Alec was slowly opening his eyes from whatever trance the heart of fire had drawn him into, but what greeted him was an entirely different sensation.

The first thing he noticed were the notifications flooding his system interface, each one confirming a string of changes he could feel in his very being, even without fully reading them, he could immediately sense the overwhelming, destructive strength coursing through his body.

He wasn’t sure if this was how any newly advanced Tier 6 mage was supposed to feel, but he felt absurdly overpowered, and it wasn’t just the stat increases showing on his system panel… everything about him felt like it had broken through alongside him.

He could now see elemental particles drifting clearly through the air, and when he casually waved a hand, a burst of flames spontaneously ignited in his palm, startled by how effortlessly it happened, he quickly extinguished it, realising his control over fire was still crude compared to his earth manipulation.

Though Alec knew that he hadn’t yet spent enough time mastering his earth manipulation either, especially with how it just stepped into the second Stage, which came with two distinct sub-abilities to control, but fortunately he was adapting faster than expected.

He suspected that much of this progress was a courtesy of being the system’s host, however, the system spirit doesn’t feel that way and disagreed with him, because it firmly believed that things like evolving one’s affinity weren’t something the system could just hand out without the natural talent to back it.

Yes, the system may have helped him bypass years of training by boosting his mana capacity to meet the requirement of a stage two manipulation early, but some things, like affinity awakening, couldn’t be forced without the right innate gift.

The system had made it possible for him to bypass those long, gruelling years of training, though it didn’t do it for free as it had come at a cost. Alec had paid a hefty sum of system points to ease the integration of elemental manipulation controls into his body.

The System points payment served as a currency for acquiring rare resources that should help mitigate the intense pain that came with such rapid advancements.

Yet even with all that, it still hurt, and obtaining these new elemental sub abilities controls didn’t mean Alec had instantly become a master.

Far from it, because without prior experience, he would have to build his mastery from scratch, learning to wield his power with precision and intent.

It was like asking a lifelong right-handed person to suddenly start doing everything with their left hand, sure, the left could manage, but it would never be as natural or efficient until properly trained.

So right now, Alec’s elemental control was that left-handed novice, capable, but awkward.

Over time, as he becomes better integrated with his elemental manipulation, it wouldn’t matter as he’d eventually command them at full capacity with ease.

The reason his fire manipulation felt weaker than his earth wasn’t just because he awakened the earth element first, it was because his flames were naturally wild, and since he was lacking refined control over them right now it drastically reduced their potential damage, so until he learned to rein them in, his output would remain unstable.

Fortunately, it seemed his flames could somehow sense their master’s unease, as they flickered out on their own, sparing him from accidentally setting his home ablaze. Alec sighed in relief.

It would’ve been a cruel irony, especially since he’d gone out of his way to break through inside the amulet’s space to avoid drawing attention or damaging the home he’d come to cherish.

He’d planned to reveal his advancement in dramatic fashion to shock his cousins, and burning his house down would have ruined everything.

But now, looking around properly, he realised something unsettling, he wasn’t in the amulet world anymore, and he had no idea how that happened.

His first instinct was to check his space pouch and make sure his golems were with him, not still trapped somewhere in the Beast Forest.

Crack!

As Alec leaned on a nearby table for support, the entire thing splintered and collapsed into several pieces.

“Oops,” he muttered in surprise, realizing he was still struggling to get a handle on his strength, deciding not to risk breaking anything else, he shifted focus and extended his mental sense into the pouch.

To his surprise, it was far easier now, unlike before where he used to feel a slight strain whenever using his mental powers, it now felt almost effortless.

“Phew,” Alec sighed in relief after confirming all his golems were safe inside the pouch, he didn’t even bother checking if they’d hunted properly — that could wait.

Right now, what mattered was sorting through the flood of system notifications waiting for him.

Meanwhile, the stiffness in his body was fading, and he was adapting to his strength much faster than expected, it was likely thanks to the incredibly sturdy foundation he’d been steadily building, consolidating bit by bit with every cultivation pill he consumed and the battle situations he had put himself in.
