Chapter 72: [72 – Tongue Tied]
While Seraphina made plans with Asher and Madison to uncover all the layers of the cases that Elijah had been involved in to make sure that they do not end up hurting an innocent person in this mess. Elijah, on the other hand, was actually registering a complaint against Daniel Thompson for his involvement in the attempt to rape and murder Seraphina.

Because this was a high profile case, the police did not waste time to take any action. Considering the high society people who were involved in this crime, the police could not afford to make any delay or cause any negligence that could easily snatch their jobs from them.

At such an odd hour, a team of police officers were dispatched to the Thompson family mansion while Elijah stayed back at the police station to het his chance to confront Daniel within the confines of an interrogation room.

He could have gone with the police officers and grabbed that man by his collar, dragging him, beating him black and blue. But Elijah knew that the anger that was bubbling up inside him, boiling to a rage might make him do something which he knew he would definitely regret later.

That’s why he needed a safe and secure place to confront the disgusting mastermind behind this vile plan, the man whom Elijah had always considered to be a part of his family, Elijah needed a confined and guarded are when confronting Daniel Thompson because he was not sure that he could keep himself from murdering the man. That is why he needed someone to be around to stop him from committing such crime.

Though Daniel totally deserved that but his wife, Amelia and their daughter Mia did not deserve any of it. They were absolutely innocent. And it only for the sake of Amelia, who was like his mother, and Mia, whom he considered as his best friend and younger sister, that Elijah was going to let Daniel live.

While the police officers went to the Thompson mansion to arrest Daniel, Elijah stayed back at the police station. Waiting.

He was thinking about multiple ways he could punish Daniel but was distracted from his murderous thought by the continuous and shrill ringtone of his cell phone. Seeing “Dad” flash across his cell phone’s screen, Elijah exhaled deeply before answering the call.

“Hello.” greeted Elijah, his head bowed down slightly and his voice low as if he had gotten physically hurt.

“Elijah, son, where are you?” asked Marcus followed by, “Is Seraphina, alright? Are you going to stay with her tonight?” questioned Marcus.

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Elijah sighed and responded to each of Marcus’s questions, “Sera is feeling fine, Dad.” he paused for a moment wondering how to reveal to his father that one of his best friends attempted to commit such a heinous crime.

“Dad -” Elijah was not able to find the right words to reveal the truth to his father thinking about how much hurt his father is going to be.

“What happened, Elijah? Why are you sounding so low? Is everything okay?” Marcus was not only concerned about his son, “Where are you?” he repeated.

Elijah mustered up the courage and told his father, “Dad, I am at the police station.” hearing his response Marcus immediately grew tensed. The first thing that came to Marcus’s mind was that Elijah found out about Daniel. And his doubts were confirmed when Elijah continued to talk.

“It’s so hard for me to tell you this, Dad, but -” Elijah felt like crying for the shattered trust, “The police found out about the person responsible for what happened with Sera at the party.”

“It’s Un -, it’s Daniel, Dad.” he could not address him by the familial title, not anymore.

Marcus did not know how to respond to this. He was in shock that Elijah managed to find about Daniel’s involvement even after he had told those stupid police officers to keep Daniel’s name out of it. How was he going to explain it to his son now?

“Elijah -” he could hear the shock in Marcus’s voice but the reason behind is was different from what Elijah believed it to be.

“I can understand that it is hard for you to accept this, Dad. It was hard for me as well but after seeing the CCTV footage from the hotel and the confession tapes, it is him, Dad. It was Daniel who had not only planned to have those vile men rape my Sera but also murder her. Dad, he wanted to kill the woman I love!” Elijah cried not knowing that his father knew that whole truth and did not care about it.

“Son -” Marcus tried to say something comforting but Elijah did not give him the chance. he shocked his father further with the news, “I have filed a complaint against Daniel, the officers have gone to arrest him.” Elijah informed.

“WHAT?” this was the only way Marcus could respond to the news without causing Elijah to be suspicious.

“Yeas, they just left to make the arrest. I am sorry, dad.” Elijah apologized thinking how hurt his father must be because of this but that did not mean that he was going to sit idle and do nothing about this, “He needs to face the repercussions of his crime. I am going to make sure that Daniel gets the punishment that he deserves.”

That was all that Elijah said before ending the call. Marcus cursed angrily for not being able to try change Elijah’s mind and for this new quicksand of a mess. He was anxious and extremely worried thinking that if caught and jailed, Daniel might end up revealing secrets that could have Marcus land up in jail next to him.

Cursing his fate, Marcus stormed out of the house and drove himself back to the Thompson mansion, all the while calling Daniel continuously but that bastard answered neither of his calls. When Marcus finally arrived at the Thompson mansion, Daniel was already in handcuffs after being arrested and was being dragged to the police car.

Daniel spotted Marcus rather quickly and stopped right in front of him. The rage in his eyes was a warning for Marcus that the latter understood very well.

“I will think of something.” Marcus assured Daniel, whispering to him before he was taken away.
