Chapter 777: Promised Bonus Chapter From Last Month.
“Brandon, Kelvin, from this moment on, you’re on your own!” Alec announced, raising his right hand to bring the entire Gordon Mid-Rank Mage unit to a halt.
“Huh?” Kelvin exclaimed, confused by Alec’s sudden decision.
Alec exhaled and looked over the group.
“This is where I part ways with you all. I’ve trained you for two weeks, taught you everything I could to ensure your survival, if you fight using the spells I’ve assigned you, alongside your golems, and time your moves well, I believe you might just make it out of this battlefield in one piece.”
Arthur, who had been silent until now, opened his mouth to protest—but Alec cut him off.
“Don’t argue. This is an order, Arthur, Knight, Agnes, you three will assist Brandon in keeping things smooth. Kelvin, it’s time to step up and lead your team, this is exactly why I assigned sub-leaders so that if I had to leave, you’d be able to make decisions in my place.” Alec continued with his voice firm.
His gaze swept over them.
“I know you can do this, you’ve all come a long way, you’re warrior mages of the Gordon Clan, now go prove to them just how much of a menace we are!”
“Your job is to re-route and clash with the enemy at the front, but hit them from the sides, that way, they’ll be forced to split their attention between you and the rest of the city’s forces, and don’t think for a second that just because you’re fewer in number, they’ll go easy on you.”
Finally, Alec turned to Endrick and Sophia, smirking.
“And you two, don’t get yourselves killed. I still have to work your asses harder before you can even think of repaying me for everything I got you, bottom line—don’t you dare die on me.”
With that, he clapped both of them on the shoulders, concluding what felt like an uncharacteristically sentimental speech.
“Take care of them, will you, Gabriel?” Alec said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Gabriel was momentarily stunned, he hadn’t expected Alec to send them away as well. Whatever danger Alec sensed must have been serious. But there was no point in questioning it now.
“I will,” Gabriel responded curtly.
Alec gave him a small nod of thanks before issuing his final command.
“Now move out.”
At his words, the one hundred and twenty-five Mid-Rank Gordon mages began marching toward the front lines, heading straight for the left flank, where they would be attempting to break through the Zombies Ranks.
The Tier 6 mages hovered slightly above the rest, careful not to attract too much attention, but it was already too late, the Gordons’ growing reputation had made them an immediate target.
From the zombie ranks, a force of about five hundred Tier 4 zombies, accompanied by several Tier 5s, broke off from the main horde and charged toward them.
Seeing this, Alec quickly issued another order to Legion.
“Have Number 7 and 8 locate the hidden Type 2 Mental Zombies in the horde and take them out.”
Legion responded instantly, gesturing with his hand.
As Number 8 flipped his left hand over his eye, activating a high-tech scanner glass that covered his vision, likely designed to detect heat signatures among the zombies as he waited for any slip up from the Type 2 mental zombies.
Meanwhile, Number 7 began assembling his sniper rifle from the Nano compartment within his armour. Within seconds, his weapon was fully constructed.
As the zombies closed the distance, Kelvin and Brandon both shouted in unison, “ boys activate your Stone Skin spell!”
A ripple of energy spread through the ranks as every Mid-Rank Gordon mage activated their enhanced defensive spell, and unlike before, their Stone Skin had advanced to Level 1 of the Intermediate Stage.
The once bulky and cumbersome spell had now compressed, forming a sleek, rock-like layer across their skin, tiny cracks and vein-like patterns appeared along their bodies, giving them a battle-hardened look without restricting their movements at all.
Despite its cracked appearance, Stone Skin was anything but fragile, it has now become one of the strongest defensive spells they had mastered at the Mid rank.
“Next up—Earth Spears!”

Now fully armoured against bites and scratches that could lead to infection, the Gordons Mages advanced toward the enemy, But their Tier 4 members had an even greater advantage, as they have already been equipped with full-body armour sets that reinforced their protection.
Unlike the other city forces, the Gordons didn’t wait for the zombies to reach them, they struck first.
With their defences set, the Tier 5 and Tier 4 mages quickly split into columns, standing side by side.
Their mana surged as they all chanted casted the, “Earth Spear!” spell.
The air around them grew heavy, charged with raw magical energy, each mage took a firm stance, drew their right hand back as if preparing to throw a javelin, took a steady breath, then launched their spears.
BOOM!
A thunderous sonic boom echoed across the battlefield as over a hundred Mid-Rank mages unleashed their Mid-Tier Earth Spears in unison, the sheer force of their coordinated attack was enough to shake the ground beneath them.
For the zombies, it was the sound of impending doom.
Puchi!
The earth spears tore through their ranks, piercing multiple zombies in one go, some skewered through four or more bodies before losing momentum, even the ones who weren’t instantly killed were left crippled and vulnerable, unable to continue their charge.
But the Gordons Mages didn’t stop.
They continued summoning and launching Earth Spears, using the spell’s low mana cost to their advantage, they could keep this up all day, and they intended to rain destruction upon the enemy.
However, amidst the chaos, several Speed-Type Zombies managed to break away from the horde, darting toward the Gordons’ flanks.
Unlike their strategy in the Low-Rank battle, no Earth Walls had been deployed to restrict movement.
But that was exactly what the Mid-Rank Mages wanted.
Kelvin wasted no time urging his Tier 4 mages forward, and the Speed-Type Zombies, sensing an opportunity, veered toward them in a reckless charge, but the Gordons Mages were ready.
As the zombies closed in, the mages swiftly summoned their spirit equipment shields and, with precise coordination, thrust their Spirit equipment Spears straight at their heads, killing them instantly.
However, Tier 5 Strength-Type Zombies had mixed into the assault, their tougher exoskeletons making them far harder to bring down with a single strike, some took multiple hits before they finally fell.
Yet, despite the increasing difficulty, the Gordons Tier 4 Mages never wavered, they held their ground, unyielding, striking with relentless precision at every opening they found.
