Chapter 112: [112 – The Contrast]
While Chloe was left bleeding and severely injured, not mortally in danger, in that factory, Seraphina went back home to Elijah with a happy smile on her face. She had thought that she would feel guilty after giving Chloe to Jaxon to deal with as he wants but now that she was driving back hope, the prospect of seeing Elijah after so many hours evoked a sense of happiness and peace inside her.
There was no guilt.
In fact, she felt pretty much relieved.
Seraphina had had her share of revenge against Chloe. The youngest Grayson troubled her a lot but in front of others, what Chloe did was nothing. That is why Seraphina was content with demeaning her, bullying her with menial tasks, and insulting her in front of everybody every now and then.
But that doesn’t mean that Chloe was not a monster. Chloe did not destroy only Vivian’s life, she had been bullying her classmates, verbally and physically since she was young and in school. A few students committed suicide because of her, and then ones who stood against her were harmed in one way or the other.
Vivian was not the only one who was sexually and physically assaulted by these gang of men that were on Chloe’s payroll. Several other women and even men met the same fate. The list of her crimes wasn’t as long as her father but it was a pretty long list.
The only reason that Seraphina had feared the feelings of guilt and remorse was because she knew that all this would make Elijah sad and cause him pain. But now that the task was done, and Chloe was being punished for her crimes, all Seraphina felt was relief.
Not only was she relived because now Chloe would not be able to hurt anybody but she was also relaxed because with Chloe gone, Elijah would be freed of one of the sinners that make up his family. She was actually freeing him from all these bad people.
Seraphina’s mood only brightened when she arrived at her home and was greeted by the sight of her husband’s car already parked there in the garage. The smile on her lips widened as she parked her car and entered the house.
As she entered the house, the familiar scent of Elijah’s cologne and the comforting aroma of their evening meal greeted her. She found Elijah standing in the kitchen, still in his suit sans the jacket and the tie. His sleeves were rolled up till elbows and he was wearing an apron. The sight made Seraphina’s heart swell with affection.
“Sera?” Elijah’s joyous voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
She hurried towards him, her heart racing with eagerness causing his face to light up with a radiant smile. He welcomed her with open arms and she easily slid into his embrace as if they had been doing this for years.
“Welcome home.” he said, his eyes filled with warmth and adoration. He nuzzled her hair before placing a delicate kiss there and wrapped her in a tender embrace. The feel of his arms around her was the ultimate balm for her weary soul.
“I missed you,” Seraphina murmured into his shoulder, her voice soft and sincere.
Elijah pulled back slightly, cupping her face with his hands. “I missed you too. How was your day?”
With that the two of them got lost in a conversation about how they spent their day and Seraphina very quickly forgot about Chloe, her new sister-in-law, who was at present rotting in that abandoned factory that had witness the horrors that Chloe imparted on others.

The cold, gray light of dawn filtered through the thin seams of the blinds, casting an eerie glow on the dingy room in the factory where Chloe lay, bound and blindfolded. Her body ached from the remnants of pain from yesterday’s torture. Each breath she took was shallow and labored, her mind struggling to piece together the fragments of her harrowing ordeal.
She opened her eyes to check where she was and why was it hurting so much but she could not see anything because she was still wearing a blindfold. In her semi conscious state, she tried to get up but only stumbled and fell down because something was holding her back.
The sound of metal chains clinking made her realize that she was being held captive, chained to something and hence, unable to move. This caused the fog that had enveloped her senses began to lift slowly, like a curtain being drawn back to reveal a grim reality.
Chloe’s last memories before waking up here were a blur of terror. She remembered leaving the office, the cool evening air brushing against her face as she walked toward her car. The abrupt darkness of a hood being thrown over her head, the rough hands gripping her, and the sharp pain that followed were all too vivid.
Her abductor had been meticulous, methodical in his cruelty, taunting her with promises of retribution. His calm, composed voice, despite its chilling undertones, had sent shivers down her spine. He spoke of giving back everything she had supposedly taken from others, of making her pay for the misfortune she had caused.
As the remnants of those memories resurfaced, Chloe’s fear intensified. She began to scream, her voice echoing off the cold, hard walls of her confinement. But her cries were met only with a deafening silence. The realization that no one was coming to her aid settled heavily in her chest. She struggled against her restraints, her wrists and ankles chafed raw from the chains that held her captive. The bonds were cruel, unyielding, and her attempts to free herself only seemed to tighten them further.
Despair set in as she felt a parching thirst after all that crying and screaming for help. But no one was there to offer her water or help. It was a cruel reminder of her helplessness. Her throat was dry, scratchy from the hours of crying and screaming. She called out again, her voice trembling with desperation, but the silence swallowed her pleas. The walls of the room seemed to close in on her, amplifying the isolation and fear.
Tears streamed down her face, mingling with the grime of her ordeal. She whimpered softly, calling out for her father, hoping that somehow he would hear her and come to her rescue. In her heart, she clung to the hope that he would come, that he would be the hero in this nightmare.
But as the minutes dragged on and her cries became hoarse, the reality of her situation sunk in deeper. She had no idea where she was, who her captor was, or what they intended to do next. The darkness of her blindfold was a metaphor for her helplessness and the unknown dangers that lurked beyond.
As Chloe’s sobs quieted to a broken, ragged breath, she tried to steady herself. The cold, unforgiving silence of the room seemed to mock her desperation. She had always been one to wield control, to influence those around her with ease, but now she was not able to do anything
She wondered why this was happening to her because she believed that she had done nothing to incur this kind of torture. Chloe pondered over the fact that she could be kidnapped for ransom but was quick to dismiss it because if that was the case, her abductor would not have hurt her like this.
She did not even think that the suffering she now faced was just a fraction of what she had inflicted on others. That this was the retribution, the repercussions of her own crimes. Even now, Chloe believed that she had done nothing wrong to be tortured like this and wondered if some psychopath, serial killer had kidnapped her.
Time passed slowly, each second stretching into an eternity. The fear and pain were constant companions, and the hope of rescue began to wane.

Chloe’s mind raced, trying to piece together any clues, any sign of what might happen next. The minutes stretched into an eternity, and her fear was a constant, gnawing presence. She decided not to shout for help believing that the serial killer might hear her and come to torment her again.
There was no was that she could escape on her own, and no one to hear her cries. All she could do in that moment was pray and hope that her family finds her in time. Maybe she could try and offer the killer to bring in someone else in place of her. She consoled herself and started thinking of a plan to convince her captor to release her.
She would not even go to the police and file a complaint. All she needed was to get out of this hell hole and for that she was willing to do anything and everything. But unfortunately for her, that is exactly what her captors wanted from her.
