The Golem Mage - Chapter 807
Chapter 807: Disagreement 2.
“I believe I made it quite clear that I wouldn’t allow your clan the opportunity to take the corpse, however, in light of your impressive performance in helping the city win, I’ll allow you to take only the corpses of the zombies your clan has slain,” the City Lord said, staring at George Gordon as if waiting for him to object.
But it was Alec who spoke first, stepping out from behind before his grandfather could process what the city lord really wants.
“But the city hall has no use for these corpses, so why go so far to keep us from taking them, especially if you’re all are just going to burn them anyway?” Alec asked.
“Alec, don’t,” the Patriarch said, stepping forward and moving Alec behind him.
Alec, who had dismissed his spirit equipment, stood bare-chested with his kimono draped around his waist not happy with his grandfather’s decision.
“Well, for your information, Gordon’s cub, these corpses were requested by a city hall researcher who wants to experiment on them, so yes, I’ll go to lengths to get them for him, and even after your clan takes its share, it still won’t be enough.”
“ like I said, I’m only allowing this because of your clan’s massive contribution, so don’t take it the wrong way,” the City Lord said to Alec, who was now shielded by George.
Though he was being held back to keep him quiet, but Alec was never the quiet type.
“Gramps!” Alec protested, glaring at his grandfather.
George turned with a stern look, hoping to silence Alec, but it ended up with him caving when he lost the stare-down against Alec.
“Okay… this one’s on you,” the Patriarch said, before stepping aside to let him pass.
“I want to clarify a few things, and I’d like you to answer honestly and accurately, can you do that?” Alec asked.
With the City Lord nodding, as he was feeling in control of the conversation, especially since neither the Patriarch nor the Grand Elder seems interested in interfering.
They were leaving it all to Alec, a member of the younger generation.
And the City Lord believed there was nothing a young mage like Alec could say that would put him in a difficult position, but the Grand Elder, standing quietly alongside the Third and Fourth Elders, couldn’t help but smirk.
As he could already tell that the City Lord was underestimating Alec, and he felt he’d soon regret it.
“You’re claiming that the only reason you’re allowing my clan to take the corpses of the zombies we killed is because of our contribution to this war’s victory, correct?” Alec asked.
“That’s right!” the City Lord answered without hesitation.
“But according to the kingdom’s laws, every clan has the right to the corpses of second-dimensional enemies slain by their members, most clans just exchange them with the city hall for extra military merits because its profitable for them, and usually, only demonic beasts are in high demand by the clans not the humanoid races so mostly these corpses have been exchanged for merits, but races like the zombies which have no value to the kingdom and can harm humans instead are discarded and burnt to prevent virus outbreak, without no extra merits given, so what gives you the authority to act like you’re doing us a favour by releasing what’s already rightfully ours?” Alec pressed on.
“It’s like you’ve forgotten how you came into our home, pleading for our members to join this war, yea I heard about that and now, you’re trying to act like you have control over what we claim, that’s your first mistake.”
At this point, the City Lord was practically gritting his teeth in frustration.
As Alec’s words were sharp, direct, and merciless.
“And secondly, from now on, for every second Dimensional invader slain by our clan, we will no longer hand the bodies over to the city hall, we’ll keep what we kill, and we’re not interested in exchanging them for extra war merit points any longer.”
“The merit points we earn during battle against them are enough,” Alec said, pausing as he turned to face the crowd of mages watching the confrontation between the Gordons and the City Lord.
“Clans of Estonia City, just to remind you all, because I know you’ve probably heard the rumours but maybe didn’t take them seriously, so I’ll say it to your faces this time.”
“A week from today, after you’ve had time to mourn your losses, our clan, the Gordons, will be hosting an auction and I strongly encourage all of you to attend, not only will you see resources you’ve likely never encountered before and have only heard of or read in ancient books records, but you might also walk away with items that could help restore some of your clan lost strength after the war,” Alec announced, arms spread wide.
‘ What a marketer, using the City Lord’s platform to advertise his auction—bold,’ the Grand Elder thought, seeing through Alec’s strategy.
“I know many of you are probably broke right now, and your clans might not even have the funds to compete, and you’re probably wondering how you’ll afford anything if prices get too high. Well…” Alec grinned.
“Let me make it clear, any corpse you possess is currency, the higher the realm, the more valuable it’ll be. On the day of the auction, we’ll announce the conversion rate for each realm you bring, and no questions will be asked about the corpses, as long as they belonged to mages or any lifeform that cultivated.”
“So don’t forget to come to my clan’s auction. Thank you,” Alec finished, turning back to the City Lord, but his statement have already started to brew thoughts in the minds of the clans present.

“I believe my clan is entitled to ninety percent of both the high-rank and low-rank corpses, as for the mid-rank ones, my boys will tally their kills and collect them soon,” he said, then walked toward the pile of low-tier corpses and swiped his right hand over it.
In the next second, over 90% of the corpses vanished into Alec’s spatial ring, though the City Lord would have liked to argue, but after hearing Alec’s earlier words, he realized Alec wasn’t just a skilled fighter and general, he have come to realise Alec was also as cunning as the Grand Elder of the Gordons clan.
He cursed the fact that Alec seemed to possess the traits of both the Gordon Patriarch and the Grand Elder in one.
Arguing now about the low rank zombies would be pointless; the Gordons low rank mages had almost single-handedly wiped out the Low-rank zombies on their own, and even if the other city’s forces and the city guard were credited, their kills likely wouldn’t amount to the ten percent Alec had left behind.
This was one of the few situations he couldn’t bring himself to contest on.
He simply waited for Alec to move on to the mid-rank and high-rank corpses, hoping he’d make a mistake, just one slip up was what he was praying for, as that would give him a reason to punish Alec.
Ironically, he didn’t even realize how petty he’d become under the weight of Alec’s schemes.
