Chapter 104: [104 – The Preperation]
About fifteen minutes after Elijah had left, Seraphina had blow dried her hair, styling them in simple, loose waves. She was later going to put on a bejeweled hair band that Gina was bringing along her dress. In the meantime, Seraphina chose to create a soft and subtle make up look for herself that would make her look like a sweet, innocent, and blushing bride, hiding away her true intentions.
But before that, she chose to give Asher and Madison a call and tell them about her reason for getting married to Elijah. She wanted to tell them that no matter what she feels for Elijah, that would never be able to come between her and her mission.
She wanted to tell that that yes, she did like the man that she was marrying but he ranked a little low on her priority list. But the moment she picked up her cell phone, repeating those same things in her mind, like one would do with the speech that they have to give in front of a whole assembly pf people, Seraphina could not go through the call.
It took a her a few seconds to realize that she was being too defensive about this situation, that there was no need for her to prove her loyalty towards her mission. Asher and Madison were being unreasonable. They were right to question her about her feelings but they had no right to ask her if she was marrying Elijah this soon, changing up her plans because she was in love with him.
‘No!’ she thought, her brows draw together in a frown.
‘Not yet, maybe!’ she heard a small voice at the back of her mind but Seraphina did not pay heed to it.
Instead, she cut the call before Asher and Madison could answer it, instead, she left them both a message;
I know it might look like it but that is not true.
I like him, yes. I want to live with him, like a happy family and all, yes.
But that is not possible and you know it.
Also, no matter what I feel for me, it is not going to stop me from taking revenge.
It is not because of my feelings for him that preponed this but because I want to bring justice to my family as soon as possible.
Once she was done typing the text, Seraphina smiled, proud at herself and then placed her cell phone aside as she begun doing her own make up. She carefully applied foundation to her flawless skin, following it with a touch of blush on her cheeks that would create an illusion of a natural flush.
She chose a soft pink colored lipstick for it would not only complement the rest of her make up and the dress that she had chosen to wear but it would also add to the innocence that she intended to project.
She worked on her eyeliner with precision, imagining how fun it would be when she would slice every inch of her enemies skin, causing them to bleed through multiple wounds and preferably have their eyes dug out as well.
Seraphina applied a thin stroke of the eyeliner, making her eyes look bigger, giving her that bright eyed bride look. The emotions in her eyes, however, told a different story – sharp, determined, and unyielding.
While she thought about her enemies, the memories of Elijah also filled her mind. He was everything that she had not expected him to be. He was kind, considerate, and surprisingly genuine. Thank God that it was his grandfather who raised him to be a man of morals, if Elijah had grown up with Marcus around, he would have turned out to be just as corrupt and evil.
Elijah was something that she had not planned for, the affection that she felt towards him was as genuine as his feelings for her. Even though it was something that could complicate her meticulously crafted plans which Asher and Madison feared. But Seraphina was a master of compartmentalization. Elijah was a piece on the chessboard, an important one and the one that she was quite attached to, but still just a piece.
If she was the Queen that he was her King that she wanted to protect but that does not mean that she was not going to use him to protect her Kingdom, have it, and rule it. They would fight their disputes later but right now, she needed to use him and make him do her bidding.
Seraphina finished her makeup with a light dusting of translucent powder, setting everything in place. The mirror reflected back a vision of purity, a bride to be who seemed untouched by the darkness that had shaped her. But Seraphina knew better. The woman in the mirror was a carefully constructed façade, a mask she wore to hide the storm brewing inside her.
Seraphina picked up her cell phone and clicked a selfie. She wanted to keep the picture with her as a reminded of how she had looked like while going into the battlefield. All ready and prepared while looking like a true queen who not only knew how to look pretty but rule her kingdom and protect it as well even if it meant to establish relations with the enemy itself.
A knock at the door was what that snapped Seraphina out of her thoughts and brought her back to the reality. She lowered her hand and placed the cell phone aside after making sure that it was locked, “Come in.” she said and the door opened. Gina entered, carrying a garment bag along with a shoe box and two boxes of jewelry one of which contained the bejeweled hair band.
“Everything is ready, ma’am. Are you?,” Gina asked with a warm smile. She was the only person who never doubted her intentions and actions. Gina had always been by her side like a solid rock, supporting her in all of her plan and actions. She never judged Seraphina which is why Gina was not only her secretary and another someone who she had promised revenge but she was a true friend to her as well.
Seraphina nodded, accepting the items that she was carrying. “Thank you, Gina.” she smiled and hesitated before asking, “Are you not going to ask me about why I am doing this?”
Gina only smiled in return and began unzipping the garment bag, “I trust you, and where there is trust, there is no need for any questions.” she pulled the dress out of the bag while Seraphina removed her bathrobe and stepped into the dress.
As Gina helped Seraphina zip up the white satin dress with a fit and flare silhouette, the latter said, “I am glad that I have your trust but I have been questioned that I might have pushed up the timeline just for the sake of my groom. What do you think?”
Zipped up, Seraphina ran her hands over the corset like bodice of her dress, that featured a sweetheart neckline, accentuating her décolletage while Gina replied, “I know you and if you have taken this decision of getting married to Mr. Elijah Grayson then there must be a reason for that.”
Gina helped Seraphina tie the thick shoulder straps into bows at the top of her shoulder and added, “I believe you and I think that whatever you would do would only be for the best of all of us. It doesn’t matter what others think and if in case I ever noticed that you are going astray, I am going to come and pull you on the right path again.” though Gina chuckled making Seraphina laugh but she knew that this was not a joke but a promise and that is why Seraphina had felt lucky to have Gina as her secretary and friend.
“Thank you, Gina, for helping me with the dress and all, and for trusting me as well.” Seraphina replied, her voice soft yet firm, “I will finish up here. Also, even though Jaxon is coming to be a witness, would you also like to be one and sign my marriage certificate?”
“Of course.” Gina replied with a smile before leaving the room.

Once Gina was gone, Seraphina sighed and smoothed her hands over the skirt of the dress that flared out from the waist in a voluminous, A-line shape, giving it a playful and elegant vibe. She wore the headband and pinned up a few loose strands of hair before opening the other box and wearing the dainty pendant necklace that matched well with her outfit,
She walked over to where the body length mirror was in her walk-in close and stared at her reflection in it. This was it. The beginning of the ultimate destruction phase of her plan. Smirking, she wore her heels and with a final glance at her reflection, Seraphina squared her shoulders and walked towards the door.
Today, she would play the role of a loving bride, but tomorrow, the game would begin in earnest. And she would make sure that everyone who had wronged her family paid dearly for their sins.
