Chapter 769: Assassination Competition 2.
That shout clearly came directly from the Type 3 mental zombie, shocking even the High-rank human mages with its sudden outburst.
They quickly noticed its eyes fixed on the left side of the battlefield, the area where the Low-rank human mages and the Low-rank zombie horde were supposed to clash.
Alec€™s earlier feat of eliminating over a thousand zombies had been impressive, but most High-rank mages had already shifted their focus to the Mid-rank battlefield, where they felt the real danger lay.
However, this single reaction from the Type 3 mental zombie had now dragged everyone€™s attention back to Alec€™s group.
The Gordon elders, who had been observing the battle all along, couldn€™t help but let their expressions darken.
€œDo you remember when that boy said he might need to call on us soon, and we didn€™t take his words seriously?€ The Fourth Elder asked, having quickly deciphered Alec€™s strategy.
€œYeah…€ The Third Elder replied, dragging out the word as realization dawned on him.
€œWell, I don€™t think he€™ll even have to call us.
We€™ll probably have to step in before things spiral out of control,€ the Fourth Elder remarked, sensing the growing grudge the Type 3 mental zombie now harboured against the Gordon mages above the hilltop.
The High-rank human mages were also quick to piece together what was happening, their eyes fell on the five dead Type 1 mental zombies, ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 3, that had been discreetly controlling the horde.
While they hadn€™t known these mental zombies were hidden among the ranks, they now fully understood why the Type 3 mental zombie was enraged.
Alec had been effectively cutting off its extended limbs, its surveillance and control over that section of the battlefield.
And now, just as the last Tier 3 mental zombie in the Low-rank battlefield was about to be eliminated by the bullet and arrow Legion and Endrick had fired, a desperate shift occurred.
Various mutated zombies threw themselves into the line of fire, sacrificing their bodies in an attempt to shield their final commander chance of escape.
It was almost as if this was the Type 3 mental zombie€™s last desperate effort to protect the last mental type zombie there, the last piece that was allowing it to keep its surveillance over the Low-rank horde.
As if Alec managed to eliminate this last mental zombie, the Type 3 would lose its ability to fully comprehend the battlefield through the eyes of its subordinate, worse still, it would no longer be able to issue commands effectively, given how far away it was from the Low-Tier zombies.
That final mental type 1 zombie was its only remaining link to the Low-rank horde, and it was fighting to keep it alive.
As several Peak Tier 3 Strength-type zombies had already sacrificed themselves to shield it, but now, a new wave of danger emerged for the Gordons mages, Speed-type zombies.
From within the chaotic swarm of mutated undead, these speed demons suddenly dashed forward, heading straight for the hilltop.
Alec€™s lips curled into a smirk, the zombie army had officially marked him as their target.
The reason was clear: the mental type 1 zombie was trying to assassinate him.
€œIf you think just because your superiors saved you once, you€™re safe… then you€™re still just another brain-rotted fool.€ Alec murmured, immediately recognizing the Type 1€™s counterattack.
He raised his hands and turned to the sub-Tier 3 Mage leader.
€œIt€™s time to hunt down the hunting dogs.
Tier 3 Mages, take the front!
Cast Earth Walls on both sides to trap the speed-types in a narrow corridor, forcing them to come straight at us!€
Alec€™s voice carried authority, and the Tier 3 Mages immediately stepped forward as the Tier 1 Mages fell back, making space.
The battlefield shifted as over two hundred Tier 3 human mages and their golems took formation at the frontline, while they didn€™t fill the space as completely as the Tier 1 mages had, the sheer aura of power they emitted was enough to send chills down the spines of those watching.
A moment later, the air hummed with magic.

The air crackled with magic as ten stone bullets erupted from the fingertips of each member of the two hundred Tier 3 Mages, that meant a total of two thousand bullets were fired simultaneously in barrage, rocketing toward the trapped Speed-type zombies.
Ting!
Ting!
Ting!
Despite their enhanced speed and reinforced bodies, the speed type 1 zombies had no room to dodge, already trapped in the narrow corridor by Alec€™s plan, they could only raise their arms defensively, but with such a concentrated barrage, bullets struck the same weak points repeatedly, tearing through flesh and bone.
By the time the first salvo ended, over six hundred Speed-type zombies had been wiped out.
And those who survived, their bodies riddled with holes, blood pouring from countless wounds as they staggered forward, their once relentless charge now sluggish.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, the Low-Rank mages, who had been completely ignored by the zombie army, had no idea what was happening.
The massive Earth Walls erected by Alec€™s mages completely blocked their view, leaving them oblivious to the devastating slaughter unfolding beyond, all they could hear was the sound of bullets being fired.
Those watching from above were shocked beyond words at how effortlessly Alec and the mages under him mowed down the zombies, but the ones who were truly dumbfounded were the elders of the Gordon Clan.
Unlike the others, they understood the sheer absurdity of what had just happened.
The most basic Low-Tier spell, Earth Bullet, had been used to accomplish this massacre.
Yet, what they had just witnessed defied all logic, the bullets moved at speeds far beyond normal, appearing as nothing more than streaks of brown blurs, their penetration and explosive power were nothing short of terrifying, making the elders question if they were hallucinating.
But when they saw the mages casting the spell again, and the brown-coloured runes manifesting beneath them, there was no room for doubt
It really was just Earth Bullets.
With its low mana cost, the Tier 3 Mages could fire over a hundred of them before even feeling the strain, but despite the sheer devastation they had unleashed, the Speed-type zombies were unlike the first thousand normal zombies that had come for the Gordons, these ones were mutated, and they kept charging forward, completely unfazed by fear or fatigue.
It was only a matter of time before the Gordons would be forced into direct combat with the remaining Speed-types who would survive their second attack.
€œThis is why I hate undead.€ Alec sighed, his gaze shifting toward Legion.
€œSummon your squad.
I want you to bring me the big head of that last Mental-type zombie.€
Alec€™s plan was clear, shatter the zombies€™ coordination by taking down their leader, without it, they would revert to their primitive state, fighting with nothing but mindless instinct.
Against Low-Rank zombies, this method would be devastatingly effective.
But Alec knew that over in the Mid-Rank battlefield, things would be different if he tried this, as even non-Mental type Mid rank zombies possessed intelligence, just not enough and not capable enough to lead such a large horde.
