Chapter 68: [68 – The Anomaly]
While Elijah was taking care of Seraphina, treating her wounds, Marcus had those four men arrested and also made a deal with the police officers and also made a deal with them to let him have the chance to interrogate these bastards who dared to create a scene at his party and also cause harm to his potential daughter-in-law.

Whereas, Daniel went home, leaving the party early because he could not tolerate and accept his defeat. His plan was flawless but there were three things that happened that destroyed everything!

The first being the stupid people that he had hired to execute his plan, the second being the fact that Seraphina did not consume the drug that he had given those idiots to mix into her drinks or food. Instead of Seraphina,, Daniel found some random man that he did not even know, showing symptoms of having consumed the drug.

The third mistake that he made was not take into consideration the anomaly that Elijah represented. Daniel had not thought that Elijah would panic so much as he did on not being able to spot his new girlfriend around him.

Daniel was left astonished seeing how Elijah had behaved when he could not find Seraphina, and the madness that he had displayed while trying to search for her. It was not something that he had ever seen anywhere, in anybody.

He had not thought that Elijah’s feeling for Seraphina ran so deep. It was definitely going to be a huge problem for him in the future. Daniel decided that he needed to act as fast as he could otherwise all his dreams and desires would go in vain and never be fulfilled.

As it was a high profile case, the police wasted no time in taking action. They had a team of officers interrogating the four men that had been captured on scene. Each of them was taken into a different room and various tactics were used to have the confess the reason behind their vile actions.

It clearly did not seem as if they had chosen Seraphina on random, everything looked planned and as if Seraphina was their target from the start. While a team of officers was dealing with the criminals, another team went on site to investigate.

Very quickly they found out that the four men that were now in police custody were neither from the hotel’s staff and nor were they additional servers that were hired for the party. The question then arose that how were these four able to enter the premises of the hotel bypassing the security.

It did not take much time for the officers to gain access to the hotel’s CCTV footage that gave them the culprit, the mastermind that they were looking for.

As per their deal with Marcus. Instead of informing their superiors about the culprit, the investigating officer made a call to Marcus and informed him, “Sir, we have identified the potential mastermind behind this.”

Marcus, who though was still at the party venue, was being updated about the case. He needed to know that how dare someone pass through the hotel’s security, his own security detail and then enter his party to disrupt it like that.

In Marcus’s eyes, this was a pre planned crime which he believed that was another attack by that mysterious enemy who he believes is responsible for every problematic situation in their lives.

“Who is it?” Marcus wanted to know about this enemy who dared to harm him and his family. He already had a list in his mind and expected the mastermind to be one of them. But the name that the officer gave him left him utterly astonished and in disbelief.

“Are you sure officer?” he asked to confirm, his voice laced with venom and tone reflecting the anger that simmered just beneath the surface.

“Yes sir, we have video evidence that Mr. Daniel Thompson helped the four criminals enter the hotel and also led them inside to the party venue. We are going to show this to those four men and interrogate them. I am sure, now that we have such substantial proof, at least one of them would end up revealing everything.”

Marcus’s blood was boiling in rage thinking about Daniel’s betrayal. He every well understood what reasons Daniel must have to act like this but what enraged him was Daniel’s audacity to execute such a plan on such an important day.

What was Daniel thinking of creating such a scene at his annual New Year’s party when he is aware of all the scandals and incidents that the Grayson family had to suffer through in the past few months. How dare Daniel try to create another scandal at the New Year’s party.

Offended and enraged, Marcus tried to reign in his anger as he replied, “Send me the video and get those men talking. I will be there in a few hours.”

“Okay, sir.” responded the police officer before ending the call.

After a few minutes, Marcus received the video file that the officer was talking about. Marcus played it thrice, he watched the video three times before finally deciding to leave the party to confront that bloody idiot.

As Elijah was with Seraphina, Marcus told Katherine to keep the party going and left a couple of bodyguards in charge of Ethan to make sure that stupid boy does not get to indulge in anything that might create trouble for him in the future.

After instructing them, Marcus finally left the party making an excuse that he was not feeling well. But in reality, he drove straight to the Thompson mansion to confront Daniel.

Asher watched everything and everybody around him keenly. He noticed when Marcus finally left and sent a quick message to Seraphina that their plan was working as expected. They have created the rift that they needed, now all they needed was to make sure that the rift only widens.

Daniel was a relatively easy target for them in comparison to William and Marcus who often band together and hold almost equivalent power and influence. It was going to be difficult for them to deal with these two monsters but Asher was sure that they would be able to handle the other two as well.

All they needed to do was go by the full proof plan that they had created to destroy these three criminals but Asher did not know that soon they would have to change their plans because they had overlooked a minor anomaly in their plan that was going to have major repercussions.

He had not expected the anomaly that Elijah Grayson was.
