The Golem Mage - Chapter 809
Chapter 809: Disagreement 4.
Everything had happened in an instant, so fast that many of the other mages atop the city gates couldn’t react in time to the Coral Clan mage’s transformation.
Fortunately, Alec had been keeping an eye on him and, the moment he noticed the situation spiralling out of control, gave the immediate order to eliminate the threat.
If they had allowed the transformation to complete, the mages atop the city walls would have been vulnerable to a surprise attack, though the creature would’ve eventually been taken down, but it would have had enough time to infect others, especially since most of the mages on the wall were only Tier 3.
The only exception were the other three infected human mages, who were currently too weak to fight as they focused on gathering mana now that the virus in their bodies had been temporarily restricted.
But after witnessing what happened to the Coral Clan mage, they quickly realized an important truth: although the healing pills could suppress the virus, they didn’t kill it, and that meant the virus was still alive in the infected body part and any attempt to remove or interfere with it was like triggering a bomb.
They all felt a surge of relief for learning this lesson now, as if they had attempted such a thing back inside their clan estates, the outcome would’ve been far more disastrous, as not only would they have turned, but they could’ve also infected numerous members of their clans before being stopped.
The result? Their own actions would’ve led to weakening their families, since the only way to stop an infected mage was to behead them before the transformation completed.
And none of the high-ranking mages present wanted that blood on their hands, the mere thought of being the cause of such destruction in their clans made them feel like sinners.
As everyone was still processing the loss of another high-rank mage from Estonia City, Tempest Butcher kicked the Coral Clan mage’s body and severed head off the wall, and Alec swiped through the air, and in one smooth motion, to collect the remains into his space ring.
“What do you think you’re doing, ALEC GORDONS?!” the city lord roared, his voice echoing across the battlefield as he realized Alec had just taken the Coral Clan mage’s corpse.
“Oh, this?, I’m just recouping my losses, you see, this man owed the Gordons Clan a debt he never paid before he died. Now that he’s gone, we’ll compensate ourselves with his corpse, Normally, I wouldn’t bother with such things, but since his clan can’t bury him in their grounds because of the virus in his body, I’ll go through the trouble of handling it. In return, his debt is considered paid.” Alec replied casually.
“How can you say such a thing?! You’re treating the corpse of a proud human mage of Estonia City like one of those zombies. What do you even intend to do with his body?” the city lord snapped, pretending to defend the Coral Clan mage’s honour. But Alec could see right through him, the question wasn’t about dignity.
The city lord was simply desperate to know what the Gordons wanted with the corpses.
Unfortunately for him, he was asking the wrong person.
“Well, isn’t it obvious? I’ll give him a proper cleanse, burn the remains, and bury the ashes, just consider it the Gordons’ problem now,” Alec replied with a shrug.
“And you expect me to believe that?” the city lord challenged.
Alec didn’t bother replying, he merely shrugged again, as far as he was concerned, his business here was finished, there was no reason for him or any member of the Gordons Clan to remain.
All his golems had reached the peak of Tier 5, now, they just needed a little push to ascend into Tier 6.
Alec even sensed that his fire affinity was ready to enter the manipulation stage, and he felt confident that, with the combined efforts of his golems hunting in the Beast Forest, he would easily break into the Tier 6 mage realm.
After all, the golems would be much stronger after undergoing their evolution, and with so much thoughts on his plate now, Alec had no interest in worrying about the city lord’s opinions or engaging in further arguments with him.
“I repeat, I won’t allow you to leave here with the body of the Coral Clan mage, only members of the Coral Clan are entitled to take that corpse from this place. I don’t care if your golem was responsible for his death; I have made my stance clear.” With those words, the city lord unleashed his Tier 8 mage aura, clearly intending to use this as an excuse to attack.
Alec swiftly turned as he felt an overbearing aura heading towards him, but before the aura could reach him, his grandfather and the Grand Elder were already by his side, both releasing their auras as well.
Together, they were able to neutralize the city lord’s pressure, ensuring that Alec remained unaffected, in George’s left hand was a tachi in an orange-coloured scabbard, a longer version of a katana with a more pronounced curve. Instead of the typical round hilt of a katana, this tachi had a square pommel.
Meanwhile, the Grand Elder gripped his walking cane with both hands, slightly drawing it to reveal a blade beneath.
This was the first time Alec had seen his grandfather wielding a tachi, and it dawned on him that the Grand Elder’s walking cane was actually a weapon in disguise. Realizing that they had gone to such lengths meant that the situation had deteriorated far more than he had anticipated. Alec didn’t want things to escalate this way; he knew his grandfather and the elders would do anything to fight on behalf of the younger generation, especially for him, whom they regarded as the future leader of the clan.
But Alec wasn’t ready to steer his clan down such a dangerous path, not yet. Despite his grandfather’s strength, he knew the Gordons’ individual power wasn’t enough to take on the City Hall.
There was no way the City Hall would act alone; they would surely rally other clans with long-standing grudges against the Gordons, forcing them to face multiple enemies at once, a move like that could lead to the clan’s downfall.
