The Golem Mage - Chapter 778
Chapter 778: About Time.
So the Gordons Mages fought in tight-knit formations of three, executing precise, synchronized attacks, while one mage focused entirely on blocking and deflecting the Tier 5 zombie’s strikes, using either their shield or a spear swat to repel incoming attacks.
Another mage would be responsible for targeting the zombie’s lower limbs and joints, aiming to cripple its movement, and finally the third mage would be delivering the killing blow straight to the head, taking advantage of the zombie’s weakened stance.
If they were lucky, the Tier 5 zombie would fall before it even hit the ground, however, some Strength-Type Zombies had one of their mutation variations concentrated on their skulls rather than their bodies or claws which is common for strength type 2 zombies, making them much harder to kill.
Against these tougher foes, the mages focused on forcing them to their knees first, as once the creature was immobilized, the trio would strike it together at close range, driving their spears straight into its skull, a much easier target when it wasn’t towering over them.
While the Tier 4 Mages handled the first wave of stray zombies that had broken toward them, the Tier 5 Mages shifted tactics.
Rather than launching more Earth Spears which would have affected their allies too, they opted to another spell instead as they cast the Earthquake Spells toward the advancing second wave of zombies in the distance.
This created unstable terrain, making it difficult for the next wave to push forward while the Tier 4s finished off their current opponents.
Brandon kept a sharp eye on the battlefield, there was no way he would let his team or the Tier 4 team get overwhelmed from facing more zombies than they could handle.
“Arthur, Knight, Endrick, you’re up! Agnes and Sophia, provide support from behind! The rest of the Tier 5 Mages, move forward with the Tier 4s!” Brandon ordered, sending out his special Tier 5 squad.
“Finally, we get to stretch our legs! Let’s go!” Arthur shouted, launching himself forward.
Mid-dash, his body blurred into a streak of silver, sprinting toward the second wave of zombies still struggling against the Earthquake Spell, the others soon rushed in after him, fully prepared for battle as black and green light trailed behind Arthur’s silver light.
Brandon, despite his own eagerness to join the fight, remained in place, leadership had its responsibilities, and he couldn’t afford to just run off.
Alec had emphasized that no matter what happened, the Tier 5 Mages must stay close to the Tier 4 Mages as their survival depended on each other.
The Tier 5 Mages were more versatile and powerful, able to handle stronger enemies and react quickly to changing battle conditions, while the Tier 4 Mages had superior coordination, formations, and numbers, allowing them to support the Tier 5s in any situation where they were overpowered with numbers.
As long as they fought as a team using the assigned spells, they could overcome any hurdle, which was why they were moving side by side.
–
Watching from a distance and seeing the team holding their ground, Alec finally decided it was time to act, he had a strong feeling that someone powerful would be sent after him, but there was no way he was just going to sit and wait for his execution.
“Arrgggh!”
It hadn’t even been thirty seconds since he had that thought when over a thousand zombies came rushing toward his position, seeing such a move, Alec was fully assured that this was the work of the Type 3 Mental Zombie, he had purposely stationed himself alone with only Legion and his unit of cybernetic golems, essentially making himself bait, and it seemed the enemy had taken it.
There was no logical reason why a thousand mid-rank zombies would move toward a single mage, even though Legion and his squad surrounded Alec, they had no life essence that could attract the zombies.
And the life signal of one mage was not enough to lure this many zombies, especially when there were other, more plentiful targets available in front of them, that was why Alec was convinced the Type 3 Mental Zombie was orchestrating this attack.
Alec was trying to make himself appear as weak as possible to make the mental-type zombies underestimate him, and it seemed to be working.
“So, how is it, Number Eight? Any progress?” Alec turned toward Legion’s minion, who had been scanning the battlefield.
“Yeah, there are clear signs indicating that a Type 2 Mental Zombie is leading this thousand-strong horde heading toward us, but just like those hidden in the mid-rank battlefield, there’s no clear shot,” Number Eight reported.
“Master, I believe we also need to consider the possibility that there are at least twenty to twenty-five Tier 6 zombies hidden within that horde, and they’re likely to be exceptionally strong, given that I have already taken down ten of its Tier 6 mutated zombies, there’s no way the Type 3 Mental Zombie wouldn’t have prepared countermeasures if it was truly the one who ordered this Type 2 Mental Zombie to move against you,” Legion stated, once again demonstrating its incredible tactical intelligence.
This was precisely why Alec always relied on it for crucial battle strategies.
“Well, that’s fine by me, in fact, I’d actually prefer it if there were multiple Type 2 Mental Zombies in this horde, that way, we can sever its connection with the mid-rank zombie army even faster after we take care of is minions, either way, let them come. It’s tiring pretending to be a sheep,” Alec said with a grin.
As he lightly tapped the side of his mount, the Shadow Wolf, signalling for it to move forward, as it slowly passed the protective formation that Legion’s unit of cybernetic golems had formed around Alec, but Alec didn’t feel like he needed any protection from the mere thousand zombies that were rushing his way.
Even though he was well aware that there were multiple Tier 6 zombies hidden among them, he was confident that none of them would be leaving this battlefield alive. After commanding his low rank forces to wipe out the entire low-rank battlefield, he had gained a substantial amount of experience points through his percentage share.
While the experience gained from low-rank lifeforms was relatively meager, the Blood Moon War doubled all experience points, making even the smallest amounts significant.

And all this time, he had been channelling his earned experience into two of his golems, Titan and Hive Queen.
However, he ensured that Titan received the lion’s share, as this was not the time or place to trigger an evolution for Hive Queen in the middle of a battlefield.
Now, as he opened his system, he saw the results of his strategic investment, thanks to the transferred experience points, Titan had reached the High Tier 6 golem realm, while Hive Queen had advanced to the Peak Tier 5 golem realm.
This meant he now had three golems capable of reaching the Tier 6 realm with just a little push, however, Alec didn’t want any of them entering evolution mode in the middle of the battlefield, so he immediately cut off their experience intake and redirected it all to himself.
He had been maintaining a stable and strong foundation for a while now, even refusing to rely on pills for cultivation, but at this moment, he could feel it, his body robust and filled to the brim, it was eventually ready for another major breakthrough even to the peak of his current realm.
So now, it was his turn, along with his golems, to hunt down experience points and push himself forward, as he felt he couldn’t afford to be weaker than his own Golems which were making great progress.
As he looked ahead, the horde of zombies had already closed the distance to thirty meters, mere seconds away from reaching him.
“Come out, all of you!” Alec shouted, as the air around him grew noticeably heavier.
