The Golem Mage - Chapter 829
Chapter 829: Auction 3.
The second female mage who had moved backstage earlier now rolled out another table, this time two tables interlocked together to prevent them from separating, one of the tables was empty, while the other was covered in a dark cloth, immediately making many in the crowd realize that was the second item of the day hidden beneath it.
As the female mages reached the center, she and the first lady who had remained on stage with Alec began transferring the newly purchased armour, won by the black-clothed man onto the empty table.
Once they were done, they placed the new item on the new empty stone pillar.
Afterward, the first lady rolled the armour offstage while the crowd waited eagerly for the unveiling of the second item.
“Well, in this situation, I’ll go straight to the point and not keep you all in suspense,” Alec said as he started walking toward the stone pillar. However, despite his words, there were many in the crowd who didn’t believe him.
Because as he was observing some people in the crowd, some sharp-eyed observers had already started to study Alec’s behaviour also and noticed just how much he enjoyed being in control.
They realized that the way he had been keeping the crowd under his influence was by carefully orchestrating suspense and even fuelling the competitive spirit, especially a while earlier in the bidding war between the black-robed man and the Darkbliss Patriarch.

“This boy is far craftier than I thought,” Bailey Lanzt muttered from his seat.
Like the City Hall representatives and the Darkbliss Clan, he too had been given one of the five VIP booths positioned above the auction floor, watching everything unfold from upstairs.
“Father, do you understand the meaning behind the Darkbliss Clan’s actions? I expected them to fight harder for that armour, but that old man gave up without much struggle, that’s not something many of us expected, especially since I believe they still had enough corpses to keep bidding if they wanted to,” the Lanzt Patriarch said quickly, noticing his father was about to start praising Alec again.
He deliberately steered the conversation away from Alec, he was feeling guilty enough already for having offended Alec who clearly now seems to hold significant influence within the Gordons clan, so hearing his people constantly talk about Alec’s achievements was starting to haunt him.
“What do you know?” Bailey Lanzt said, shaking his head.
“This is just the start of the auction. It’s clear even the Darkbliss Patriarch doesn’t want to overspend before the final item is revealed, or have you forgotten how much effort the Gordons put into making sure all the clans with infected mages showed up today?, there is definitely something special”
The Lanzt Patriarch looked at his father in surprise, as if he was only now starting to catch on.
“I think most of the clans here have underestimated the value of what the Gordons have prepared as their final item,” Bailey continued.
“They didn’t bring many high-quality corpses, mostly just zombie ones, because they have no value, but after seeing what was up for grabs in the first round, I’m sure they’ve all changed their perception, now they’ll be far more cautious with their bids, not wanting to exhaust their resources before the final item is revealed.”
As Bailey concluded, those around him nodded in understanding.
Meanwhile, in the fifth VIP booth sat the Gordons elders, the Patriarch, and even Terran.
Though Alec had given him more than enough reason to return to the academy, however Terran had found a strange sense of peace here, which made him decide to stay a few extra days,
And he ended up learning about the Gordons’ auction, and quickly made up an excuse to remain just to witness it first-hand.
Even now, Alec didn’t know what to do about his master, who spent most of his days drinking wine with the Third elder, so, he simply let him be. But today, Terran hadn’t touched a single sip, instead, he was focused, vividly watching how Alec controlled the crowd.
After witnessing the first armour being auctioned away, Terran realized he now had even more information to report to Old Man Alderic, enough to make the old man want to tighten their relationship with the Gordons and find a way to start securing spirit armour for their side, just like the pills.
If before it was only speculation that the Gordons had an unregistered Master Forger, now Terran was convinced it was no mere rumour.
He felt Someone within the Gordons Clan clearly had the skill to craft such high-level spirit equipment, what baffled him now was how corpses alone could be enough to cover the cost of these creations.
It wasn’t that the corpses lacked the original value, but Terran knew first-hand that forging spirit armour required more, rare metals, precious ores, and other expensive materials.
Likewise, in alchemy, creating pills needed more than beast parts; it required herbs that matched specific pill recipes, so he couldn’t quite understand why the Gordons only asked for corpses and not magic crystals as well.
After all, it wasn’t like every business partner they dealt with would be willing to use corpses as their currency.
This lingering thought refused to leave his mind.
“Haa… such disturbing thoughts,” Terran muttered under his breath, reflecting on how the War God Mage Academy would never run out of corpses, if they made a rule for their students to always bring back corpses for entering the second Dimension portal, after all they were constantly fighting battles at the dimensional portals which was guided by them.

Now, he was worried that if corpses became a compulsory resource to bring back to the academy, it might raise a lot of eyebrows, especially since it was becoming clear that, if they wanted to continue doing business with the Gordons, they would need a steady influx of bodies to pay with.
And they couldn’t keep relying on the corpses they had stored from the past, from now on, they would have to ensure that no one casually left corpses lying forgotten inside the second dimension but their space rings.
Corpses were about to become a rare and precious commodity, all because of the Gordons’ unique choice of medium for trade.

In the five VIP booths above the auction hall, seating had been given to those the Gordons deemed worthy of their respect and courtesy. The recipients were the representatives of the city hall, the Lanzt Clan, the Darkbliss Clan, the Coral Clan, and finally, the Gordons themselves in the last booth.
Though the Gordons had distributed the booths this way, it didn’t reflect the true order of strength within Estonia City.
Even so, many were unhappy, especially seeing clans like the Coral and Lanzt Clans enjoy such privileges.
The Raiza Clan, for instance, had to sit among the regular round tables, with their new Patriarch kept casting resentful glances toward the fifth VIP booths, his face dark with suppressed anger.
‘Just you all wait. I’ll make sure this auction doesn’t end well,’ the Raiza Patriarch thought to himself bitterly.
