Chapter 110: [110 – The Cursed Life]
Jaxon arrived at the Seraphina Atelier looking smart and proper as always. He was dressed in a nice, fitted suit, his hair styled properly and he looked absolutely handsome. But unlike his usual appearance, today, his eyes were puffed up and tinted red, there were bandages wrapped around his hands. It looked as if he had punched something really hard.
Or perhaps, punched someone.
He arrived at the office with a sense of anticipation coiled tightly within him. Since the day Seraphina had sent those bastards in his custody, today was the day when Jaxon finally laid his hands on them. Earlier he was breaking them emotionally and mentally. And when the time had come to finally hurt them physically, take revenge for all the atrocities they had committed towards Vivian, Seraphina called him back.
As he made his way to the top floor where Seraphina’s cabin loomed in silent authority. The air was thick with the scent of polished wood and leather with hints of a subtle room freshener, lavender, but it did nothing to calm his nerves. He had been waiting for this moment for what felt like an eternity, and now, he was finally going to get what he wanted or so he hoped.
He wondered if Seraphina was finally going to give him the green signal to do all the things that he had planned for his biggest enemy. Chloe Grayson.
The door to Seraphina’s office was ajar because she had been expecting him. He pushed it open and stepped inside. Seraphina, his boss and the woman who was the one to tell him Vivian’s and Chloe’s truth, the one who rescued Vivian when it should have been him, was seated behind her expansive mahogany desk, her expression impassive as she reviewed some documents. The room was brightly lit, which only added to her enigmatic aura.
“Jaxon.” she acknowledged him without looking up, her voice a cool, measured whisper. He was not just an employee for Seraphina, he was one among those to whom she had promised vengeance and in return only wanted their loyalty and support to end the reign of these criminals who ruined their lives.
Jaxon was a friend, an ally, and today she was going to give him what he had been asking for so long. It was the right time.
“Seraphina,” he greeted back, his voice steady but laced with barely restrained eagerness. He stepped closer, his hands twitching slightly at his sides. “So, are you finally giving me the green signal?” he chuckled mirthlessly. Pulling back a chair opposite to Seraphina, Jaxon sat down and picked up a paper weight to play with. His actions, actually a way to mask his nervousness and restlessness.
She leaned back in her chair, finally lifting her gaze to meet his. Her eyes were like two chips of ice, revealing nothing of what she was truly thinking. This was an aura that Jaxon was familiar with. His lips curled upwards in a smile that matched the slow smile curled at the corner of Seraphina’s lips.
Both of them aware of what was going inside the other person’s mind.
“Yes.” she said simply, her voice carrying the weight of finality, “It’s time. The right one.”
A surge of excitement shot through Jaxon, but he tempered it, keeping his composure, “You can finally have your revenge Jaxon. Everything will take place as per the plan that we had finalized.”
Seraphina placed the papers down and folded her hands in front of her, “I have instructed my men to pick up our little parcel, Miss Chloe Grayson, after office hours. They will bring her to the same abandoned factory where Vivian was locked up for days and where -.” she did not complete her sentence knowing that she did not have too.
The mention of Vivian was enough for Jaxon to realize what Seraphina was hesitating to say.
Jaxon’s eyes darkened at the mention of Vivian. The thought of how much the love of his life suffered in those days that she was being held captive against her will, assaulted, exploited so brutally that it caused internal damage as well.
“The only change in our plan.” Seraphina sighed and hoped that Jaxon would understand why she was making this change and would just go with it, “The thing is that I don’t want you to kill Chloe.”
His head snapped up, and he stared at her, disbelief etched into his features. “What? Why?” His voice was low, tinged with an edge of anger that he struggled to contain, “Is this because of your husband? Just because you’re married into the Grayson family now, you have gone soft?”
Seraphina chuckled, but there was no warmth in it, only a dark, mirthless sound that sent a chill down his spine. “My marriage to Elijah has nothing to do with this,” she said, her tone dismissive. “Don’t mistake my intentions, Jaxon. I’m not sparing her out of mercy. No, I want you to break her, not end her.”
He frowned, still not understanding. “What do you mean?”
Seraphina leaned forward, her eyes narrowing with cold malice. “During our recent evaluations and re-investigations, we uncovered more stuff about Chloe. She was involved in a hit and run case just a few months ago before she started with her internship, where two children were killed. She managed to escape any punishment, and the police didn’t even file a complaint because of Daddy’s influence.”
Jaxon’s lips curled into a sneer. “So, she’s a murderer too. What a new things to find about. We know that this was not the first time that her actions resulted in someone’s death.”
Seraphina nodded. “Exactly. But death is too easy for someone like her. I want you to make her suffer. I want her to lose her mind, to be driven to the edge of insanity where she will actually beg you to end her life. But you won’t. You’ll let her spiral into madness until she’s nothing more than a shell of who she once was—a broken, tormented soul, cursed to live with the weight of her sins.”
The plan began to take shape in Jaxon’s mind, and the more he thought about it, the more he liked it. “Make her go crazy,” he repeated, the idea settling in. “Traumatize her until she is begging for mercy.”
Seraphina smiled again, this time with genuine satisfaction. “Yes. Give her so much pain, so much fear, that she loses her sanity and is ultimately admitted to a mental asylum. Let her rot there, knowing that it’s her own doing.”
Jaxon’s anger dissipated, replaced by a sinister glee. “I like this plan better,” he admitted, his voice a low, dangerous purr. “It will be a delight to watch her suffer.”
Seraphina’s expression turned contemplative, almost philosophical. “People are foolish to fear death,” she mused softly. “Death is a form of salvation. It’s life that is truly hellish, filled with pain, regret, and endless suffering.”
Jaxon nodded, his eyes gleaming with a twisted sense of purpose. “You are right, boss. Life is the real punishment after all.”
As Seraphina watched him leave, she knew that Chloe’s days of carefree living were over. What awaited her was a fate far worse than death—an endless nightmare from which there would be no waking up. And Seraphina would ensure that every moment of it was exquisitely unbearable.
With a final glance at the door, she returned to her papers, her mind already moving on to the next task. Jaxon would handle Chloe, and soon, another loose end would be tied up, leaving her one step closer to her ultimate goal.

The abandoned factory loomed like a forgotten giant on the outskirts of the city. Its windows were shattered, and rust crept along the metal beams, making it look like a relic from another time. Once a place of industry, it now served a darker purpose, a sanctuary for those who operated in the shadows, away from prying eyes.
Jaxon arrived first, his car blending into the night as he parked it a distance away. He preferred to walk the rest of the way, enjoying the eerie silence that enveloped the area. The factory had a certain charm to it, a desolate beauty that appealed to his twisted sense of aesthetics. He pushed open the heavy doors, their hinges creaking in protest, and stepped inside.
The interior was just as grim as the exterior, with crumbling walls and debris scattered across the floor. A few dim lights flickered overhead, casting long shadows that danced like specters. Jaxon’s footsteps echoed in the vast emptiness as he made his way to the central area, where he had set up for the night’s event.
A single metal chair stood in the middle of the room, chains dangling ominously from the ceiling above it. Jaxon’s lips curled into a smile as he imagined what was about to happen. This place had seen its share of horrors, and tonight, it would witness another.
