The Golem Mage - Chapter 763

Chapter 763: The Lanzt Plan Cancelled?.
He knew for a fact that the Gordons no longer held the City Hall in high regard after what happened to their clan, and until the City Lord deemed it the right time to go against them, Marcus had no intention of crossing swords with such battle-hardened mage warriors.
Especially not with the Blood Moon War approaching, strong allies were needed, not enemies.
Besides, if he were to get injured in a confrontation with the Gordons before the war even started, he would have only himself to blame.
He would be an easy target for the zombies that would soon flood the battlefield, so avoiding unnecessary conflict while maintaining his authority was his best course of action.
€œI€™m just saying, make sure your younger ranks realize this is a war zone, not a picnic ground,€ Marcus said before levitating back to his position.
He felt much safer there, surrounded by Sir Alistair and the other clan mages loyal to the City Hall, just in case the Third Elder decided to escalate things further.
Seeing Marcus retreat, the Third Elder snickered and was about to follow him just to throw back some parting words when he felt a firm grip on his shoulder.
€œLet him be, even if you don€™t listen to the Patriarch, at least listen to that little kid€™s advice.
€˜Save your strength for the War, I might need to call on you,€ the Fourth Elder said.
€œThat€™s what he said, so don€™t mess this up.€
The Third Elder exhaled sharply, finally calming down.
His gaze shifted downward, where Alec stood with his arms folded, observing everything, meanwhile, the sub-leaders he had appointed were busy giving orders to the respective mages under their own commands.
At that moment, the two Elders understood why some might think the Gordons were here for sightseeing.
Alec had stationed their forces completely separate from the other clans, and if he decided to use Earth magic to conceal them, they could potentially sit out the entire war while the City Hall mages and the other clans fought in their place.
And If Alec decided to attack, he would be doing so without support from the other clans, all alone due to the position he was staying, the two Elders couldn€™t understand why he had positioned the Gordons mages this way, but all they could do was watch and hope he truly knew what he was doing.
Just then, Alec turned his gaze towards them and flashed them a wide grin, causing both Elders immediately looked away.
€œDon€™t look at that boy again, He€™s the Grand Elder and the Patriarch incarnate in one body, every bad quality they have, wrapped in a single person, with only a few redeeming ones, there€™s no way he doesn€™t know what he€™s doing, that kid has always been a fox, on par with veterans twice his age.
Don€™t waste your time worrying about him.€ The Third Elder muttered.
As he quickly made the Fourth Elder promise not to look down at the Gordons€™ position again, the last thing he wanted was to make eye contact with Alec, lest the boy use it as an excuse to cash in on the favour he was still owed.

With the drama among the Tier 7 mages finally settling down, discussions still buzzed among the lower-ranked mages, all waiting for the battle to begin, many were now realizing just how unconventional the Gordons€™ approach was.
€œWhat are we supposed to do now?
You said we€™d be shameless enough to follow them wherever they went, do you still think that€™s possible?€ Sheila Lanzt asked, her tone laced with frustration.
The Tier 4 mages of the Lanzt clan looked equally lost also, their initial plan of clinging to the Gordons now seeming increasingly unlikely.
Bryan Lanzt sighed, shaking his head, though Sheila€™s question had been laced with sarcasm, he found himself too preoccupied with bigger concerns to care.
€œSheila, I€™ve been estimating the strength of the Gordons€™ younger generation, and I thought I had been overestimating them, but even then, I unknowingly underestimated them,€ Bryan admitted, staring at the hill where the Gordons had stationed themselves.
For the first time, he hesitated when he thought about something as he didn€™t want to make another mistake, as he thought
€˜Could we even approach them now without looking like an outsider begging to be included by the other clans?€™
That was what was swirling through Bryan€™s head as he had always believed he could be shameless enough to stick with the Gordons no matter what, but this was the first time he was learning that shamelessness had levels, and sticking to the Gordons right now would require one that was on an entirely different tier.
€œWhat do you mean by that?€ Sheila asked, still confused by her brother€™s words.
€œArthur, Agnes, and even that one called Knight, they were all Alec€™s followers back in the day, right?
Well, they€™re all Tier 5 mages now,€ Bryan said, his tone laced with disbelief.

€œAll this time, I thought they€™d be Tier 4 at most, and if they were ahead of us, I assumed they€™d be at the peak of the Tier 4 realm at the most, since it is harder to advance in the Mid Ranks than the lower ranks.€
He took a deep breath before continuing.
€œBut no, they didn€™t just surpass my expectations by a small margin.
They€™re all in the High Tier 5 Mage Realm.
And Brandon, that short kid from before?
He€™s now leading the Tier 5 mages of the Gordons clan.€ He turned to his sister, eyes sharp.
€œDo you understand what that means?€
This time, it wasn€™t just Sheila who was listening, the mages from their clan, stationed with them and were aware of Bryan€™s past connections to the Gordons younger generation, started grasping the sheer absurdity of the Gordons€™ cultivation speed.
€œWhat does it mean?€ someone from the crowd asked.
The surrounding mages leaned in, waiting for Bryan€™s answer, even members of other clans within earshot turned their attention to him, as their curiosity piqued.
€œIt means Alec Gordons is much stronger than we thought,€ Bryan said, his gaze fixed on Alec, who sat atop what appeared to be his demonic beast mount.
Behind him, the Tier 6 mages of the Gordons stood at ease, showing no sign of exerting their presence, yet their mere existence was enough to send waves of speculation through the crowd.
€˜If Alec was truly leading them, did that mean he had already stepped into the Tier 6 Mage Realm himself?€™
Though Bryan hadn€™t voiced this thought, the fact that the Tier 6 mages treated Alec as their leader planted a seed of doubt in many minds, the mages watching began to reconsider everything they knew about him.
But before anyone could discuss it further, the space gate finally started to shift.
