THE HEIRESS VOW - Chapter 190
Chapter 190: The Last Stand
The air in the Abyss crackled with tension, a palpable sense of doom clinging to the desolate landscape. Ava’s breath was ragged, her body trembling as her knees threatened to give way beneath her. She stood, barely able to lift her sword, its weight no longer just physical but emotional, a burden she felt down to her very core. The darkness swirled around her, closing in like a predator stalking its prey, merciless and unrelenting.
Across from her, the entityâthe twisted, grotesque reflection of herselfâsmirked with cold disdain, its eyes gleaming with triumph. Every mocking taunt, every venomous word it had thrown at her, had sunk deep, leaving wounds far worse than any physical blow could. Ava could feel the despair wrapping itself around her heart, dragging her into the depths of hopelessness.
“You’re finished, Ava,” the entity sneered, its voice slithering through the air like poison. “This is where you fall. This is where you always fall.”
Ava clenched her jaw, but her strength was waning. Every word the entity spoke felt like another chain, tightening, pulling her deeper into the darkness she could no longer escape. Alone. That word echoed again, bouncing off the jagged cliffs of her mind. She was alone. Always alone.
But just as she felt the last sliver of her will slipping away, a force shattered the oppressive silence of the Abyss. A surge of power, fierce and untamed, blasted through the air, tearing at the very fabric of the void. Ava’s heart lurched in her chest as she turned, her gaze locking with the source of that power.
It was him.
The male leadâthe man whose presence had been a whisper in her mind, a distant memory, a fading hopeâstood before her, breaking through the last barrier of the Abyss like a storm unleashed. His eyes, blazing with determination, found hers across the battlefield. For a moment, time seemed to still. The shadows recoiled as if they, too, recognized the gravity of this moment.
“Ava!” His voice, strong and unwavering, cut through the cacophony of the Abyss like a lifeline. He surged forward, his gaze never leaving hers.
The entity hissed, its form flickering with fury as it darted between them. “You dare interfere?” it shrieked, its voice filled with a venomous rage. “She is mine!”
With a roar, the entity lunged at the male lead, its form twisting into a nightmarish blur of shadows and teeth. But he was ready. His sword clashed against the creature’s dark tendrils, sparks flying as the force of their collision sent shockwaves through the Abyss.
The ground beneath Ava’s feet trembled violently, cracks forming as the very landscape of the Abyss began to unravel. She could feel the chaos erupting around her, the instability of the void mirroring the turmoil within her heart. The male lead was fighting for her, risking everything to reach her, and yet she was frozen, paralyzed by the weight of her own fear and guilt.
“You will fail him, too,” the entity’s voice slithered through the chaos, even as it struggled against the male lead’s onslaught. “Just like you failed everyone else.”
Ava’s breath caught in her throat. The memories crashed over her like a tidal waveâthe child she couldn’t save, the lives lost because she wasn’t strong enough. The entity’s words, sharp as blades, tore at her soul, and for a moment, she believed them. She had failed before. Why would this be any different?
The male lead’s voice broke through her spiraling thoughts, his tone raw with urgency. “Ava! You’re stronger than this!”
But was she? Could she really believe that after everything? The entity’s mocking laughter echoed in her ears, a cruel reminder of her failures.
“Look at him,” the entity sneered, its voice dripping with malice as it dodged the male lead’s attacks. “He’s fighting for you, and for what? He’ll fall, Ava. Just like the others. And you will be alone again.”
The wordâaloneâstruck her like a physical blow. It was her greatest fear, the one truth she had always tried to bury. The ground beneath her cracked wider, the Abyss threatening to swallow her whole, just as it had swallowed her hope.
And then, it happened.
The male lead faltered. The entity struck, its dark tendrils wrapping around him like chains, tightening with brutal force. He gasped, blood spraying from his mouth as he crumpled to the ground. His sword fell from his hand, clattering uselessly against the jagged stones.
“No!” Ava’s voice was a scream, raw and filled with anguish as she watched him fall. Her heart shattered as she saw the life slipping from him, his body broken and limp on the battlefield. She couldn’t lose him. Not him. Not now. The thought of his absence, of a world where he no longer existed, was more than she could bear.
Something inside her snapped. The flicker of light that had been so faint before blazed into a roaring fire. Her fear, her guilt, her despairâthey all melted away, replaced by something fierce, something unstoppable. She couldn’t let him die. She wouldn’t.
With a guttural cry, Ava surged forward, her body moving with a strength she didn’t know she had. The sword in her hand, once heavy and cumbersome, now felt like an extension of her will. Power crackled around her, wild and electric, as she charged toward the entity.
The entity’s eyes widened in shock as Ava’s blade slashed through the air, glowing with an otherworldly light. The darkness recoiled, but Ava was relentless, her attacks swift and brutal. The ground shook with the force of her strikes, the Abyss crumbling further as her power tore through the void.
“You think you can stop me?” the entity howled, its voice shrill with desperation as it struggled to maintain its form. “You think you can defeat yourself?”
Ava’s eyes burned with a fierce determination as she drove the entity back, her voice steady, unwavering. “I’m not fighting you,” she said, her voice low and resolute. “I’m fighting for him. I’m fighting for us.”
The entity screeched in fury, but its form was flickering now, unstable, unraveling with each of Ava’s blows. The once suffocating shadows were retreating, the darkness no longer able to hold its grip on her.
With one final, devastating strike, Ava plunged her sword into the heart of the entity, the blade slicing through the darkness like a bolt of lightning. The entity let out a final, agonized scream as it shattered into a million pieces, disintegrating into the void.
For a moment, there was silence.
Ava stood, panting, her sword still raised as the last remnants of the entity dissolved into nothingness. The Abyss around her was crumbling, the once oppressive landscape collapsing in on itself. But none of that mattered. Her gaze was fixed on one thing.
Him.

Ava rushed to his side, her heart racing as she knelt beside him. His face was pale, his breathing shallow, and blood stained his clothes. Her hands shook as she reached for him, her fingers brushing against his cheek.
“Please,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Don’t leave me.”
There was no response. His eyes were closed, his body still. Ava’s chest tightened with a pain so intense it felt like she was being ripped apart from the inside. She couldn’t lose him. Not after everything they had been through. Not now, when she had finally found the strength to fight.
Tears filled her eyes, spilling down her cheeks as she cradled his head in her lap. The power that had surged through her moments ago now felt distant, fading, leaving her with only the cold, crushing weight of despair.
The Abyss was collapsing around them, the ground cracking and shifting beneath her feet. But Ava didn’t care. All that mattered was him. All that mattered was the faint hope that he would open his eyes, that he would look at her and tell her everything would be okay.
But he didn’t move.
Ava’s heart shattered. The victory, the power, the fightâit all felt meaningless now. She had saved herself, but she hadn’t been able to save him. And now, she was alone. Again.
A sudden burst of energy crackled in the air, drawing Ava’s attention. She looked up, her tears blurring her vision, to see the last remnants of the entity’s power swirling in the distance. But something was different. The energy wasn’t chaotic or dark. It was… calm. Soft. Like a whisper of hope.
And then, in the midst of the swirling light, she heard it.
His voice.
“Ava…”
Her breath hitched. She looked down, her heart pounding in her chest.
His eyes fluttered open.
“Ava,” he whispered, his voice weak but alive.
Relief flooded through her, so overwhelming that she almost couldn’t breathe. She pressed her forehead against his, tears streaming down her face.
“You’re not alone,” he whispered, his hand weakly reaching up to brush her cheek.
She nodded, her voice choked with emotion. “I know.”
The Abyss continued to collapse around them, but in that moment, Ava didn’t care. They had won. Together.
But as she held him, as the world crumbled around them, she couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t over. Not yet.
The battle had been won, but the war
