The Golem Mage - Chapter 773
Chapter 773: Cybernetic Golem Squad 2.
With that brief display of dominance, Legion effortlessly eliminated five Tier 6 zombies, foes that were in the same realm as him with such ease that the Type 3 mental zombie who was watching from a distance, felt a growing sense of unease.
While Legion handled the first five Speed-Type Tier 6 zombies, Numbers 4, 5, and 6 had already moved in, closing the distance on the remaining five Unique Mutated Tier 6 zombies.
Seeing a Tier 5 lifeform willingly charge at a Tier 6 was surprising enough, but three of them taking on five Tier 6 zombies? That was almost unheard of.
The power gap in the Mid-rank was so vast that bridging even a tiny small improvement in the same realm was exponentially harder than, say, a Tier 1 Mage facing a Tier 3 Mage, and yet, these cybernetic golems didn’t hesitate, they moved without fear, charging straight into battle.
Number 4 and 5 took the lead while Number 6 trailed just behind them.
[Tank Class Ability – Ares’s Wide Shield]
[Tank Class Ability – Sentinel’s Tall Shield]
Wasting no time, Numbers 4 and 5 activated their special abilities, and Number 5’s shield formed a tall, rectangular energy barrier that covered it from head to toe, however, the flanks remained exposed, making it a single-directional defence.
The translucent energy shield moved fluidly with its wielder, staying perfectly linked to its movements.
Meanwhile, Number 4’s ability deployed a much wider shield, designed not just for personal protection but It was also able to safeguard any allies behind it.
As Number 5 moved, it strategically positioned itself behind Number 4, as it planned to exploit the special ability of number 4’s shield, as when he also accounted for his own active shield he saw it as having a formidable layered defence.
The four Strength-Type zombies wasted no time, they didn’t wait for an invitation or allow the cybernetic golems to strike first, instead, they initiated the attack.
The first Strength-Type zombie at the forefront was massive, standing taller and bulkier than the others, it was clear that, before its undead transformation, it had belonged to the Ogre race.
Now, as a zombie, its already colossal strength had only been enhanced further by the Zombie virus-induced evolution.
The Ogre zombie led the other Strength-Type zombies forward, its massive frame dominating the battlefield.
With a thunderous roar, it launched a colossal fist strike straight toward Number 4, who was at the forefront as Numbers 5 and 6, had taken shelter behind him due to his Wide shield.
A ghostly afterimage of the Ogre’s monstrous fist lingered in the air, radiating raw power as it barrelled toward its target.
But Number 4 didn’t flinch, instead, as he closed the distance, he extended his right hand, and in an instant, a weapon materialized, a broad, short sword with a glowing blue-white laser blade.
If Alec had to name this weapon, he would have called it a lightsaber, if not for its broader design and metallic hilt.
The core of the blade shone with a pure white light, while the edges pulsed with an icy blue glow, giving it a deadly yet elegant appearance.
In his left hand, a uniquely crafted firearm emerged, distinctly different from standard guns, the moment both weapons had fully formed, Number 4 pushed forward, refusing to slow down even as the Ogre zombie’s attack loomed closer.
“AARGHH!”
The Ogre zombie’s roar erupted like a shockwave, shaking the air before its giant fist attack even landed, but Number 4 wasn’t about to stand still and take the hit without doing anything, even with his defensive shield activated.
After all, despite the shield’s formidable protection, it wasn’t invincible, it had a damage threshold, and once exceeded, it would collapse and enter a cool down period before it could be summoned again.
So, instead of bracing for impact, Number 4 did the unthinkable, he dashed forward leaving Number 5 and 6 behind, as he was planning on meeting the Tier 6 attack head-on.
A move that none of the High rank human mages watching had expected.
Raising his left hand, he fired at the incoming fist.
Sling!
The sharp whir of razor-sharp projectiles sliced through the air as he emptied his six-round clip, the blades soared with deadly precision, twisting and curving in the air like a lethal dance, before embedding themselves into the Ogre’s massive fist.
A small network of cracks formed along the fist’s surface, but Number 4 knew it wasn’t enough to fully stop the attack, so he made a split-second decision, he sacrificed his left hand’s firepower.

With a swift movement, he pressed his firearm against the side of his left leg, and in an instant, his cybernetic components activated, locking the weapon into place.
His own body had just created a holster.
With the gun out of the way, Number 4 raised his sword to his chest, gripping it with both hands as he assumed a defensive stance. His goal was simple, hold off the incoming attack just long enough to give Numbers 5 and 6 a chance to capitalize on the opening and launch a counterattack.
Bang!
The Ogre zombie’s fist slammed into him with full force.
His shield shattered instantly after absorbing its maximum damage output, and his body was sent hurtling downward, crashing into the ground, the impact was so intense that his body skidded across the battlefield, crushing several low-rank zombies in his path.
But his act of sacrifice was not in vain.
With the Ogre’s focus on Number 4, Numbers 5 and 6 seized their opportunity.
As number 5 immediately activated his Cryo Launcher and fired.
Kaboom!
A loud explosion rang out as the barrel of the Barrage Cryo Grenade Launcher released three ice-coated shells, each radiating an intense cold aura, this specialized weapon was known for its ability to drastically slow down enemies after multiple hits, a perfect counter against the already sluggish Ogre zombie.
The three icy projectiles arced through the air before descending toward their target, each one precisely locked onto the Ogre via Number 5’s weapon tracking system.
But the mutated zombies, unaware of the danger, did not take the attack seriously.
One of the Strength-Type zombies displaying a surprising level of loyalty to the Ogre zombie swatted at one of the incoming shells, trying to protect the Ogre zombie as if it were defending its leader.
This act of instinctive coordination was yet another reminder of why Alec felt the Mid-Rank zombies were far more dangerous than Low-Rank zombies.
Because unlike the low ranks which would turn into a mindless horde attacking on instinct after losing their leaders, the Mid ranks on the other hand exhibited intelligence, strategy, and organization, which was why Alec had never believed that simply killing the Type 2 Mental zombies would be enough to cripple the Mid rank zombie forces in the Mid battlefield.
“Bad move. Tch.”
Legion, having finished off his own opponents, showed no intention of intervening in the fight, instead, he stood back, watched, and made casual remarks as his minions handled the remaining zombies.
As for the last Type 1 Mental zombie, it had already been captured.
Number 1 stood behind it, with a plasma gun pressed against the back of its head, while the others positioned themselves in a tight formation, creating a barricade around their hostage.
The once-arrogant Type 1 Mental zombie now trembled in fear, completely at their mercy.
