The Golem Mage - Chapter 794
Chapter 794: Before The Chills.
Ever since the battle began, Alec had been analyzing everything, testing his strength against the Tier 7 mutated zombie and understanding the gaps and advantages between them, but now, he felt he had learned enough.
And It was time to go all out.
He dashed forward, closing in on the Agility-type zombie, a move that caught the Mutated zombie completely off guard, as never in its wildest nightmares would it had imagined Alec would challenge it in a battle of speed.
But it was happening, and reacting on instinct, the zombie tried to dash and meet Alec, but the moment it did, its right leg tightened Mid-motion, making it realise that the Hive Queen had made her move again.
Snarling, the zombie turned its gaze toward her, only for the Hive Queen to screech defiantly back.
It took every ounce of willpower for the mutated zombie not to abandon its orders and attack her instead, but this time, it had learned its lesson. Even though it couldn’t see the web strings due to the Hive Queen’s mana having the unique trait of rendering them invisible, it still struck downward, hoping to snap the threads by force.
“Don’t take your eyes off me.”
Alec said before he kicked off the ground, propelling himself forward with a burst of small earth pillars that erupted beneath him, but that wasn’t all, the moment they launched him forward, Alec manipulated the pillars mid-air, causing them to hover beside him as he soared.
Five rectangular-shaped stone pillars flanked his sides, perfectly aligned, twisting his body mid-air, he kicked them one by one, sending them hurtling toward the Agility-type zombie like a barrage of cannonballs.
Fortunately for the Agility-type zombie, it had exerted tremendous force in its legs after failing to cut through the invincible web strings, and that final burst of strength did the job, tearing it free.
However, this was only possible because the web strings had already weakened, as with two of the Hive Queen’s spawns dead and the rest scattered, making them unable to form the proper formation to support their Queen, the bindings were no longer strong enough to hold down a Tier 7 mutated zombie.
But that brief distraction, those few crucial seconds were all Alec needed.
The pillars he had kicked, each infused with a hint of Qi, soared through the air, homing in on the Agility type zombie like missiles.
Letting out strange, distorted sounds, the pillars hurtled forward, but the Agility-type zombie evaded two with ease and swiftly swung its hand to deflect the remaining three, yet, just as it finished dealing with the projectiles, Alec was already closing in.
Twisting mid-air, he used the flames beneath his feet to propel himself into position, then swung his left leg around in a powerful hook kick.
Bang!
A thunderous explosion echoed as Alec’s flame-powered kick slammed into the zombie’s raised left arm, which had shot up in defence, but even that wasn’t enough to fully block the attack.
Alec’s eyes gleamed with intensity, and the flames beneath his feet erupted to an even higher level, pouring more force into his kick and nearly lifting the zombie off its feet.
Refusing to be overpowered, the mutated zombie threw its right hand into the block, reinforcing its defence with both arms, abandoning its casual one-handed combat style it had been doing since.
In an instant, Alec withdrew his leg, using a flame burst beneath his feet to propel himself backward, but as the Agility-type zombie prepared to dash forward, it suddenly realized—
Both of its legs were locked in place again, the golems were trying to frustrate him and they were succeeding.
This time, it wasn’t just the Hive Queen restraining it. Oni had joined in.
His Soul Chain, which is linked to his Reaper-like scythe, had coiled around the zombie’s left leg, and together, they tried to yank it back, but it kept its ground.
“You pests won’t lift me off the ground!” it snarled, slashing its hand toward Alec, sending a massive claw-shaped slash crackling with toxic green flames straight at him.
[> Mid-Tier Spell – Earth Wall <]
The moment Alec’s feet touched the ground from retreating, he cast a defensive earth spell, but this time, instead of forming a wide barrier, he compressed the spell’s energy into a rectangular wall directly in front of him.
Though smaller than usual, the denser concentration of energy ensured that the flaming slash couldn’t break through, a clear adjustment from his earlier mistake, when the mutated zombie had easily shattered his Seven layer Shield.
As Alec pressed his back against the earth wall, green flames erupted from both sides, but the barrier held strong despite the toxic flame, enduring the impact, by the time he emerged from behind the stone wall, he was already issuing another mental command to the Hive Queen.
“Blast his ass.”
She didn’t hesitate, sending two of her Mana-Sucking Spawns which lunged at the Agility-type zombie, trying to sink their fangs into its flesh. But the moment they bit down, their teeth shattered, unable to pierce through its formidable defence.

Realizing they couldn’t drain its Tier 7 mana to amplify their explosions, they self-detonated anyway.
And just like gasoline catching fire, the first explosion set off a chain reaction, the moment one blew up, the rest of the Hive Queen’s spawn followed suit, detonating like dominoes as they reached it.
Meanwhile, amid the chaos, Alec had used this move to obstruct the mutated zombie’s line of sight, granting himself a perfect opening, with a swift motion, he swiped his hand sideways, materializing a double-edged blood scythe attached to a chain that ran from its handle all the way to his elbow.
With a quick tug of the chain, the weapon’s handle snapped into his grip as he assumed his stance.
[> Flame Wheel – First Move – Portal Jump <]
Alec’s left hand ignited with brilliant red flames as he punched the air beside him, instantly, fire runes materialized, spreading in a formation that stretched twenty-six meters around him, within seconds, five massive flaming circles appeared, the first positioned directly beside him.
Each circle blazed with red flames around its perimeter, while the inside remained a pitch-black void, they aligned precisely, all facing the mutated zombie’s position.
But he wasn’t done, Alec raised his left hand, pointing a single finger toward the Agility-type zombie location, and as the dust settled, its figure came into view, standing there, virtually unharmed.
Despite the relentless explosions, the Hive Queen’s spawns had barely scratched it.
A stark reminder of just how untouchable a Tier 7 Mage was to weaker lifeforms, as even if it had stood still and taken every single blast head-on, they still wouldn’t have been able to kill it.
But Alec wasn’t concerned with any of that, he had finally set everything in motion and was ready to follow up with another spell.
Even though he was already splitting his focus to maintain the Flame Wheel spell, he pressed forward.
[> Mid-Tier Spell – x100 Gravity Push <]
The moment Alec cast the spell, the Agility-type zombie which was just about to vanish suddenly felt its body being weighed down, it wasn’t enough to force it to its knees or crush it to the ground, but the pressure was just strong enough to keep it from accelerating and disappearing like before.
With the Flame Wheel’s first form in place and the restrictive gravity spell keeping it locked, Alec dashed straight into the black flaming circle beside him.
The onlookers gasped, but before they could even react, something strange began to unfold, within the twenty-six-meter-wide spell formation, time itself seemed to slow.
As a swift red flash darted around the battlefield, leaving behind a long, burning slash with each movement before vanishing into another flame wheel.
For five full seconds, the battlefield was filled with nothing but red streaks, flashing through the air like phantom blades, by the time the movement stopped, over fifty crimson slashes hung suspended in mid-air.
Even though the Tier 7 mutated zombie was still capable of movement, it was agonizingly slow, completely trapped within the temporal lock of Alec’s spell.
And with Gravity Push weighing it down even further, breaking free became impossible, then, the fire wheels shattered, dissolving into countless fiery particles, revealing Alec twenty-six meters away, now on one knee, arms spread wide, still gripping his scythe.
“Iaidō.”
The moment the words left his mouth, the scythe vanished, and the fifty suspended slashes finally rained down, the Agility-type zombie eyes widening, instinctively it tried to cast its phase skill to escape.
But it wasn’t fast enough.
Over fifty blazing strikes descended all at once, shredding its body into countless slashed pieces.
And the most terrifying part?
Even after the attacks were over, the cuts continued to burn, devouring the zombie’s flesh with relentless, scorching flames.
