Chapter 73: [73 – The Unexpected Turn]
Daniel was brought to the police station, handcuffed, and in his night suit and home slippers. He was not given the time to change or contact his lawyers because of the Grayson family influence that Elijah used to get Daniel behind the bars as soon as possible. It was one of those few instances where he actually used his family name to get something done.
When he was brought to the police station, Elijah had to reign in his anger and keep himself from lunging at the bastard who had dared to hurt Seraphina. On the other hand, the moment Daniel spotted Elijah at the police station, he understood what must have happened but what he did not understand was how the hell did Elijah got to know about his involvement in Seraphina’s case.
There paths crossed for a moment when the officers were taking Daniel to the interrogation room. He stopped right in front of Elijah and glared at him for a moment to which Elijah responded in kind and said, “You should not have done that. Now see what I will do.”
While Daniel was dragged away, Elijah stayed at the station waiting for his chance at confrontation. The charges against Daniel were severe and Elijah planned to make sure that he gets a fitting punishment for each of his crimes.

Caught between a rock and a hard place, Marcus was contacting lawyers on Daniel’s behalf. The longer that he stayed at the police station, the more the chances were that Daniel would end up revealing secrets about the businesses that Marcus is involved in. The illegal and unlawful ones.
He had to make sure to do things in such a way that Elijah doesn’t even get a whiff of what is cooking behind his back. Marcus needed to conjure a plan that would not only help Daniel be free of all the charges against him and his image would also be restored in Elijah’s eyes.
Well, as much as he could.

It was the next morning, when Seraphina, Asher, Madison, and everybody else got to know about Daniel’s arrest. Though Seraphina’s name was kept under wraps but the charges against Daniel and the news of late night arrest made it to the headlines in every newspaper. Every news channel also talked about the severe charges against Daniel Thompson.
The Grayson and Sullivan family name was also dragged into the mess because of Daniel’s friendship and strong familial connection with Marcus and William. The public was obviously in shock but it was nothing in front of what Seraphina, Asher, and Madison were going through at the moment.
They were yet to start looking deeply into Elijah’s cases to make sure that he deserved everything that they had planned for him but then the news that Elijah was responsible for Daniel’s arrest made deepened their doubts regarding Elijah’s criminal history.
“There is no way he would take that risk knowing the amount of information that Daniel has about Marcus and all the illegal activities and crimes that the Grayson’s are involved in.” commented Madison. She was on a video conference call with Asher and Seraphina.
As Asher had stayed at Seraphina’s place for the night so he could talk freely without fearing about anybody listening to his conversations.
“Exactly! I had thought that Elijah would, at most, threaten Daniel like Marcus did, in case he actually felt something about Sera. But getting him arrested? I don’t think that it is a risk that Elijah would take, or Marcus would let him take knowing well that it would not take Daniel any further motivation to confess about all of Marcus’s crimes in front of the police.” commented Asher.
Both of them could not see what Seraphina meant when she said that she wasn’t sure if Elijah was like the rest of his family members.
“The police officer called to inform that Elijah wanted to confront Daniel on his own but they haven’t let him in yet. He also told me that Elijah pressed on taking Daniel to court and have law punish him accordingly.” Seraphina could not believe that Elijah went on and did that. It was something that she had not expected.
“I think you were right, Sera.” admitted Madison, her voice firm and tone genuine, “I think we made a mistake.”
“I agree.” Asher cracked his knuckles, a nervous habit of his, “This does not seem to be a show like they put up with that press conference.”
Seraphina shook her head and pulled her lower lip between her teeth, biting on it hard, “We need to solve this mystery as soon as possible because the more we delay this, the more Elijah could be danger.”
“What do you mean?’ questioned Madison unable to understand how Elijah could be in danger. Even though he had for sure invited trouble for himself by getting Daniel arrested but he had Marcus by his side to deal with it.
Asher too was looking at Seraphina questioningly while she was lost in a different zone entirely. “Sera?!” her shook her by her shoulder trying to bring her back to reality, “What is it?”
“If,” Seraphina began, her voice shaking slightly, “if Elijah is innocent and he did not commit any of those crimes for which he got sued, then there must be someone who is framing him. And if that’s the case, then the real culprit could still out there, manipulating events and potentially planning to cause more harm.”
Madison’s eyes widened as she started to grasp the gravity of the situation. “So, you’re saying that there’s someone out there who is after Elijah and it is possible that that person could strike again?”
“Wasn’t there a name that came up quite a few times when we were researching about Elijah’s cases? Who was it?” Asher tried to recall that one constant name that was linked with almost all of the cases that had been filed against Elijah.
“Blake. Blake Anderson.” replied Madison grabbing both Asher and Seraphina’s attention.
