Chapter 100: [100 – Marriage: A Beginning or an End?]
After years, laughter echoed in the halls of Seraphina’s mansion. True, genuine, beautiful, and happy laughter. Both Elijah and Seraphina were not able to contain in the excitement and the happiness of their decision of getting married today.
They were sitting on the bed enjoying the breakfast that Elijah had made while talking about the things that they need to do to register their marriage and get the certificate on the same day while smiling and laughing constantly.
Though Elijah’s excitement and joy was completely about getting married to the woman he loves so deeply and irrevocably, Seraphina’s, on the other hand, also derived from the fact that she would now be able to actually and physically infiltrate the enemy’s camp and watch their downfall directly, enjoying every moment of it.
She was especially delighted about the choice of witnesses for their court marriage. Seraphina had picked Jaxon for obvious reasons. She could not have Asher or Madison be the witness for her. While Elijah had not decided yet but he certainly wanted Marcus to be the witness for him.
Oh, how fun it would be if Marcus actually comes there and signs the certificate as their witness. The act would be no less than signing his own death warrant.
After breakfast, Seraphina went to take a shower while Elijah called his father to tell him that he was getting married to Seraphina, hoping that he would be a witness for their court marriage.
“Hey Dad!” Elijah greeted nervously as Marcus answered his call. He was in the living room, pacing back and forth during the call.
“Elijah! Son, where are you. Is everything alright? Are you okay?” asked Marcus, his voice sounding worried and was laced with concern for his son.
Elijah smiled, “I am fine, Dad. I am at Seraphina’s place right now. Actually -” he drawled, taking a pause before continuing, “Actually I wanted to inform you, assuming that I have your permission, that I have decided to get married to Seraphina.”
There was a pause of a few seconds before Marcus spoke, “So you proposed her, huh?” his voice held a hint of relief that went unnoticed because of how nervous Elijah was, “I believe that she said yes. I am happy for you son.” he did sound genuinely happy about it.
Elijah chuckled nervously, he was glad that his father approved of their marriage but he still needed to tell him that the said marriage was happening today only, “Actually, that is not it, Dad.”
“What? Did you make her pregnant or something?” chuckled Marcus causing Elijah to deny the statement quickly, “No! That is not what it is.” he exclaimed in a slightly high pitched sound, “Actually, what I wanted to tell you is that I am getting married to her, today. Like, in the next few hours.”
“What?!” as Elijah had expected, Marcus responded to his announcement with a loud shout of surprise, “What are you saying? I know that we can arrange for everything within a few hours but son that is not the way I want my eldest son to get married. How about arranging a engagement part first, let’s announce it to the world that Marcus Grayson’s eldest son is getting married.”
“What’s the rush to get married?” questioned Marcus.
“Dad,” Elijah fidgeted with the hem of his shirt, “you know that I am not into making huge declarations and all these parties and stuff. I barely tolerate them. I do not want my marriage to be a public affair.” he spoke in a firm yet gentle voice.
“I want it to be only about us; about Seraphina and I. That’s it.” explained Elijah, “I am happy with a small, personal and private ceremony, I do not want something grand and I am sure that Seraphina doesn’t want it either.”
“Dad, I know that this came out too sudden and it is a lot for marriage is a big step in a relationship, a huge commitment. But believe me, we are totally ready for this. She is the one, Dad, and I do not want to spend another day without her.”
Marcus listened to his son attentively, his words confirming that Elijah was nothing like him or Ethan. He was like his grandfather, a gentleman with morals who believed in hope and always walked on the path of truth and chose to work hard to earn and achieve what they wanted.
Elijah was different and sometimes Marcus did not appreciate that difference because it was the sole reason that he had to keep certain aspects of his life a secret from his son and always live in the fear that one day when Elijah would come to know about his true colors, then he would hate him.
And Marcus could not handle that. Apart from money and power, his family was his top priority. Neither he can afford losing them nor would he let them leave him. That is why, Marcus rarely said no to his family’s demands. Today, if Elijah wants to get married to Seraphina in a simple, court ceremony, then he will allow it.
“Huh.” Marcus sighed before saying, “Fine! You have my permission.”
Elijah jumped up, raising his arms in celebration, “Yes! Thank you, Dad!” he exclaimed, a wide grin spreading across his face. The relief and excitement was evident in his voice, and the nervous tension that had caused his body to stiffen, seemed to dissolve in an instant.
“By the way, Dad, would you and Mom come to the registrar’s office to sign as the witnesses for our marriage?” asked Elijah hoping for a positive answer.
“Just let me know the time, and I would be there along with your mother.” responded Marcus causing Elijah to ump up in extreme joy.
“Thank you Dad, thank you so much! Yes!” it was becoming hard for Elijah to contain in his happiness and joy.
Marcus could feel his son’s happiness from his voice even though they were not in the same room, “You better tell your mother about this son, or else she would have both of us in a chokehold and might actually kill us for not telling her.” he laughed while Elijah’s eyes widened in realization for what his father said was true.
“I don’t have a problem in telling her by myself, but I think you should do it.” suggested Marcus.
“I will just call her now! Bye, Dad! Thank you so much, and Dad, I love you!” Elijah was not the ones to shy away from expressing his feelings.
“Love you too, son.” responded Marcus before ending the call.
After that, Elijah immediately called up his mother and informed her of his decision to get married to Seraphina the same day. His mother, Katherine, responded the same was as Marcus had much to Elijah’s relief and joy. After informing his parents, Elijah called Margaret next and told her to quickly arrange for an appointment with the registrar for him and Seraphina to get married and have their certificate on the same day.

Elijah told Margaret to use any legal measures that she knew of to make it fast and get an appointment at the earliest. Though his secretary responded to him in positive, but instead of fixing an appointment she called Seraphina.

When Madison got to know about Elijah and Seraphina’s plan of getting married today, she could not believe it at all. Though she now knew that Elijah was an innocent person and he had no part in any criminal activity but he was still Marcus Grayson’s son.
She was aware of the fact that Seraphina had planned to get married to Elijah which is why she had set out a love trap from him. Seraphina wished to use this marriage to infiltrate the enemy’s camp and destroy them from within. But that plan was set a little late in the timeline.
Seraphina had other plans that she had decided to implement to draw out the sufferings of her enemies. But the revelations about Elijah seemed to have changed everything.
They still had not revealed to the public the report about that low grade construction material that was being used in that government project of creating homes for the poor people. Seraphina had planned several other things before getting married to Elijah but now the marriage plan seemed to have gained priority and was being initiated before its set time.
Madison wanted to confirm this with Seraphina. She wanted to hear from Seraphina as to why she was doing this. She sent a quick message to Asher informing him about Seraphina’s plans before dialing her number.
