Chapter 107: [107 – Just One Day]
Seraphina took Elijah to her cabin, ignoring the whispers that flowed around them, leaving all of her employees in shock and giving them something to gossip about. Though she wanted to show it to everybody that she happily married and totally in love with her new husband. But unlike all the other times, she did not have to pretend that she was happy, or act like she had feelings for Elijah.
She pulled her new husband inside her cabin, and called up Gina to get the set of bands that she had designed but have not released for the public yet. Gina, who had come back to the office after signing Seraphina and Elijah’s marriage certificate as a witness, was slightly surprised after the call but did not think about it much.
Meanwhile, Seraphina sat on her chair while Elijah grabbed the one that was placed on the opposite side of the desk and pulled it closer to Seraphina’s chair.
As he sat on the chair, Seraphina pushed herself away from him in a playful way, giggling as she created the distance between the two of them, teasing Elijah.
Seraphina’s laughter filled the cabin, a sound so genuine that it surprised even her. Elijah grinned, his eyes gleaming with a mix of affection and mischief. “You can’t escape me that easily.” he teased, leaning forward, his hand brushing against hers.
Gina entered the room, her expression a mix of curiosity and amusement. The moment Elijah was found innocent, each of Seraphina’s allies, and the ones who worked for her and with her were informed of the fact and were told that they were not allowed to cause an innocent person harm.
Though Gina did not know Elijah well and on a personal level, but she could see that his feelings for Seraphina were genuine. She did have doubts about Seraphina’s feelings though because her boss was a cryptic, enigmatic woman who is hard to understand. Seraphina can be predictable at times, but those times were quite rare and only those who knew her closely would be able to decipher that.
“Well, aren’t you two just the perfect picture of newlyweds?” she remarked, her tone light, but Seraphina knew Gina well enough to detect the subtle hint of probing in her words. Seraphina smirked knowing that Gina too must have detected the same thing that Asher and Madison did. After all, Gina was the one who worked closely with her, after Asher and Madison.
Seraphina’s smirk remained intact as she turned her gaze to Gina. “Thank you for being a witness, Gina. I wanted someone I could trust.” she said before placing her hands on her desk, leaning closer, “Did you get what I asked for?”
Gina nodded, though her eyes lingered on Elijah a moment longer before shifting back to Seraphina. “Of course. Anything for you, Seraphina.”
She handed Seraphina the square jewelry box that she had brought and asked, “Do you need anything else?”
Smiling politely, Seraphina looked up at her secretary and friend with genuine gratitude reflecting on her face, “No, thank you.”
A nod of acknowledgement later, Gina was about to leave the cabin but Seraphina stopped her, recalling something.
Elijah’s hand found its way to Seraphina’s once more, and this time she did not pull away. Instead, she squeezed it lightly, a silent reassurance as she turned her attention back to Gina. “I am sure the office is buzzing with excitement. Seeing me like this, dressed up like a bride with the veil and all, the must have some questions.”
“That’s an understatement.” Gina replied with a chuckle, “Do you want me to do anything about it? she asked.”
“Just tell them once I leave.” Seraphina said, her tone more serious now. “Let them know that their boss has gotten married and plan a little party for tomorrow, celebrating my marriage.”
Gina’s brows lifted slightly, but she merely nodded. “Understood. Is there anything else you need from me?”
Seraphina paused, thinking about any other task that she would need Gina for. But then she shook her head. “No, that will be all for now. Thank you, Gina.”
Gina gave a small smile, “Always, Seraphina.” With that, she excused herself from the cabin, leaving the newlyweds alone once again.
Seraphina waited until the door clicked shut behind Gina, then turned her attention back to Elijah. He was still holding her hand, his thumb tracing gentle circles on her skin. The warmth of his touch was oddly comforting, and for a moment, Seraphina allowed herself to simply feel, pushing aside the heavy cloak of her vendetta and the thoughts of revenge.
Elijah’s eyes searched hers, a flicker of uncertainty hidden behind the mask of confidence he usually wore. He did not know why but Elijah felt as if Seraphina was not totally into this, he wondered if she was having any second thoughts. Though she did not give him any reason to doubt, but there was an underlying tension that he could sense.
“Seraphina,” he began softly, his voice barely above a whisper, “are you okay with this? With us?”
Seraphina met his gaze, she knew the question was loaded, but she had learned to dance around the truth with ease. She was no stranger to playing the part, to manipulating emotions like pieces on a chessboard. But with Elijah, it was different. He was not just another pawn in her game; he was someone she had come to care for, in a way that both frightened and confused her.
“I am more than okay with this,” she said, her voice steady but with a softness that surprised even herself. “You are just so easy to love, Elijah. I made this decision, I chose to marry you because I really wanted to. And believe me, I am really happy about or new status as husband and wife.”
His eyes softened, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips, “I am glad to hear that,” he said, his hand still clasping hers. “Because, Seraphina, I am in this for real. I know that we got married after such little time, while others date for years before getting married. But I really want to spend the rest of life with you, grow old with you, be by your side, whatever comes.”
Seraphina’s heart skipped a beat at his words. It was not just that Elijah was offering his support, his love, his comfort, it was that he was doing it without asking for anything in return. In a world where everyone wanted something from her, Elijah was offering her something genuine, something that had no strings attached. It was dangerous, the way he made her feel, but she couldn’t help but be drawn to it.
She took a deep breath, steadying herself, “We will definitely make it work, dear husband.” she said, her voice firmer now. “But you have to promise me one thing, Elijah.”
“Anything,” he replied without hesitation.
“Promise me that no matter what happens, no matter what you see or hear, you will trust me. Trust that everything I do is for a reason. Promise me that you would listen to my side of the story, whatever the situation may be.” Seraphina extended her hand towards Elijah, hoping that he would take it as a gesture of making the promise.
Elijah’s gaze never wavered as he nodded and placed his hand in hers, “I trust you, Seraphina. I always have. And I promise to you, whatever the situation may be, bad, worse, or even if the world would become against you, I will always be by your side. I will always choose you.”

For a moment, they sat in silence, the weight of unspoken words hanging between them. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, Seraphina pushed herself up from her chair, pulling Elijah with her. “Come on,” she said with a grin, “let’s see how those bands look on us.”
She opened the jewelry box Gina had brought, revealing two sleek, elegant rings. Simple and classic platinum bands that looked exactly the same except Seraphina’s band was a little thinner. They weren’t just any rings, they were symbols, designed to represent the perfect union of power and elegance, of control and beauty. Seraphina had designed them herself, each curve and line a reflection of her own vision.
She handed one to Elijah, who took it with a smile, sliding it onto his finger. Then, with a small, almost shy smile, she slid the other ring onto her own finger, feeling the cool metal against her skin.
“Perfect,” Elijah murmured, admiring the way the band looked on her finger. “They suit us.”
Seraphina nodded, her eyes lingering on the ring. It was more than just a piece of jewelry; it was a reminder of the choices she had made, and the path she was on. A path that now included Elijah, whether she liked it or not.
But for now, in this moment, with Elijah by her side and the ring on her finger, Seraphina allowed herself to believe that maybe, just maybe, she could have something more than revenge. Something real.
