Chapter 109: [109 – Welcome to Hell]
“I love you” Seraphina smiled, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she looked up at Elijah. This was not what she had in mind and the fact that she was thinking about. She only said those words to him because she did not want him to worry about what was going in her mind and asks questions that she would have no answer to.
Seraphina could not let her husband know that she was thinking about choosing her first target from his family, her choice lied between Chloe and Katherine. She did not want the first revelation, the first strike at the illusion around Elijah to be so powerful and impactful that he would not be able to handle.
Also, she needed to start with a tiny blast, and increase its frequency with every step. Ethan was already a time bomb that was going to blast on the day of his marriage to Caroline. Oh, what a perfect day would that be to reveal such a secret that even Seraphina did not have an idea about.
That was going to be a bomb of epic proportions but that was going to explode in a few week’s time. Till then either it was Chloe or Katherine. Seraphina decided to go with Chloe first. As Blake was still recovering from his injuries, Seraphina wondered if he would want a chance to go after Katherine.
Also, that man was still unpredictable, Seraphina worried that now that he knew that it was not Elijah but Katherine who was behind Evelyn’s death, he would go after Elijah with more rage than before in case he still was planning to harm the person that his enemy cared for the most.
“You almost scared me, you know! I though you were having second thoughts about our marriage.” commented Elijah, knocking softly at Seraphina’s forehead, “Did not know that you were such a prankster.” he chuckled and pecked her on the nose, biting the tip slightly.
“Ouch!” Seraphina giggled, pretending to be offended, “That’s not fair!” She playfully pushed him away, trying to mask the anxiety creeping into her smile. Elijah had always been perceptive with her, and she knew she could not let her guard down, not even for a moment.
Elijah laughed, his eyes crinkling at the corners, completely oblivious to the storm brewing within his wife’s mind, “Well, if you are going to scare me with talk like that, you deserve a little nibble.”
Seraphina forced herself to laugh along with him, her mind racing. She needed to keep him distracted, keep him feeling secure and loved, while she carried out her plan. The delicate balance she was maintaining between truth and deception was exhausting, but necessary.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice softening, “I was just thinking about how lucky I am. I mean, look at us. Not everyone gets this, you know? This kind of love.”
Elijah’s expression softened, his teasing replaced by tenderness. He pulled her into a gentle embrace. “I know,. he whispered into her hair. “I feel it too. Every single day.”
For a moment, guilt stabbed at Seraphina’s heart. Was she really doing the right thing? But she quickly pushed the thought away. She had come too far to back down now. Everything she was doing, she told herself, was for the greater good. For justice. For truth. And yes, for vengeance.
Pulling back, she gave Elijah a warm smile. “I need to go to the office, had not been there since days.” she said casually, “I don’t want to leave but I have to. We will have dinner together tonight?”
Elijah nodded, still holding her close, “Of course.” he placed a kiss on her forehead and added, “I need to go to the office too but will be back around 7.”
“Perfect.” Seraphina smiled and stepped away to start getting ready for the day. As she got ready, dressing in a beautiful red dress, she finally came to a decision of who it was going to be. Her first target receiving her final punishment.
Chloe Grayson.
Leaving Elijah at her mansion after making sure that there was nothing there on which Elijah would stumble upon and find out about any of Seraphina’s secrets, she drove herself to The Seraphina Atelier and directly went to meet Jaxon.
But he was not in his cabin. On enquiring, Seraphina found out that he had taken a day off for that day. She knew what the reason behind this could be, so she rushed upstairs to her cabin and locked the door before giving him a call.
He did not pick up at the first few rings, but the fifth time that she called, Jaxon finally answered her call and greeted her by apologizing, “Sorry, my hands were dirty so I could not answer the call.” he spoke in a very chilling voice, cold, lacking of any emotion.
Behind him someone groaned in pain, and there was another voice, of a man wailing. Seraphina sighed but a smirk curved upon her lips as she asked, “How much time would it take for you to dispose them all off. Or do you want some more torture time?”
Jaxon chuckled darkly on the other end of the line, the sound sending a shiver down Seraphina’s spine despite her familiarity with his methods, “Oh, I’m just getting started.” he replied, his tone as smooth as ice, “You know I like to take my time, savor each moment. But if you need me back at the office, I can wrap this up sooner.”
Seraphina rolled her eyes, even though a part of her appreciated his thoroughness, “Finish up. I have a gift for you, I am sure that you would love it. Once you are done playing with your current toys, clean up and meet me at the office.”
“Tell me that it is about Chloe.” Jaxon replied, his voice dropping to a whisper, he sounded unsure and wanted a confirmation from her, “These toys can take a break for some time and maybe I would unleash them on her. Just tell me that it is the right time that you talked about.”
“Come to the office, Jaxon. There is much more than that.” Seraphina said and ended the call rather abruptly.
She placed her phone down on her desk, exhaling slowly. Glancing out of the large window of her cabin, her eyes tracing the skyline of the city she had come to both love and despise. Each building, each street held a secret, and she knew more than most.
Seraphina sat in her office, the events of the past regarding Vivian and Jaxon replaying in her mind like a broken record. She couldn’t shake the image of Vivian’s battered face, the fear and pain etched into her eyes. Chloe had done that. Chloe, who had always appeared so polished, so controlled, was a monster lurking behind a mask.
Seraphina had discovered the truth by chance. At that time, she was investigating Ethan when she accidentally stumbled upon what Chloe had planned. A slip-up in Chloe’s usually meticulous planning had led her to a trail of digital breadcrumbs. Emails, texts, transactions, everything pointed to Chloe being the mastermind behind Vivian’s kidnapping and assault.
Chloe had joined hands with Jaxon’s love rival, a rich dude, who was right now in Jaxon’s custody. That guy used to chase Vivian but she was in love with Jaxon. Chloe too could not tolerate this and hired several men to drug up and assault Vivian for days.
Meanwhile, Jaxon had never known the truth. He believed the lie Chloe had fed him, that Vivian had run off with her rich pursuer and betrayed him. The pictures Chloe sent, fabricated and staged, had been the final nail in the coffin of his trust. It had broken him, driven him to darkness that was etched into his soul.
Seraphina’s blood boiled at the thought. She had been too late to save Vivian, too late to prevent the suffering Chloe had inflicted. Also, Vivian alone was not Chloe’s only victim. Several people had fallen victim to Chloe’s jealousy and her need to be the best and have the best, have all that she wanted, get all that she desired.

Jaxon found out the truth later on right before he was to board the plane to Germany. Seraphina had managed to reach him in time and stop him from leaving. She took him to where she had been keeping Vivian, getting her treated. But they were too late.
Vivian could not be saved and now was only breathing with the help of multiple medical instruments and machines. They could not save Vivian, but they would not be too late to make Chloe pay.
Seraphina clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. Chloe had crossed every line, and now she would face the consequences. She was going to make sure that Chloe would suffer the same amount, if not tens and hundred times more, pain that she gave others.
She made many people’s lives hell. And now the time had come that Chloe too gets to experience what hell is truly like.
