
So, when Alec welcomed Endrick and Sophia into the Gordon clan, the patriarch was naturally curious about his intentions, but Alec€™s only explanation was that they were his responsibility, and he intended to help them reach their full potential without draining the clan€™s resources.
George Gordons had initially been surprised by his grandson€™s sense of responsibility, taking on duties the clan would typically handle, but upon reflection, he saw it as a promising trait for a future leader of the clan and chose not to interfere.
Alec continued issuing his training directives.
€œKelvin, I want the Tier 4 Mages to focus on three spells- Earth Spear, Earth Wall, and Stone Skin.€ With that command, the Tier 4 Mages moved to another section of the mountain, which thankfully had ample space to accommodate all their training sessions despite being spread out.
€œTier 3 Mages, you€™ll be working on Earth Wave, Stone Bullet, and Earth Wall.€
€œTier 2 Mages, your focus will be on Stone Bullet and Earth Wave.€
“Tier One Mages, your focus will be on Earth Wave and Earth Spikes,” One by one, Alec assigned each group their spells, ensuring that every mage had a clear training objective, finalizing the spells each realm would train in.
While the mid-rank mages immediately dispersed to begin their practice, Alec held back the low-rank mages.
As he had more plans for them.
“You all will play a crucial role in this battle, and I plan to mentor you personally,” he announced.
But before they began, they were observing the Tier 5 and Tier 4 Mages as they demonstrated the Low Tier spells.
The sight of nearly twenty Tier 5 Mages casting Earthquake, Earth Spear, and Stone Skin sent shivers through the low-rank mages.
The sheer scale of destruction was enough to make their bodies tense.
However, Alec was far from impressed when he saw this.
Though their spells carried more range and power than when casted by the low rank mages, but he could see that their strength came more from their higher mage realm rather than actual mastery, their understanding of the spells was lacking.
When they cast Earthquake, they managed to disorient a vast area, but even that fell short of Alec€™s expectations.
And Stone Skin?
It barely covered their chests in a thin, fragile layer of rock, something that might hold against Tier 4 Mages but was still nowhere near its true potential according to Alec’s understanding.
Alec felt irritation rise within him, his clansmen, blessed with such strong earth affinity, had clearly been neglecting these spells.
€˜What had they even been using their abilities for?€™ he thought
“Stop!” Alec’s voice cut through the air, halting their demonstrations.
He shook his head, disappointment clear in his expression.
“I’ve seen all you had to show, and I have to say, only a few of you had managed to impress me.”
His tone was sharp, and his gaze was piercing, the truth was, Alec could see their spell comprehension levels using his system analysis skill the moment they casted their spells, and they were far from where he needed them to be.
The highest mastery among the Tier 5 Mages belonged to Brandon, who had reached the peak of the low tier spells, level 5 in all the three spells.
However, the rest of his gang had only reached Level 4 or 3 in each, which made it clear that even they had neglected their basic spells, though Alec didn€™t entirely blame them, but he wasn€™t about to lead mages into battle who hadn€™t even reached Level 5 in the spells he had assigned them in not to talk about the rest of the Tier 5 mages who only had merger knowledge of the low Tier spells being in lvl 2 or 1.

At that moment, he felt relieved that he still had a week and six more days to train them, as with his new [One Thousand Man General] title in effect, he was confident he could push them all to Level 5 at the very least.
In fact, he was even hoping that some of them would evolve these basic spells to their intermediate forms, significantly boosting their battle power, because when a low Tier spell evolves to become a Mid Tier Spell it’s normally much stronger than the regular Mid Tier Spell, almost like the elements were rewarding the hard work put to reach that level.
Each spell Alec had chosen for their training was essential to his strategy, and Stone Skin and Earth Wall were arguably the most important, even more so than the offensive Earth Spear spell.
But that didn€™t mean Earth Spear was any less crucial, it just played a different role in the grand scheme of things.
“Let me demonstrate,” Alec announced as he stepped forward.
His words immediately drew the attention of not just the Tier 5 Mages but also the Tier 4 Mages, who paused their own training to watch along with the low-rank mages who had stood still since a while ago, eager to witness the difference between Alec€™s mastery and their own.
[> Mid-Tier Spell €“ Earth Spear <]
The moment Alec activated his spell, a wave of shock passed through the watching mages.
They all knew Earth Spear was traditionally classified as a Low-Tier Spell, yet when Alec cast it, the energy surrounding him told a completely different story.
Not only did they realise that Alec€™s Earth spear has reached the Mid-Tier Spell level, but the sheer density of earth runes revolving around him was far beyond what the Low-Tier earth spear spell they had casted a few second ago could produce, even if it were casted by a bunch of Tier 5 Mage.
Raising his hand, Alec locked eyes with Brandon.
Because among all his friends, he had the most faith in Brandon€™s potential, that if anyone could push these Low-Tier Spells into the Mid-Tier domain faster, then it was him.
As Brandon didn€™t just possess Peak Earth Affinity, he had also awakened a variant ability, something that set him apart from the rest.
